  • We return to an old patch near Inglewood where I found some big nuggets about 6 years ago. We clear and scrape a small area where we found them and tried our luck. It was also a good opportunity to try out Elizas new detector, a Minelab GPX 6000. I was using my GPX 7000, my favourite detector. We love to search for gold nuggets in Australia. Gold detecting in Australia can be very rewarding but you do need to work hard and persist.

    Shalom Dear Brian & Lisa.
After 6 weeks in the Clermont areas, with only .4 grams of finds.
This Great Informed Video, will assist us greatly in the search for the elusive Shiny Stuff.

thank you for producing such an informative series of videos...I'm new to detecting and you have given me some new optimism, I'll put your principles into play.

Thanks for watching, let’s hope the gold starts to flow. Move the coil very slow and keep close to the ground. A lot of gold we find starts off being a veg faint signal. Tune your ears into the normal chatter and try to pick out anything that’s different. Often it’s just a slight increase in or decrease in tone or a fluctuation of the signal.

Great video and advice with normal mode. Would you mind sharing settings for normal mode. TIA

There are no settings that work on all ground. What I do is adjust the sensitivity in difficult mode to get threshold that is consistent. I rarely touch the threshold setting, usually at factory preset.
I use the same settings when I switch to normal mode, but need to raise the coil slightly and move slowly. If you don’t do this it will be way too noisy. I never use ground smoothing, in my opinion it masks those faint sounds you are trying to pick up.

You’ll be surprised how deep the 6 goes. You’re not far from the test patch across from the Harness track. Give it a go against the zed

Your 7 should of picked up the peice your wife got on the patch you dug up. I run a 5 with evo coils and it would of got that very easy

It would have picked it up easily, I didn’t detect on that area, I gave Eliza the first shot at it… my mistake :)

Btw, I love the 5000, still have one and I reckon I would get most if not all the gold my 7000 picks up.
