- What should you do after getting arrested for a DUI? How much does a DUI cost? Should you get a lawyer for a DUI? How long until you get your license back? In this video, I'll be sharing my story of being arrested for a DUI with a BAC of .14 and the exact process I went through in terms of jail time, lawyers, court fees, car insurance, DUI school and more to get my license back and get this ordeal behind me. When I was first arrested for a DUI I had no idea what to expect and was looking for a video like this, so I hope it can help someone out there.

I still have never gotten a DUI to this day. If I know I will be driving, I don't even have one drink. It's not worth risking getting yourself into all this mess let alone potentially severely injuring or killing someone. I couldn't even imagine how terrible it would be to lose a loved one to a drunk driver, and I would never want to put that pain on someone else.
Are you sober now? I’m going sober at 16 and it’s crazy but I guess I did have a problem after denying it and I’m ready to stop doing dangerous things and move on to the next step of my life this is a wake up call for me
Good video. Not had a DUI (thankfully) but I have had some speeding infringements, so I'm no angel. Vic, Australia over 0.05 is a minimum licence suspension, mandatory interlock and fine (0.05-0.08 used to be a fine and demerits, but 2018 I think they increased the penalty); UK over 0.08 (0.05 in Scotland only, for some reason) is minimum 12 month disqualification and fine - but in the UK you keep your licence until you're disqualified by a court, in Australia the ban is roadside. No restricted licences in UK or Victoria, if you're DQ'd for DUI, you're off the road.
Jail is unlikely unless there's injury or death, you're heaps over limit or you're a serious repeat offender. I think in WA, Australia, it's possible to get a permanent licence disqualification for repeat DUI and other offences. Second offence for DUI in the UK within 10 years of the first is a minimum three year disqualification, so they don't shit around - it also counts as a criminal offence, unlike most traffic offences, and stays on you licence for 11 years (rather than 4 for most infringements).
I live got mine in cali too. And blew a .14 I wanted to ask you, what do do for work? And how did it effect your employment?
Minnesota:
$250- getting out of impound
$680- license reinstatement for work restricted license
$400-dui class
$3,500-lawyer fees
I haven’t even gotten arraigned yet
How are you doing now? And do you have to serve jail time too?
What lawyer did you use
@@TyTimeIsAwesome update: it got dropped to careless driving. I was not very far past the legal limit. I was sentenced to 2 days of community service, a fine, and administrative probation
@@roroo a very Italian man named David Valentini
@@haley166 do u think he could help on my case? I got 2 counts of underage dui as a gross misdemeanor I blew 0.16
Who was you lawyer?
Wow, you're scaring me (which is good)
About a week ago I got a DUI, I’m over stressing about it. I been contacting multiple lawyers and haven’t been able to find an affordable one, I’m in California too. Could you please provide me your lawyer’s contact info? Thank you in advance!
I am on my 3rd DUI. The state wants to permanently revoke my license. I got the 3rd DUI last week.
You don’t deserve it. Scumbag.
Shouldn’t you be in jail though
Did u get incarcerated for ur second Dui?
I thought DUI classes must be in person and that online class won't be counted in court to get your license back and you had to say "voluntary" or they'd deny you? Trying to do research because my BF got a DUI in April.
Would please able to give a break down of all cost involved ?
Thanks for making this video I have a friend that was just released from a 7 month stint in jail for a dui and that's even with all the other crap that you listed in this video but I say that to say that this video does help me be even more empathetic towards her situation because now I have at least 2 dui friends lol
In Florida:
DUI Counter-Attack $352
Lawyer $3500
MADD $60
Booking $35
I’m 4 days post arrest, so these are the fees I’ve incurred since then
Awesome video, I understand the feelings. I had gotten an article 15 years ago for roughly the same thing, and during the whole process I felt like they were going to take me outside and shoot me.
Thank you for making this video, would have been next level if you could have FOIA'd your arrest bodycam footage.
weirdly good video, even if I'm not the intended audience. I don't even really know what your channel is like yet, just following a link / recommendation from king crocoducks channel and this piqued my interest first.
Why were you moving around so much? Why couldn’t you hold a job?
Be me - drunk AF 2am unmarked black car tinted windows rolls up 1 inch on my ass forces me to roll through a stop sign turns on his lights and asks me why did you roll through the stop sign? Well officer, "you're in an unmarked car and you are 1 inch away from my ass?" Don't drink and drive people they can and will force you to commit a moving violation whenever they want to.
Don't drink and drive PERIOD. People who drink and drive are selfish as hell and to do so is to commit attempted murder. The fact that you would risk other people's lives because of your own selfishness and carelessness is despicable. I'm really disappointed to see this video... I lost a lot of respect for you, Claire. I hope you're a better person now.
@@alskarmode People don't know their own BAC levels Darwin didn't help us evolve that sense. You don't have accuse people of murder. Relax.
@@djl8710 If you drink and drive, you are putting people's lives at risk - attempted murder. I will not relax when innocent people die everyday because of people's selfishness and carelessness. I don't care if you only had one beer - you NEVER drink and drive. It's selfish and senseless. There's absolutely never an excuse.
@alskarmode this is the most stupidest comment ever. Almost 80 percent of the total population have 1 or two drinks and drive. They're just lucky enough not to get caught
If I'm calculating it correctly that's only 0.14 promille of alcohol.. Even need my crappy country that's below the limit. Am I calculating it correctly? That's not a DUI. That's having a glass of wine with a friend.
Edit: I'm using chat GPT and it's making errors all the time now it says it's 1.4 promille. That's actually being quite drunk :D
I was quite drunk unfortunately hahaha!
