This video should be useful to anyone working on a GY6 scooter not just a Genuine Buddy 125. But if you ARE working on a Genuine Buddy 125 (PGO) you can download a factory service manual here: shrsl.com/2pzmq
Here are some useful tools that will help you get this job done!
-Here is the flywheel puller I use in this video: amzn.to/2XPcVKz
-Here is an affordable impact kit that can get this job done: amzn.to/3alJ9ji
-Here is the impact driver I'm using in this video: amzn.to/2yoRaqC (I really stand behind this one)
-Here is the stator I installed in this video: www.scooterworks.com/NCY-Stat...
-Here is a cheaper stator alternative: amzn.to/2XT52Uz
There are many reasons you may want to replace your stator. Maybe it wont keep your battery charged or maybe your scooter doesn't run at all. This video should be able to guide you through the step by step process of replacing your scooter's stator.

I followed the steps and my scoot still did not start. I put my old CDI back on because the orange one ended up not working because it was AC. This was not giving me spark to my plug. Right as I tested the plug with the CDI that was DC “original cdi” not the aftermarket orange one. My scoot started up. It’s a 2010 Sunny and now it runs and starts very easy even without carb cleaner. To think if I hadn’t rescued the scoot it would have been junked. Keep the scoots alive!!! Thank you!!!!

Wow, I really love your videos! Just stumbled on to you after purchasing a 2007 Honda Ruckus at a steal. It's had charging issues since I got it a couple months ago and after replacing the battery without any change... I dove into a deep UA-cam Rabbit hole. You not only helped me diagnose the stator issue (Just borrowed a multimeter yesterday and cracked her open today) but you are incredibly easy to listen to and straight to the point. I LOVE the diagrams and how clear your shots are on the parts - pointing out and enunciating each as you go along. I'm a super hands on learner and the service manual makes my head spin, but after watching these videos, everything makes sense. Thank you again for taking the time to share your knowledge. Enjoyed both the Porno and Ragtime versions of the theme song in the background. But the OEM 8-Bit Atari version is the best.
And you're right, the last unrecommended method is terrible. It's an expensive part to mangle if it turns out not to be the problem, and it can be difficult to know with absolute certainty that the stator is bad.

I need help! My Gy6 Scooter (BMS Heritage 150) will only start if I bridge the two posts on the starter solenoid. Once started it runs perfectly. Electric start and kick start do not do a thing, wont even attempt to turn over. I replaced the started solenoid and no better.

Hello I have a question I recently had my cooling fan to break I mean totally into pieces and I changed the fan and after I rode the scooter i could hear something rattling around inside the stator coil housing and I'm thinking that pieces of that fan got in behind the stator coil housing and yesterday could not get my moped to start and I'm not getting a spark to the spark plug and I'm thinking that that fan. In the stator coil and messed it up have you ever heard of this happening?

I just recently got a buddy 50 Scooter I think the stator is bad because I have no spark is it normal for my stator to only have four wires three in the clip and one outside of that harness

I have 2018 kymco agility 50, it won't start using handle bar start button but will start using leg starter. After, it run for couple of minutes, then the handlebar start button works if it's warm.

Quick question, can you use a stator from a motorcycle on a 200cc kymco scooter? (model unknown)
