- I know it's not the first encounter, but a lot of people seemed to be struggling with the Beast/Pleasure Garden fight based on what I've been reading, so we're going to start here instead. Think Gorgons from Atheon, except you actually have to do stuff. More guides coming.
I noticed that a lot of people had issues with the beasts randomly sprinting around and going out of control. My team never really experienced this issue too much, only about 1 or 2 times and I think it might be related to sprinting around the beasts too much. My best advice to counter this would simply be to just walk instead of sprint whenever possible.

So, the mid-left spore may not be EXACTLY correct on the map, it might be a little bit more north of where I placed it, but it's in that general area.

you just have to go from the start zone, to the castelum and then repeat the process of opening up the door. Once you do that you can just go to the boss from there since the castelum will be locked at whatever fight you're currently on.
Datto when are you going to release the other parts because my brother doesn't want to do it until you release all the parts.
Datto IDK if you have addressed this already or if I missed something in the video, but you only need to kill 4 beast not all 6.

Try a way you would never try. me and my crew got one plant buff, kill 3 dogs went back to the bunker. came back out did the same thing and we beat it
You forgot to mention that listening to War Pigs during the entire encounter adds another stack of Empowering Spores.

Fuck this part. A timed stealth section, just what we needed in a fps raid.
Shayne Moxley I like it. It's a nice break from the constant shooting in destiny. We need more things like this IMO.
Sweet Muffin I'm fine with something different just not really in the raid. The gorgons were fine because it was more like a quick(usually) break between the Templar encounters and Aetheon encounters. I understand why people may not mind the pleasure gardens, I just can't stand it.

Shayne Moxley Understandable. I think the gorgons are a perfect middle ground. They are super hard in the beginning but once you figure it out it's literally 30 seconds. I think the issue with this is the dogs are super glitchy. Maybe when they get fixed it'll be a lot better but I can understand why someone people would hate this section. This raid is a huge communication check. If that's your team's biggest weakness your fucked.

Spent like 5 hours on this yesterday, it's extremely frustrating, unpredictable, and glitchy. I hate this encounter, it just makes me not want to do the raid. Hopefully I can find someone who's passed it and can help me. Thanks for the guide.

To be honest, this part made me just stop and not gonna bother with it from now on.
And it isn't even as if it's "super hard". It was all the parts where the dogs would glitch into the safe room; forcing a wipe. Or everyone behind a rock, and dog teleports in front of you, DOES NOT see you for ten seconds; and then just does. Or When the pups seem to break their path and run allllll the way to you.
However, knowing that the time gets shorter depending on the amount of dogs left; explains quite a bit.

Namohs it's not a glitch actually the enemies are what causes the dogs to go wild. The beast centurion and the laser guys you have to kill them

My team used rat kings and it MELTED these things
Our group found relatively quick success with a different strategy, instead of edging them wed while a side the first safe room then work from there. Maybe wasn't the easiest way but it worked. We also found little issues with sprinting around after we all know the routes like the back of our hands

Datto don't know if you found this yet but right when you start the raid there's a room to your left where there's six switches and there's a order to them after you do them there will be a second door that will open farther down to the left with more switches after you do that one the waterfall will turn off to left and you have to climb it and you will be in the leviathan where there's many puzzles with chest and you need keys also you need six people hope you see this and hope I explained it as best as I could because me and my fire team found this and are still looking into it :)

Our team did this in on phase but we needed x60 empowering spores to do it. I recommend only using single use supers (nova bomb, fist of havoc because of the lasting area effect, and golden gun with celestial nighthawk) and swords. Everyone has to take care of their own dog though.
Not sure if already mentioned, and I'm not reading through 536 comments, but Left prism holder can hit all 4 flowers from the head of calus near L3. Hope it helps someone.

same with my raid party, we'd get on a good run and then in the third phase or something the dog would spawn in the room with us.. and just wreck.

Never thought I'd say this Datto, but I'll one up you in this one: Assign a beast to every player - get 48 stack buff, and then everybody burns their beast in one go, as soon as they are done, assist the ones not done (callouts) good weapons: auto-shotty, merciless and coldheart. Also Supers like Nova bomb, celestial nighthawk golden gun and shadowshot! worked wonders.
Sometimes it can be hard for teams to reach 48 consistently
After getting stuck for 4 hours yesterday, we found a great route that worked perfectly every run. The entire middle of the garden is basically empty, so instead of sneaking around we just sit in tree mid bc theres usually an open spore across from it. So we hit mid left and Sprint right back to tree mid, and stack 36. Then we all get ready to dps by splitting up, and we damage as many dogs as possible without killing. We regroup, figure out if we missed a dog, and we attack that dog next time around. I think merciless works best for sure, someone using it had about triple our damage every time
I have to use LFG because none of my friends are high enough for the raid, and we got stuck on the part for a while. Hopefully I can get past it today with this strategy, instead of trying to kill all 6 in one go

The raid up to this point was simple, it's unfortunate that my fireteam just wants to hog up the voice comms for this whole encounter lol but I can't wait to get to the point where this raid gets to the point where we can run it with no issues like how we can run Vault or Kings Fall.

Additionally, there were rounds that we did not kill a beast, but we still had a reduced time span for getting the buff for the next round. It is not linked to how many beasts you kill.

Datto i know this is kind of early to be asking for but do you think you can make a vid on which guns do the best dps on calusus the finals boss in the raid bc i see a lot of streamers and people using the ps4 exclusive sniper but i play xbox.. And not sure what weapon is really the best dps wise on the final boss because thats a really big problem my raid team has.. Thanks ❤

Datto, your stream was great and amazing. I also had high hopes that you would've been the one to be 1st ever in the world to clear the raid, but due to Bungie's shitty optimization and in-game glitches, it set you guys back quite a bit. But one thing I didn't understand is... if you were trying so hard to be #1, why the hell didn't you guys think about dps?! I mean, there were lots of titans in your fireteam and a hunter and you mean to tell me that no one though about using Weapons of Light and Tether shot?? If only you guys had done that, you would've been able to clear this shit faster.
"LFG killer" yeah no joke, I would love to have a team that's half as dedicated as some of these teams.
My group and I on our third attempt I was prism holder and when I shot a beast handler the beast was alerted but the damage phase didnt start so when it was running to its flower but It ran into another beast so they bot stuck on each other and we just killed them both easily because they couldnt move
any idea if hunter's vanash in smoke can help one not be found by the beasts?

This Raid was so fun going in blind. All of the encounters felt very unique and the raid was much more reliant on skill and knowledge of the mechanics, rather than the bosses being high level bullets sponges that only over leveled players could defeat.

I'd love your thought on the raid loot Datto. Tokens just feel so bland compared to getting actual gear. Seems like a step back from WoTM which was super rewarding and fun to play because of that.
medleyoz You still get gear from the encounters. Tokens are just there to get even more loot after completions. However some people have been getting unlucky and have ONLY been getting tokens.
Yeah I know you get gear I got a sword from the pleasure gardens and a chest piece from Calus every other encounter was just tokens. Just compared to the improvements in loot in Wrath where you got loot at every encounter and as well as keys to spend at the encounter you wanted for more loot seems like a step back. Tokens would be fine if it was an addition like the siva key fragments. Just in terms of the player experience beating bosses and getting tokens doesn't feel rewarding or exciting to me. I know there is more to this raid with the whole underbelly exploration stuff with chests locked behind doors etc so will just need to wait until we all have that figured out and maybe the raid will feel a bit more rewarding.

Killed all six beasts in one phase yesterday. I think we got the buff up to 72. Beasts went doen very quick

We basically did the exact same thing, but our goal was to get to a 48 stack, then have every fire team member go one-on-one with a Beast. With 275+ light, 48 stacks, and solid damage, it is entirely possibly to solo a beast.

I'm still having a little trouble understanding.. so when the two people above ground shoot a spore, do the people with the weird purple spore things hold a button to absorb it or do they just have to stand next to it?
They just have to stand next to it when it's hit by the laser. Make sure all 4 people are close-by, or you won't get the full 12-stack.

As a note, the dog at "close left" is a bastard. It has glitched out for us and spawned inside the safe room a few times, as well as randomly turned around in an instant. Be extra cautious with it.
If you get good RNG on spore spawns it's possible to get to 72 or even 84 stacks. We almost made it to 84 one run but the time ran out. At 72 it felt like we could all solo them, so at 84 I imagine it can take a single run.
How many beasts are there?
Guys this part is easier than it looks it took me my fireteam several tries but we got it done just pay attention to the dogs analyze the paths and learn where to go, make paths have backup routes for when you're cut off and have patience with this especially to those new to the raid you're not gonna get it on the first try or on the tenth try it's trail and error learn through your mistakes and be nice to new players they can't learn if you don't help them out. Also pulse grenades melt at 36 or higher stacks we would end up killing our dogs by accident before we completed it.

Yes, people just had a lot of questions about this encounter, so I wanted to put this out first.

Hardest first, easy part later
My team had set beasts to kill, instead of getting everyone low or kill a few/have the whole team target one at a time, each person would kill their own beast, usually they are powerful enough to kill em by themselves, on our victory run we killed all but one dog, and he was pretty low, we obviously didn't have enough time to get some stacks so we all just came at him at once finishing the fight. I was caught so many times by those dogs while on the platforms (mostly on the right side), it definitely feels like a glitch. and those running dogs are killer. also the snipers that run to the ground, right side if he went down there, he would always get us caught...I feel like right side is cursed lol
