Note: for the final stand, everyone becomes Engulfed and should throw a ball at the boss in order to survive. If all 6 people grab 1 ball each, it will deal a significant amount more damage than if 1 person picks up multiples.
This is due to the Engulfed mechanic. Picking up a none charged orb with engulfed super charges the ball for damage on Ca'our, picking up extra balls and throwing them without supercharging them causes little to no damage
Does holding the bomb; thus building up a higher greed stack, result in a higher DPS output? Or, is it just that the buff needs to be applied to do X damage, regardless of Greed Stacks
No. The greed mechanic is to represent the weight of a charged ball on a guardian, sort of like the weight of darkness from the abyss in crota's end; once it hits ten you can't move or in this case you die
Something about these videos, I get a severe case of A.D.D. and continuously have to rewind. I'm convinced it has something to do with the background music.
"Presumably because he along with the other 'Val's, stole the Vanguard's limited supply of vowels". I literally fell out of my chair. Thank you so much Datto, not only are you good at making guides, but your humor is basically prestige level.
Datto, wtf is this guide?! Its amazing! I was really suprised with the quality of this video. Your know how, the diagrams, suggestions the background music. Really really well put together. I could hear a difference in your voice too. You sound very positive and very professional. I dig it. Keep it up boss.
Mohammed jawahri I noticed this on the data fragment locations video also, he sounds excited and enthusiastic about finally having something to hunt, grind for and something actually challenging to do in D2 for once.
Havent played destiny in like a year and couldnt care less about anything to do with it but still watch dattos guides just for the music in the background
Love that your content for D2 is back. Completed up to part 1 with randoms with LFG, but part 2 has us gear checked (we were around 361 Light). We were like “Nah, not bashing our heads against this wall. Let’s come back to this next week at 370+ Light.”
Thanks for the guide datto always like to watch your guides before go to do raids. hope you be able to rest in some degree after that crazy day, of the world first. I remember I watch from hour 3 to 7 and I was sick of watching, playing should be worst. love your videos please never stop to from make this awesome content!
Didn't get either dlc. Felt too burned by base destiny 2 but I got to say it's still as entertaining as ever to watch these guides. I really hope the fall dlc can be like ttk for destiny 2, and fix most if not all of the problems.
This DLC is far better than CoO. Certainly doesn't completely "fix" the game, but there's a heap of improvements. I get that you might be burned out though.

Man I gotta say, this is probably the hardest content D2 has to offer. I still think my difficulty rankings for day 1 of activities would be: 1. Skolas- hands down the most absurd boss I’ve fought in destiny on day 1 2. Probably the whole of VoG simply because I’d never experienced a raid encounter until then 3. King’s Fall both normal and hard mode because wow what a load to learn 4. Val Ca’uor- gotta give Bungie props here, we asked for difficulty and they listened. 5. Leviathan- specifically Calus, it’s a joke now but that Day 1 struggle was pretty rough As a side note, I’m pretty sure the difficulty of Day 1 SoS and Leviathan comes from cabal in D2 becoming exponentially harder the higher light they are over you, it only really seems to be this enemy type too
Adam Hulke xeno 1k and ofc the big dick combo with witherhoard and falling guillotine whisper if only the boss is stationery and has a large head or u have a divinity in your group For solo just use mountain top + primary of your choice + anarchy
Adam Hulke wardcliff can one phase him easily, snipers aren’t very good because there’s lots of ads and you have to hit his backpack thing for headshots
I finally got around to this in solstice of heros...we got to phase 2 and everyone decided they were done before even attempting it...so I'm here to learn how to do this but I honestly think I'm more confuses now than I was before...either way, thanks for the info man lol
That was such a long stream; I hope you were able to go out and get that Chick-fil-a you wanted as celebration. You seemed so somber after it was all over.
Thanks Datto. Great guide. Having completed this Raid, I STILL believe this is the most annoying, unnecessarily complicated Raid in the entire series, and easily my least favorite. Even Leviathan had its moments with Baths and the Gauntlet (Calus can suck my nuts). The concept of Spire of Stars is so cool, and the lore in interesting. Also, Calus being on your side is neat. But each step felt more annoying than the last, and it immensely frustrated me and several teammates. This Raid was NOT designed for LFG at all, and I think that’s what made it 100x worse for me. I’m happy I completed it, just to get it out of the way, but unless I can play it with friends, I’m never touching it again. I hope Forsaken has more raids like D1 or even Eater of Worlds, which is the best D2 raid imo.
Damn, you did 4kin crazy amazing not being the 370+ light you're recommending.....thanks for the heads up....those are some crazy mechanics.....this takes over Atheon for mechanics and complexity now
I can confirm that you will have a better time surviving with 370 gear minimum. I did a crazy strat with many raiden flux arc hunters and a melting pt titan. With this strat and everyone at or exceeding the minimum level, we managed to two phase him. This was also my first run in this raid lair.
Just a tip, there's a glitch that resets your greed. Throw the ball at a wall and pop super, catching it during the animation, and it puts your greed down to 1
Starting with Crota every D1 raid, followed by Oryx and WOTM, was declared "The LFG Killer" and LFG survived them all. LFG became even more reliable with Calus and EOW and the use Raid Report. Time will tell.
I used the same loadout as you, Datto. 376 MC, 374 raid pulse, 370 CC on a 374 Striker titan. My other teammate who was at 373 was using a Crimson, not sure what light level. It's a fantastic PvE weapon in this patch and for this fight though, in our opinion, because you get free ammo via headshot kills as well as health on kills with the weapon. I ended up switching to Striker because our group only had 2 Titans and we were utilising the far left and far right back rooms to avoid the boss' missiles. Our 363 Titan was applying melting point when the boss' shield was broken, and I would chuck two pulse bombs at the boss before going to the room to put my barricade down. In the right room, we had one of our teammates checking for psions lest we get booped up and waste DPS time, with rally barricade and empowering rift allowing us to dump our rockets into the boss and then switch to my pulse rifle for some extra damage until he closes up. We split up into 2 teams of 3, which allows 1 team of 3 at any given point to get free access to the boss' crit spot. Striker subclass top tree allowed me to jump in the air as the gladiadors are spawning, and my gladiator in the far right plate would go down in 1 or 2 R1 melee hits in super after the slam, then I would go to R1 plate (we called it plate #2) and see if their gladiator needed a melee, or I could also sit in front of him in my super and tank his damage for my teammates. Hope this helps.
Note: for the final stand, everyone becomes Engulfed and should throw a ball at the boss in order to survive. If all 6 people grab 1 ball each, it will deal a significant amount more damage than if 1 person picks up multiples.
Does throwing 6 at a time like in Wrath of the Machine do more damage? Thanks.

Who wouldn’t believe we would be beating this boss with a legendary sword in the future to 1 phase him
Does ward cliff not work anymore
Aaron Gibson oh it works...
Cofee Table why use sword when wardcliff still nukes
Wardcliff coil still better option tho,he’s getting melt like Nokris in master NF ordeal
Can't do that on prestige though! Lol
The only raid that when I watched for the first time I actually had no clue what was going on. Let it begin!
I love the background music, never change it
David Pedroza reminds me of the good ol' days
he had the same background music in the Wrath of the machines tutorial
Does the background music have a name?
Classic Datto

I can already feel the anger of 6 complete strangers trying to lfg this. The amount of rage quits will be crazy
Jesse Jolda Destiny raids are the only things that will ever get me to try and find friends...hehe...😢
Jesse Jolda Ya see, the issue is. If it's Console, they quit over petty things. With PC, quit isn't in their terminology. But neither is thinking.
I did my first clear on lfg and it only took 2 hours
As someone who got stuck on this boss for 10+ hours, with over 4 LFG teams, yes this was cancer
My tip of aadvice is to find a group of adults and act mature they are more likely to get it done than a bunch of 12 year olds.
Was there the entire stream, and when ya beat him. Proud of you daddo (:
So as it turns out, NOT the final Leviathan raid experience.
Looks like this was recommended so I could brush up on my raid knowledge for moments of triumph!

Jfc Datto the limited supply of vowels joke had me rolling, great video
Thank you so much for the guide! Me and my lfg team finally managed to clear the boss encounter after 2 hours. :"D
Melting point and supering as the boss kicks you away looks sooo badass. When I switch to PS4 soon I’m manning hammer Titan.
“Because he stole from the Vanguard’s limited supply of vowels”
I almost spat out my drink at this. Excellent guide, and still with moments of humor.
Thanks for getting this video up datto! I know how frustrating raiding can be at times
Seriously, Datto, thanks for the work you're putting in.
Watched most of your stream, didn't understand it then, but do now. Thanks Datto!
