    I have the Griot’s Garage Mini 3” Polisher that works very well on tight areas. But I also use it to spread paste wax with a black pad when applying Collinite 915. The size of the pad fits right into the pot! Not sure if anyone else uses a mini like that, but it works great for wax application.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому +1

      i think the smaller hex are 4 inch right. they might be a little bit too big for this 3 inch plate. also the flat wall hex logics can just about cope with the smaller throw DA's. but Im not so sure about long throws. so if you are using a 15 mill throw mains teamed up with this I would check out the buff and shine uro tec pads from in2detailing. Or perhaps the rupes pads. I have not had a chance to play with all the cone pads yet for the pad review though but those are solid shouts either way.

    That price is amazing. If that had been around last year I’d have definitely got that instead of my Rupes 75e. Saying that, I find I use it much more than I expected to so am glad I got the Rupes. I think the correction abilities of these cheaper versions are pretty much the same as the premium ones, so are a bargain. I would expect a longer life from the premium offerings.

    Great review of this bang for buck mini da mate, it may have some minor issues over the more expensive Flex and Rupes but at that price.... Its unbeatable, l used my Flex xfe 7-12-80 for the first time on Saturday Jeez straight away l thought it was very heavy considering its size and that stupid switch on a £300 tool, also l wasn't that impressed with the actual bulk/girth, it doesn't taper down like its big brother the xfe 7-15 - 150.... To be honest l only got the Flex because l have its big brother if not l would have saved myself £205 and gone with the In2detaling one, again your enthusiasm is what your channel is all about mate, looking to the pad review trilogy coz that topic surely can't be covered in one video

    Loving the videos! Learned a lot. Just bought the Sonax Pefect Finish and green pads off the back of watching some of the older videos. It’s working an absolute dream!
    Question, the yellow Korean microfibres! I’ve done front bumper, bonnet and front wings so far, I moved onto the door today and the microfibre is starting to squeak and drag a little when removing the polish residue, is that a good sign to start using a new one?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      no its good mate. Im always looking for advice in this. I record in 720p. and render to 1080p. one thing with my camera is when I use auto or semi auto settings the light balance and some of the auto features seem to mess with the image quality. Ive started shooting in full manual and the footage looks a bit better. although saying that any video where Im say 3-4 meters away from the camera always looks a bit rubbish.. but footage close to the camera can look really good. I think it might be due to the kit lens and low light operation or something.. Im really not sure but its a pretty cheap DSLR..

    • @heathenfpv206
      @heathenfpv206 6 років тому

      I hear ya, 90% of cameras in auto mode will make the wrong decision 99% of the time, have you ever thought of using a gopro to record? used in the correct way with a external mic plugged in can yield some great results, one thing i like about using a gopro is there is no focus as in its always in focus so it don't matter if you come in or out or pick the camera up and point it at swirling on a panel it's always focused, you can record in 2k resolution and the export to 1080p or stick to the 2k format and would take your videos to the next level watch this video ua-cam.com/video/2YEePcJZcFI/v-deo.html has a part 2 also about ideal camera settings and basic colour grading (which you may not need as your predominantly in your garage) i found it really useful as even gopros auto mode can sometimes go wrong, personally i wouldn't bother with 720p i shoot in 2k most of the time and export in 1080p, i would shoot 4k if it wasn't some memory hungry and so labour intensive for the computer to edit, cheers Alex

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      thanks buddy I am watching this now. go pro is the next thing I want to get.. one I can put an external mic on for in car shooting and also shooting like POV and clip on to the lance for funky shots and stuff.
      which go pro is the one to go for?
      At some point I might get a better camera as well although Im sure most of the quality issues are more to do with me not having a clue abuot this :)

      @heathenfpv206 6 років тому

      well the latest and greatest is the hero 6, but quite frankly the hero 5 is more than you need it records all the way to 4k with good frame rate options you can find a hero 5 second hand for £200 and that'll probably be a kit with some accessories and stuff here's a vid on connecting a mic, you can choose a directional one like in the video but a lapel mic would probably work well for you, good luck ua-cam.com/video/Ao14TUpVJzw/v-deo.html

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому +1

      1:5 mate heres the directions from AG.. be carefull with this stuff.. Its very cool on filthy messed up neglected alloys.. dont let it dry, rubber gloves and little safety glasses always good with acids (although its not that bad specially at 5:1 but ya know pays to be sensible).. spray on work it rinse off. ideally wheels off if you can.
      Shake well before use.
      Dilute with water depending on soiling levels.
      Pre rinse wheels before applying product to ensure all loose soiling is removed.
      Spray directly onto the area to be cleaned and leave to soak for a few moments.
      Agitate with a wheel brush if desired/needed
      Rinse thoroughly with high pressure wash ensuring all product is removed.
      Dilution Rates:
      Lightly soiled wheels - 10:1 - 5:1
      Heavily soiled wheels - 5:1 - Neat
      Not for use on sensitive wheel finishes like diamond cut, chrome or polished wheels.

    would it not be better buying a das 6 pro with a 3 inch backing plate that has a 900w motor plus u have a 5 inch backing plate best off both worlds

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      budget wise yes.. but the das6 pro doesnt have the ability to cut as rapidly as the long throws. plus swapping plates every time you need a mini is a major pain.. yes you might be able to swallow doing that if your polishing once a year perhaps.. or live with it etc.. ideally though you would have your main 15 ml throw polisher set with a 5.5 inch pad and then the mini ready to roll with a 80ml pad...

    • @dejedejsson
      @dejedejsson 6 років тому

      But it has only 1mm longer throw than Das 6 pro, a "real" mini has 12mm, buy a Das 6 pro, more machine for the money!

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      you would buy this to pair up with a long throw that doesnt support small plates. Im not sure If I would buy a DAs6 pro instead of this and run 3 1/2 inch plates on that.. but you could do. the DAs6 pro is like the one you can buy which can support a range of plates if you want one tool. but its too much of a pain to swap plates really. but I guess if its one car a year you can swallow that and just swap them.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 роки тому +1

      I think you would be better using a normal DA that supports a smaller plate than a smaller DA that does not support a larger one.. just my thoughts.. because the larger machine will have been built to cope with the extra demand of the larger plate and pad. Also this mini machine has a counter balance for the OEM small plate.. If you put a big plate in you will be doing 80% of your polishing with a larger plate that is not balanced properly and you will get more vibration... this is just a brain dump.

      Not entirely sure which I'm gonna go for just yet. I know you recommend the DAS 6 pro as the best for newbies, but I'm just debating whether the missus will kill me for spending £160+ (factoring pads and polish) for something I will likely use once every 6 months to begin with.

    That's unfortunate. No sooner do you do the review than they stop listing them.

      That's the power of a positive review from you Jon. I have maxxed out my new kit budget for this month so I can wait a while. Different computer...different log in name. Interesting!

      I had the same issue when I was looking to buy the week before the review. It just disappeared from their website so I enquired when they’d be back in stock and it simply reappeared! Might be worth contacting them direct to check stock levels.

      @@hoppy1888 . I have noticed that with other items. I have spent way too much this month so I will wait a while before ordering one.

    This is polisher is made by clover. I tried it and it vibrated horribly!!!

      IMHO all "mini" polisher will vibrate a lot more than full size ones, because 1. they will have less inertia (which helps with stabilization), 2. the pad will have less resistance against sideway turns, and 3. the way you're holding them won't help the situation either

      Not true. I have an Adam's "mini" and it's WAY smoother than this polisher.

    You can see it stall at the 8min or so mark, yuck

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 років тому

      bob its a free spinning DA that Im running up and down a curved channel.. any free spinning DA can and will stall under certain circumstances its not a problem. what you dont want is it to be too prone to stall and generally they can be on the larger throw bigger machines where the plate rubs over the shroud as part of the design. these mini tools the plates dont butt up against the shroud because theres generally less pressure or wear on the bearings due to the fact the supported 3 inch plate is smaller (less leverage on the bearing). peeps panic about stall and think if the plate stops spinning for a second its a problem.. it isnt its part of how these machines work.
