In this video I explain how to diagnose the fuel system on a 2010 Chevy traverse using factory diagrams. This diagnosis is vital so that you don't replace unnecessary parts. This will help you determine if the fuel pump flow control module is bad or if the fuel pump itself is bad preventing the engine from starting. There is a simple test that you can run to determine if the fuel pump is bad. Simply disconnect the connector that runs between the fuel pump low control module and the fuel pump. It should be X308 or connector 308. Pin number one and two at the connector is the power and ground for the fuel pump. If you supply power to pin number one (gray wire) and ground to pin number 2 (pink wire), the fuel pump should run at full speed. If the fuel pump is good, you should see anywhere from 60 to 80 psi going up to the fuel rail. I would recommend to use a power probe for this test.
If you have access to a bidirectional scan tool and both engine control module and the fuel pump flow control module are communicating, you might be able to run a self test on the system. That should get the fuel pump running at full speed. I recommend using the Autel MaxiCOM MK808.
This is a customers vehicle and he was able to pull codes in the computer before contacting me. The codes stored in the engine control module were P0087 p0627 P069E. Upon checking there was no fuel pressure. The root cause was a faulty fuel pump low control module. Once the fuel pump flow control module was replaced and programmed, the engine was able to start and run once again.
To check the inputs to the fuel pump flow control module you would want to check for power on the pink wire pin 15 and the red wire/white stripe on pin 32. The black wire on pin 1 is ground. These must be checked before the fuel pump flow control module is replaced. I would also recommend to check the dark green wire with white stripe that runs between the engine control module and the fuel pump flow control module. This goes into the fuel pump flow control module on pin 13.
