I absolutely love Flambeau. John Light plays him awesomely. I love the friendship between Flambeau and Father Brown - FB clearly cares deeply for Flambeau, much to the annoyance of the others. Flambeau doesn’t have respect for many people, but does have for FB and even LF. He’s such a fascinating character, you want to hate him, but you can’t help but love him.
I love the dynamic of Sid, Lady Felicia & mrs McCarthy & their role in Father Brown’s world. Flambeau is the perfect antagonist I’m loving the slow progression to collaborative fiend. I’m not in love with the new characters yet. But it’s nice to see inspector Valentine back, I prefer his sensible policing attitude instead of a bumbling, accidentally successful one. But as long as mark Williams keeps being Father Brown, I will stay a fan.
I live in US & they still haven't released season 10 yet on britbox! I absolutely love Mrs McCarthy. I love all the original characters. Sad Inspector Mallory leaving too. He's my favorite Inspector. Sgt Goodfellow & him have a gr8 chemistry. I know actors have to move on. I guess I'll just keep watching the old ones if I want too see them.
@@violarichter9426 Sadly it has gone weird. The writers seem to have a political agenda in their writing which is at odds with the period setting. I used to be part of a group from whom the "extras" were drawn but nowadays they seem to be so mad on shoving ethnic minorities in that it grates. My mother grew up in a village just like this at the same time period this is set and she tells me categorically that the black people there were (from the US air base) did not mix with the locals and would not have been welcomed into the church if they tried. I love period drama for its escapism but I am also an historian and I would prefer they kept the language and the casting period correct - otherwise you might as well go the whole hog and give the Father an Iphone and change Sid's Rolls for a Tesla
I absolutely love the OG gang: Lady Felicia, Sid, Mrs McCarthy (even tho she can be an antagonistic character) and FLAMBEAU! Goodfellow and Valentine also. Mallory/Jack Deam was a great actor and a bit too ready to hang people. And obviously we all love Father Brown- no need to even say it!! Also Midsomer Murders...I'm a Christian, American, living in South Carolina and I've loved this show for years. God Bless 💜 Praying the cast finds Jesus. I love them!
agree. And what has happened to the historial advisers who used to work on the show. The cotswolds in 1953 was not multi racial and the catholic church was not openly pro lgbt. The story lines are pathetic as if the authors are trying to push their own aenda which has no place in period drama. Also when you get a run of shows where every week one ofg the main characters is about to be murdered you know they have run out of ideas. The early series were lovely escapism but now it just boils my blood because they aren't respecting the timeframe of history '
I'm fond of the Alec Guinness 1954 movie adaptation, The Detective. If you watch carefully, you can see Mark Williams has lifted a couple of gestures, originally used by Alec's Father Brown. Probably a tribute.
Obviously Tom chambers is the 2nd most fav... handsome n spicy 😍😅 1st most favourite being Mark Williams ofcourse... bcz of his grasp on his role and brilliant performance
Love this tv program. Lady Felicia, Syd, Mrs M. Of course Father Brown the crime solver..Miss Felicia, it's not the same without her. The sergeant a good character, always sides with Father B.
Father Brown is a great series. Besides Father Brown my favorites are Lady Felicia and Flambeau. All three are charismatic and a pleasure to watch. Inspector Sullivan is quickly making it on that list. But the show would be lacking without Sgt Goodfellow. I hope Lady Felicia and Mrs. McCarhty make several appearances.
There seems no reason for the new girl; spiteful, friendless, scruffy looking and doesn't advance the story in any way. I can only think that the writers have tried (and failed) to put in a black character for no good reason. It ruins the show and I wish they'd go back to the days when they had historical advisors who would have told them that this is inappropriate for the Cotswolds in 1953. You even get Sid spouting ant-rhodesian rhetoric which would never have happened. It's gone peculiar and been spoiled. Perhaps a change of writers could ull it back but for now I prefer the repeats. I don't blame the ctors who chose to walk away from it because it's just lost its way a bit
@@enochwasright.4306 You said it. Andif it's not that it's homosexuality. We all know herewere some strange inclinations in the catholic church but we go from the first couple of series where in historically correct storylines homosexuality was not only immoral but illegal to recently where the whole show ought to subtitled carryon camping. That s NOT how the 1950s was. That is nowhere near what the motivation of people were in that timeframe. I know when I am being lied to and manipulated and I do not play those games
The original cast is the best Fr Brown. Mrs M. Inspec Mallory Bunty and Lady Felicia. The new series is joyless, lacking the charm and humour of the original cast. It has become unwatchable.
I do wish they'd get the correct vehicles for the era - s10 ,set in 1953/4 has cars introduced from 1955/6, namely:- Wolsey 15/50 '56>, Morris Minor S III '56>, Triumph TR3 '55>
