      Hi there,
      If you are one that grows indoor plants, i would recommend to opt for organic, vegan and peat-free compost, as well as organic liquid feed that does not contain sea weed due to radiation in the seas, i believe. Please have a look at this video that i believe it will be of great help ua-cam.com/video/Zklb59V5CeM/v-deo.html

Like you, I like to experiment so I don't mind even if the yield is low. It's amazing how well these plants can actually adapt the new environment. I will keep them growing then propagate from them for outdoor next spring. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    I've been growing in a storage room with LED grow lights for a couple of years. Its a great hobby during those cold winter months. Great success with tomatoes, peppers and spices but zero with luck with leafy greens. Absolutely spot on about over-watering, It's my usual problem and I've had fungus problems with plants.. I almost prefer to grow in winter as soil gnats can be a huge pain. LED grow lights aren't that expensive anymore or you can just use small florescent or LED bulbs. The florescent will be a better grow spectrum but generate heat which can be a problem in a small confined space. The LED bulbs(household types, not proper LED grow lights) generate little heat but are set to ONE spectrum so you'll need to get a couple, one 6500k and one 2700k. They are a cheap option but have limited lum output/range.

    • @eithnemelee2997
      @eithnemelee2997 2 роки тому

      Pro tip from a houseplant lover who used to have a fungus gnat problem: A diluted mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water, poured into the soil, will kill the fungus gnats and their eggs! Hydrogen peroxide dissociates into water and oxygen so it's completely harmless for edible crops. It can also be used to treat fungus and root rot.

    PAR spectrum is more important than Kelvin temperature. Spectrum coverage may vary independently from light temperature. "Full spectrum" also isn't precise defined, so you should look for a graph or percentage values specifying how much of the total light output is in the red and blue spectra.

    Perhaps you can help me understand something I have been stuck on not understsnding. No matter what kind of soil, be it soil-less mixed with other stuff or not, I always wonder if i watered it too much if the soil would rot. With your indoor containers in this video, what do you do to make sure (other than having soilless, of not over-watering and preventing rot or mold in the soil and plants? As a new learner of potting, i have not gotten good enough understanding of this yet to e confident i will not overwater.

    Hello! I’d like to get some help for my plants. I live in a tiny condo with lots of natural light but no direct sunlight for 9 months a year. Next to a large window I have a little pine, a little lemon tree, some gardenias and many more plants. They’ve survived previous winters, but they get “sad” without sunlight and some of them tend to go long reaching out for light and weak.
    Do you think LED grow lights could help? Red lights? How many of them?

      I'd say the one with the most sunlight. That's what plants needs to grow, and in winter there's not a lot of it so they need everything they can get. Good luck with your garden ! :)

    Question- I live in northern BC and during the winter- we don't get a lot of sunlight because it's always cloudy. I planted herbs (from seeds) on a grow mat and they have germinated and doing great. I'd like to put them in my south/west facing kitchen window but I'm concerned about the lack of sunshine. When the sun is out, it's the sunniest place in the house getting all afternoon-evening sun. Will cloudy sunshine be enough?

      It is hard to say. It should be but I am even finding I need grow lights to get my plants started and once they are growing they should do fine :)

      Canadaheather. I read in another channel that when seeds start to germinate, need 18 hours of light, and after 7-10 days 16 and then 14 hours.

    do you mean any rating in between 2100 - 6000K? Like could it be 5000K? or specifically 2100K and 6000K are my 2 best options? And if I like the warmer light of 2100K that is just as good?

    hi I am a senior. I wish to grow fresh food in my apartment. I have a set up where I can grow things in a 5ft by 3ft area. I have grow lights and a large window across the front of my grow ares. It is the root area needed to grow these vegs that confuse me. what can I grow in containers that are only 4 inches deep and 6 inches deep 10 and 12 inches deep? I know I know I only need 1 kale plant but how deep does the soil need to be? Lettuce and baby greens need only a few inches but the plants like tiny tomatoes, cucumbers, and other things I might like to try. Right know I grow sprouts, microgreens and pea shoots, but I really want to try other mature plants . Can you help me? thank you for reading this. Barbarajean

      You can grow leafy greens and herbs under t5 any other crops you can start but may struggle to get production. There is a playlist on my channel page showing more indoor growing.

    They green plants at my office attract small flies. How to avoid flies from indoor plants?

      If they're aphids ( little green bugs) try spraying the plant with water and a little bit of washing up liquid. Worked for me.
