- This was our second trip to Gumvale Station near Tibooburra. We returned to the same location where we found a nice patch of gold 5 years ago. This time we had the GPX6000 as well as my GPZ7000. The GPX6000 proved to be a real gold finder in conjunction with the Coiltec Gold Hawk coil.
In this video we pass on some good tips about how to find gold at Gumvale Station. We noticed several pointers to gold which we share.

Great video Kev. Did Eliza come back home with you , or is she still out there 😆 she was having so much fun. I am going to head back to Bendigo in a couple of weeks, and spend another ten days there. My goal is to find eight little nugget, one each for the grand kids. I have spent about two hundred hours in the whipstick and only found five little nugget total half a gram, but enough to know it’s out there. I might try a little further north. Keep having fun out there Kev.
Yes, Eliza came back, she loves the gold but also misses the grandchildren. Good luck with the quest for gold nuggets. What machine you using these days?

Thanks, we love Tibooburra. I’m filming with an iPhone with an external microphone. Struggling a bit with wind noise even with a wind sock.
@@BKGoldDetecting The best two we’ve had come from Tibooburra were back in the early 90’s. One was a 41 gm piece in a creek bed and a 20 grammer out of a little dam wall in the Nuggety Gully area. We also saw a nice 37 grammer out of a dry blowing heap by some people from SA back in the 90’s it came from down behind the tip area.
Love your channel guys , it seems like every thing Alisa cooks is your favourite. If i could ask what are the setings you use on the 6000.
Eliza uses unique settings because she is hearing impaired. She tends to run in difficult mode with high sensitivity and max volume. It works for her but I prefer a smooth threshold which usually means lower sensitivity. A lot depends on the area, if the ground is hot, lower settings, if quiet you can go to normal mode for higher sensitivity.
Another great video, we want to come up through here on our way back home on our big lap. We’re heading for Cue now so hopefully get some more yellow. Can you tell me what brand are your gaters please. Do you need permission to camp and detect on Gumvale mate?
Sounds like a great lap you’re doing… my gaiters are a brand called Sea to Summit. Gumvale is $10 a day to camp anywhere you like on the Station except a small area close to the homestead. It’s an additional $15 to detect. If you do decide to head there PM me and I’ll give you the location we filmed and some tips. Can’t guarantee we have left much behind tho, but no one gets it all. ⛏️⛏️

Hi Kevin, myself and my partner enjoy your videos. We have been panning for a few years and beach detecting for the last yea. We are moving to WA in the next year and would like to buy two detectors. We have researched thoroughly but keep jumping between a combination of gpx 5000, gpx 6000 and gpz 7000. What we be your two recommended detectors for a couple and why? Thanks
Wow, tough choice, we have all 3 and love them all but for different reasons. Firstly cost, don’t be fooled by the big price tag on the GPZ and the 6000 compared to the 5000. For someone starting out the 5000 offers amazing value and once mastered can find most gold that the other 2 will find if you use the right coil. The sheer number of coil options for the 5000 make it a very versatile detector.
I love the GPZ, but the 6000 is much lighter to use and will often find small stuff that the GPZ misses.
The GPZ has some options that I love, the navigation feature is one, plus the depth of bigger gold.
So it’s not an easy decision but for someone starting out I would suggest going for the lowest cost option first to test the waters. I would suggest second hand 5000 which can be picked up for a very reasonable price and perhaps a 6000.
@@BKGoldDetecting Thanks Kevin, I was leaning towards a 5000 with different coils and a gpx 6000 for her so that's good to know. I just wasn't sure whether it was the better option and missing out on the Z considering they can be picked up for 6.5k now.
What coil are you using mate?
I’m using the nugget finder 12inch on the GPZ. Eliza has the Coiltec Gold Hawk on the 6000.

Can i ask why you dont use a pin pointer?
I often use a pin pointer as you would see in my video series. Didn’t have the need for it at Tibooburra as most of the gold was very small. When digging a very deep large target they are great.
Does the station take a cut of the gold?
No but the station charges $15 a day to detect + $5 a night to camp
