It's one of my better life decisions as well, though mine were just burned/tied and not removed. My one regret is that I didn't think to ask if my doctor could take the uterus as long as he was in there. It's only ever been a nuisance. The extent of my "homemaking" is I clean up after myself.
I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that if today's religious conservatives have their way, they'll probably be trying to outlaw those sorts of procedures.
@TheLittlestViking - Same here.. Not all women are cut out to be mothers, and should be respected for their decision. The forcing of women who are of this mindset to have children results in a lot of abused kids in the system, homeless etc. Just saying..
If they want woman to be home makers why not push for a maternity wage? They did that in Denmark and it has one of the lowest female participation rates in the workforce in the entire world.
The fact that this man chose to use the word "homemaker," and not wife and mother, says... a lot. To him, I'd bet, this is synonymous with maid or servant. He was in tears saying that word. She's not a person, she's his Rosey the Robot.
Just one more piece of evidence for the hypothesis that he may very well be a psychopath who doesn't see other people as people, but only as tools to be used for his own purposes. Could also just be "selective" (women, children, maybe non-Catholic men?, ...), could also be "trained" (i.e. sociopathy instead of psychopathy), and it'd absolutely require an actual psychological diagnosis, but I'd bet good money that _something_ in that direction would be in that diagnosis...
@djlivvy46 That is something a teenager would say. "They complete me" or "I'm nothing without them" are things you'd believe before maturing a bit. @Wolf-ln1ml Sometimes I wonder if people like that, religious men especially, know if a heavy falling object could kill them. Like, maybe they think they're exempt from certain facts of life. I used to be a conservative, and while I never believed at all that anyone should be a prisoner in their own home, or forced to carry children, many of my beliefs lacked empathy almost all together. @@alexj-t2331 I always thought it was a bad Idea that universities wanted celebrities at commencement. And the way they fling around "honorary degrees" these days is just shameful. But it's all tied back to the cost of higher education. Universities need to compete for the best students to get the best faculty to get the research grants. But then, they need to throw tons of cash into things like facilities, student life programs, events, recruitment programs, and lavish commencements to make parents feel like it was worth it. Several studies showed that it was these costs - not education itself and certainly not faculty salaries which are low - that has driven up the cost of higher education in the US. Capitalist competition ("the market model") is literally responsible for making higher LESS affordable. And dumb celebrities at lavish commencement ceremonies is just one of the symptoms of the problem.

The Merlin had a design flaw in the carburetor, , cause the engine to cut off during a roll. Not a great thing for the Spitfire to have when going into combat against a superior force. The simple improvement Beatrice Shilling made, could even be retrofitted in the field so no aircraft needed to be taken off the line. Later, the RAF experimentEd with the Merlin in a P-51 Mustang, which the USAAF adopted, allowing the 8th AAF to have bombers escorted all the way into Germany.

He speaks for the board of trustees who fund the college.
If he had his way, weeping-at-public-commencement-speech-man would not be allowed to weep publicly at a public commencement speech.
Right? What kind of manly example is that sissy display of real emotion? /s
He sounded exactly like my traditional catholic SSPX cult family members. They are in Kansas too.
It blows my mind that these people cannot distinguish between people having/holding their own personal convictions and beliefs versus forcing them on others. This is why we care what people believe; and we try to help others to be skeptical and to use critical thinking skills.
He likely saved a few awesome young graduates from a lifetime of shameless hypocrisy, by Offending them!
My jaw kept dropping soooo many times wtffffffff 😠😤
At my commencement (I went to a CRC college) I also don't remember anything EXCEPT the dude said something about Monica Lewinsky 😕 Not sure what but I'm pretty sure it was degrading 😒 🙄
Stay at home mothers was only ever possible with the wealthy class. Women worked during all eras in history.
Not true. Many Moms who stayed home to raise kids in the 50s and 60s were not wealthy by any means. They did without modern conveniences. Most families only had one car, one phone, one TV, no dryer, no dishwasher and no air conditioning. Moms were very creative and thrifty. Some sewed and made their children's outfits. Many homemakers canned. Most families didn't go out to eat. McDonalds was a rare treat for many kids in the 60s. Houses were also smaller. People had big families and little houses. Today, homes are huge and families are small.
@@JoAnnFuir incomes went further then. My mom stayed home. That said much harder now. I saw women who stayed home replaced by trophy wives and left indigent. Perhaps it is worth remembering that a skill that is employable is always worth having. I worked after my child started kindergarten.
Thank you for pointing out that this dude's speech does not represent Catholic people's beliefs in America. People keep acting like this screed was a guy speaking to his one people. No. This was a Catholic university taking money from young women who probably believe in the value of their education, and whose family in the audience probably believes in their young women's education, and then this Catholic university's admin approved this speech to be given to this young woman it was their job to educate. Appalling.
This guy 🙄 why didn't he talk about "sports ball"?
Even better, the importance of getting a good education? 🤔
religists have this vision that it will be just them and god and no one else in heaven. his sole purpose is to please god, by being an ass.
"sports ball" is such a delicious insult.😂😂
His mom is a highly educated professional
@@caseyjude5472and he's a highly ignorant moron...I guess sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree.
A particular version of sports ball no one even cares about
