There used to be a malting plant at the location of around the 2:00 mark, which is what those broken up lines were used for at the time. The silos were demolished in 2010.
I'm sitting here at home, first light on a winters morn and a warm fire crackling. It looks so cozy in the train, listening to the hum of the engine on a grey overcast day.😊☔🌧🔥
Yeah double line, warrenheip to Linton junction.the diverge at Linton jct was very rough in later years,I think even a jet derailed there heading to axt.
The current Wendouree station was originally 'Ballarat D' (Linton Junction). The original Wendouree was actually about 1km in the up direction from here. The line to Skipton paralleled the Ararat line from Ballarat D for around 2km's before veering away from the main line. This can be seen on the video 'Wendouree to Beaufort' from about 45 seconds to about the 2 minute mark. 👍😊
@@IMFKNLAGGINGGGGG there is a lot of study and work in becoming a train driver. The course is hard but well worth going through. It is a very responsible job. I applied in the 1980's and after tests and an interview, got the job of trainee driver. I then worked hard at learning and passing all my assessments. 👍😀
@driver667 how did you become a driver for vline? Do they offer a course? I'm thinking about becoming a train driver, and I'm a bit bewildered on where to start
@@IMFKNLAGGINGGGGG the first place to start is keeping an eye on the Websites of the rail companies you wish to work for. Vline, Metro etc. Every so often they will advertise positions available for trainee driver (and other jobs). Apply when you see it come up and you have started the process. 👍😀
I love these videos
I am very happy to hear you enjoy them 😀 👍

In front of a nice warm fire is a great place to be at the moment. The trains do have heating though. 😀😀👍

It's just a patch on what this section was years ago 👍😊
Too true

Great Video! Especially given I live in Ballarat! Any chance you have a video on the Maryborough line coming out soon?
I will be filming that soon. Not sure when it will get up but it will be done 👍😊
I can't believe how much rail that s not in use has not been lifted, being an old Ararat boy can remember when they were still in use
There is a lot still hinting at the industry that used to be along this section. 👍😊
I know there was an original Wendouree station. Any ideas where that was? On the site of the new station or elsewhere?
It was about 1km in the up direction from the current station on the down side of Forrest St. 👍😊
Old siding or double tracking? There is a lot of new rails next to the existing tracks.
Used to be double tracked i think
Yes, it was double track years ago 👍😊
Is the former junction to Skipton on down side of Wendouree and not i this video?

The buggers ripped up and discarded the second track to Linton j and then they tell us they need it again and it will cost 300 million
That's entirely possible 🤔👍😀
Hi, have you got an email or somewhere to contact?
