    For me, this is huge. It simplifies Fusion in so many ways. The complexity of merge node spiderwebs was often too much for motion gfx. It's why I kept going back to After Effects. Can't wait to try it out.

    Hey Jake, I played around with this for a bit.. Looks interesting. Wish there was a bit better way to display the nodes.. it can get kind of messy, but definitely works. Also wish there was a way to automatically set/link the layer name to the main node feeding into the input.. ex. you attach some media, set the node name.. when you connect would be nice if they could auto use that for the node name (update layer name if you rename the node_..Ex. set nose name to Blue Background.. When you attach.. layer would be called blue background... .BUT would get super tricky if you had a big node tree.. not sure how they would know which node to use for the layer naming.

      Hey! I totally agree. I would be happy if it would just use the name of the node that directly goes into it. In my example, Glow1. Then I could rename that node if I wanted. It's still in beta so let's hope they add that in an update!

      You can group nodes to clean up the node tree.

    Multi merge is cool man but those USD tools are so much cooler IMO, they even added an USD hydra delegate renderer that renders 3D scenes in Fusion in realtime. Nuke recently added USD based 3D system with their recent update version 14, this Fusion update is gonna give Nuke a run for their money. Oh yeah.

    Great super practical example of why you would want to use the multi merge node- hit the sub button immediately

    This is great. Thx for this video!
    Coming from Hitfilm, this is perfect. Power of nodes merged with layers. Staying organized shouldn’t be that much of an issue.
    The beta seems to get more oomph out of my older rig too. Less stutter in the editor.

    And your explanation kept we tatching so I sub'd! Thank u Jake.

    This is amazing! As someone who switched from adobe to resolve i always had something like this in mind for merge... Like how it was possible for 3D in fusion that you could add everything in a single merge node... I love it makes things alot easier

    is there anyway to move the all the elements on the multimerge node together? I am trying to reposition a small composition, but I can't find a way to move all together.

    Being an after effects person, to me fusion has always been a cluster fuck. This takes me one step closer to being able to use fusion. Just discovered your channel.
    But for me, after effects is still 100 times easier to use. Though I am getting my feet wet !

    • @JakeWipp
      @JakeWipp  Рік тому +2

      That's awesome! Fusion has a bit of a learning curve but becomes so much more powerful when you understand how it works!

    • @Docfly62
      @Docfly62 Рік тому

      So may I ask why are you motivated to learn Fusion if AE is so much easier? I truly want to know and not trying to start a VFX war LOL

    • @asphaltandtacos
      @asphaltandtacos Рік тому

      @@Docfly62 There is no need to pre comp for starters which is a huge benefit. You can create multiple comps then choose the one you like. Nearly every node has versions which allows you to try out different settings to see what works best. Oh, there is no need for the Dynamic Link workflow which is even better. You can save out node trees and access them wherever you need them.

  • @dpixvid
    @dpixvid Рік тому

    ...”just like after effects”... they could kill AE if they bridge a layer workflow or expand this or similar merge nodes. That would be awesome!

    This video is just a waste of time. I wanted to know how to change the opacity of all the foregrounds all at once instead of changing the parameter in each foreground. I figured out 5 seconds after I stopped watching this video. This is just for people who has never heard of multimerge. No trouble shooting
