Meanwhile in Sweden schools can’t charge for anything you’d need to go to school. Lunch is free, school trips are free etc. Because school is mandatory to attend so it has to be free.
@hitchins dawkins lol having services provided free of charge from the government isn’t communism. Sweden is actually a highly individualistic country (it generally ranks really high in self actualisation, much higher than the US for example), we’re far from communist. Do you also think that public roads are communism? You pay nothing specific to walk on the pavement, it’s simply a service that the government uses tax money for.
@hitchins dawkins do you go into a library screaming "communist building!!!" Just because something is a public service, doesn't mean it's communist But your comment did make me laugh, thanks for that 😂

A lot of the time I brought them to my next class and I’d share them with the people next to me. I made plenty of friends that way, and it honestly was one of the more bearable parts of what was honestly a crappy time in my life

This was my mother as an a dinner lady in my school years ago, right down to the accent. She used to come through from the kitchens to find me (as a sixteen year old) in the canteen and give me a kiss on the cheek in front of my friends. I was mortified at the time but would give anything to have that in my life now.
My school’s principal ( I am a teacher) just retired. And he started each day by making sure that he walked through the cafeteria instead of heading straight to his office. He always said that he did that so he could take care of the lunch ladies because they took care of the kids 👏👏💛💛

I used to be a kitchen manager at a middle school, it was the best job in the world. So many sweet middle schoolers, broke my heart to have to leave (cancer, the daily hugs would've killed me with germs). There were a few boys who didn't eat because their parents wouldn't fill out the forms and we couldn't do it for them. After catching them watching us we sat down and talked to them. They didn't even get food at home, their little siblings didn't go to school so they stole food. The rest of the time I was there they had every leftover they wanted to take home. On Fridays we would empty their bags of school stuff they didn't need and packed them to the brim with foods and juice and milk for their family. At Thanksgiving and Christmas they got food and gifts from all of us. Still miss those boys, they'd be young adults now 💛

the nice one
The annoying and rude one
