    There's a lot of comments about this being early punk. It sounds more like the power pop of bands like Big Star and the Raspberries. These guys should have been huge. I suspect they were an influence to bands that came later though. Like the Replacements.

    One of the high water marks of the era, tough to pick a favorite from 4 gems but I think Peter may get the trophy here, musical perfection in 100 seconds.

    Can't believe this discovery! For 35 years, I thought "Hanging on the Telephone" was a Blondie original! This version is better and this EP is great! The Nerves rock!

    I'll never forget finding a mint copy of this amazing 7" at this tiny little record store in Austin, TX in the mid 90's... for only $12! The store owner apparently had no idea whatsoever how much it was actually worth. I had to contain my excitement and keep a straight face as I forked over the cash for it. That was a happy, happy day.

      how much is it worth? I have Coven's first album original vinyl, it's the only rare record I have tho, I dont know a lot about record collecting.

      If somebody is selling a 45 in the 90's for $12 they definitely knew the worth to some extent. Back then 7"'s were anywhere from 50c to a couple bux. Not saying you didn't score a rare find.

    Great stuff....amazing for '76. Flying in the face of hard rock & disco and returning to the garage rock days of the '60s.

      Many would argue this was actually the very first L.A. punk vinyl release, though it obviously differed from some of the more 'standard' punk bands of the day (Weirdos, Germs, Bags, Screamers, etc)

      @@Brewzerr this was WAY better than the germs bags & screamers !

      @Brewzerr 4 роки тому +5

      @@kookadams85 That's a matter of opinion. It's too different than those bands to really compare. All those bands are straight up punk, and the Nerves were more power pop. Personally I love them all fairly equally.

    These guys came and went so fast, the world STILL hasn't had a chance to catch up to them. Worst part: They had the full package (and a couple sure-fire hits) two years before the Knack and got nothing. Thank GOD Blondie saw an opportunity to jump on one of those hits and make it so or else Jack would have exactly what to show for all of that talent? Even after Blondie, the world didn't exactly rush to cover other Nerve songs to any significant degree, and why the hell not? Jack Lee wrote hits.
