I’m just now learning of her but from what you’ve told us, it seems Anita didn’t want to be coerced into sleeping with directors. She wanted to be sexy and provocative on her own terms for her own monetary gain, without the control from others. I’m not saying she was right or wrong to create the scandals, but I’m so glad she rejected those predatory men😖

Just what I was about to write. Woman is sensual thing. That doesnt mean that everyone can use her because of that. Femininity is not a tool for men to use. I liked how brave she used it and still managed to reject men. Respect! 💯

In her later years it seems like she was forgotten...I find that quite tragic. I saw the film about her life and when she died I was more than surprised to see so few participants on her funeral in Italy. In my opinion she should have had a grand funeral for the whole world to see. after the Italian funeral she was shipped to Sweden... Was that her will?

I will always associate her with Ursula Andress, even if the only things they had in common were that they were both Intelligent and blond, and super attractive. They both lived in Rome when the city was a very aspirational place to live, but this is not the case anymore. You could argue that Gina Lollobrigida did the same. Still, she was a native Italian and somehow controversial in her family and artistic choices ( mind that I m Gina's biggest fan, but I m not blind about her missteps, having read about her all of my -almost- 60 years of life, and reasoning about what her son told about her). Do you know who's still comparable to these excellent women? Heather Parisi, an American who found success in Italy, like Lola Falana, but you probably don't know her. She's a great self-reliant woman who still has the audience's love, but somehow she's not active anymore, even if she's younger than Madonna en much, much, much more talented than her. Just another Starsystem trik I will never understand.

She was captivating in "La Dolce Vita." Then, nothing that I remember. Seems she didn't want to put in the work, like Marilyn Monroe, to become a serious actress. She wanted it both ways. Flaunted her beauty and sex appeal yet didn't pursue the dramatic roles. Imo, she basked in the limelight as a "personality" rather than an actress. Loved the glitz and glamour but not the hard work. In today's world, she might have made big bucks with a clothing line, fragrance, etc. Like Kim Kardashian. Thanks, Karine, for your portrait of this interesting woman. ❤❤

Of course it was orchestrated. They weren't having wardrobe malfunctions back then, because clothes were of MUCH better quality than they are now. Just look at Fashion Nova, Rainbow, Citi Trends, and It's Fashion. You can only wear those clothes once. It's a total waste of money. You might as well invest in better quality brands of clothing.

I respectfully disagree with you about questioning/criticizing Ms. Eckberg‘s approach to Hollywood in order to become a star. There’s a difference between even posing for playboy or nude modeling or appearing in movies, with a scantily dressed appearance, or even showing your breasts or etc., and being willing to have sex with a producer under pressure in order to get a good job! Hollywood has been pushing beautiful women since it started in the sexiest ways and finally there was a film code that was developed just so that they had boundaries about how far they could go, but the executives pushed those boundaries, and it was an expectation, and the fans wanted to see it and, many actresses didn’t disagree with it. They were willing to look sexy for the fans, that’s what sold magazines. but that’s completely different from feeling like you have to have sex with a producer in order to get a part! Or constantly being leered at or joked about or being touched in a way that’s uncomfortable; it was just part of the environment. That stuff is disgusting and really almost criminal. If not criminal. that’s where “me too” came from.

She knew what it takes to become known, that is why it took her years to get her first movie roles after arriving to the US. She said that she has never seen what people see in her, but late in her life she did admit that she was indeed beautiful. The thing is, she never seemed to be ambitious, she was never looking after movie roles, she was given them. As Raquel Welch said, when you come to Hollywood and you got the LOOK you get things offered and sometimes it works against you because you don't get valued beyond your looks. And Ekberg was honest - she would tell to your face if she didn't like you.

Sorry, I don't think any of these stunts mentioned here or her affairs have anything to do with the sexual exploitation she spoke against.
You can take part in publicity stunts of any kind or have affairs with whoever .. That doesn't give anyone the right to force you to sleep with them in exchange for work..
    Consent is the key word.
I honestly don't see the so called hypocrisy.

She spoke about Americans being obsessed with breast while also exposing her breast to paparazzi for publicity… yeah that’s a little hypocritical. In no way was I saying men wanting to sleep with her was the hypocrisy. I was speaking on her playing on the fetlshes that she spoke against for gain.

@@KarineAlourde oh ok, then there is a point to be made.
Because you were speaking about some producer who wanted her to "earn" a role but she refused to sleep with him and how she was vocal about itt, then immediately after you talked about how Amita may have played into this culture and thus, was hypocritical.. I think I did bad math. Apologies.
