I believe I have found the answer to this problem.. Same sounds from my v10.. Turns out it was the spark plug ended up being loose somehow it backed out after tightening up the plugs on the passenger side problem went away instantly and runs very smoothly I removed my mufflers so I'm guessing it was a lot of vibration. These motors are also known to blow out spark plugs.. Always a good measure to change them every other oil change anyway.. Hope this helps someone..
Had a fleet F 550 with all the spark plugs smashed @ 140,000 miles, crankcase full of newer clean oil, still ran but knocked even smashing the new spark plugs instantly, had to have the motor replaced.
Its the timing chain tensioner my 2001 f350 had the same thing and i changed the plugs coils injecters all to find out that the tic was the timing chain its a v10 not a v8 they have different sound all together
You're all wrong, it's a plastic box inside of the valve cover that's came loose because of the adhesive that was used, it is a box that keeps the PVC valve from sucking oil , it is floping around on the lifter's. Replace the rocker cover .
@@patrickjohnson7801 well that wasn’t my problem, I even pulled the valve covers off to check valve train and still no clue. I think there was a gremlin stuck in the motor. Lol. After removing the valve covers and starting the engine no noise. My noise wasn’t constant either but now no noise at all
@patrick, One guy i seen took off like a rocker cover or something passenger side rear area. Little cover that has a tiny oil passage for the valve train. The passage had crap in it blocking the oil.
Sounds like a lifter tap. I own an 04 V10. Check your plugs just to make sure none have loosened. Change the oil and filter and motorkote it. Mine has almost 250k and it's quiet. Make sure you are only using the fl-820s oil filter.
@@MajorMustang1117 nope, it still periodically ticks. I removed valve cover, everything was good, cam and all look just fine. Wish I shad something to report.
On the driver cover there seems to be a part that detaches am assuming this was not the case. Mine also goes away immediately when i let off the gas. ua-cam.com/video/BZxpb2PDWxY/v-deo.html&pp=ygUsRm9yZCA2LjggdGFwcGluZyBub2lzZSBzdG9wcyBvbiBkZWNlbGVyYXRpb24%3D
I have this issue with mine, I actually lost oil pressure. Did oil change, didn’t fix pressure. Added sea foam and fixed pressure and tick. The tick came back a week later. So you dumped a whole bottle in the air intake and it fixed it??

My V10 sounds the same. I was thinking the same thing. I hope to tear into mine this weekend.
@@fatherof5329 just start the moter and put your hand on the area below the PVC valve and your be able to feal it

Bro you sure man cuz this is happening to my truck as we speak 2004 v10 Ford f2shitty
l have the sent problem for my v10 f350 oil pan knocking
Sounds like lifter or rod, I have it too need to get it replaced
You mean the V10's AREN'T supposed to make that noise?
They all do. All 5.4L do it also. Just ignore it.
Mine kind of sounds like that, but dissappears when warmed up.
Pressure sure that's lash adjuster going out. Did you find the issue?
I am having the same thing. did you find out whats the cause?
Ever figure out what it was mine is starting to do it and I just paid 9k for a rebuild

Is that filter the one with the anti drain. ?
@@Juannavarrolagos All Motorcraft filters have the anti drainback in them.
Any clue what caused your noise? Mine sounds the same way. I’m thinking valve cover baffle. I hope to find out this weekend.
Update?

Check your spark plugs

I have the same sound in my 2000 F350 V10. Did you ever figure it out?
Dirty Hersh nope. No clue.
Lose spark plug. Torque to 25 ft. Yes i know manual says 15 but the heat cycles loosen them up
Yari, did u figure out what was the problem since it has been old thread. Thanks in advance
I’m wondering the same thing
Did you ever figure out what was wrong??
what if you change to 15/40 delo
Miguel Garcia its already running on 10/40
I seen them go 100k more miles this way
I hear a ticking noise on my 2009 Ford V10 when it's cold. After running for a while, the sound disappears. I attribute it to an exhaust leak.
Manifold leak near cabin
The hole bottle
its rod rod/lifter knock from within the valve covers
I installed two reman v 10s both had rocker arm/valve issues. We installed a Ford reman it had knocking cam/timing chain🔥😠😡total garbage!!!!!
Mine did the same thing I put some seafom cleaner in air intake it stop
