Dotty makes me want to cry … that’s exactly how it should be. No child should ever be starving or sitting on a chair looking at others eating while pretending not to be hungry. 🥺😫. I know that feeling

my lunches are free at my high school ( different school system), but i used to be given those too but wasn't lactose intolerant ( it happened about 10 times. it was my fault though, I forgot to tell my parents my account was in the negatives). I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you are doing well
The thing is, even if your parents don’t have money to give you… I feel like better communication needs to happen between the school and parents or we need to go back to using cash. I had reduced lunch which meant my mom filled out paperwork with our tax info and income and the school board decided my parents didn’t make enough to pay the full $2. Ugh I’m so sorry. I’m a teacher and I’ve always kept actual tasty food in my room. Kids know it’s there for them anytime no questions asked. If they show up at lunch time they go help themselves and I’ll heat it up for them or whatever they need.
I remember when the lunch lady recognized me and what I ordered (when that food was served) and i was so grateful. She was the cutest little ol lunch lady :)
Love Dotty 💜💜💜 I had a dotty of my own back in school! She helped me a couple of times when I was short on cash. Thank god for these kind of lunch ladies!

I love this woman, she is so on point. I used to work in schools and her imitation of all roles within the organisation is so accurate and hilarious at the same time.
In my experience, lunch ladies always are the best, they are so sweet. I will never forget the day I didn’t have enough money for lunch, so when I was at my lunch table the lunch lady put a tray on the table and left I will never forget her, never ❤️
Seeing this made my heart happy, I was turned away so many times at lunch because there wasn’t enough money on my account when I was a kid :/ I wish the school system cared more about childrens health and not about the money
Once in 3rd grade I forgot my lunch money and I was standing near the kitchen. The lady there asked if I would like something and then she gave me a hot dog. Never forgot that lol.
I only ever had nice dinner lady’s I remember one time I was about to cry and the dinner lady saw me and pulled me aside and tried to cheer me up and they always gave me extra apple crumble 💕
This reminds me of my middle school years where all my friends would go to the restaurants down the street for lunch and idjust sit and watch cuz my mom could only aford to give us a decent dinner so I'd go hungry and watch all my friends eat expensive foods and just laugh along while they'd tell me I was overweight compared to them it was painful and so wished i could've had someone like this
I remember when I didn’t have money in my account once and the lunch lady said I couldn’t eat and then my favorite Hispanic lunch lady yelled at her to let me eat since I looked like a malnourished child it was very nice of her
I wish my school had lunch people like this. At my school they started charging $3 for a mini water, it didn't matter if you've gone all day without drinking something or not. Not only that but all the water fountains are still shut down due to covid, and this includes the water bottle refilling stations. The total charge was around $10 per meal. Idk what the heck was going on with that but I'm glad I'ma be doing online school next year
@@Sadpepper exactly. I don't have that kind of money, my family is currently dirt poor. Never was able to get the school lunches. I'd much rather just pick up a blizzard from DQ for lunch, it'd cost less too
It makes me mad when schools charge outrageous prices for food because I know they can afford to buy it, especially when they have all this fancy equipment for expensive sports teams. Then they complain that the school barley has enough money. The whole thing doesn't make sense to me. I know that some schools are different but this is how it goes down most of the time. 😭🤦♀️
@@Sadpepper it makes me mad too. The school I was at last year (when I wrote that comment) is one of two highschools in the country, and it's been around since the 1930s. For the longest time it was the only highschool, so at the times when it had the lowest number of students (when a ton of students were out sick for example), there were still over 3,000 kids in the building. That means that on average attendance days they could make up to a bit less than $9,000 per day JUST FROM WATERS. I know they don't get to keep it all, so say they have to pay $2 out of each water bottle sale to where they're sourcing it from, they're still making a bit over $3,000 per day just from water bottle sales. Absolutely infuriating and outrageous, especially because the majority of my county is in moderate to severe poverty.
Yeah, it kinda makes me wonder what the schools do with all that money.. I mean I have some sense but I don't know why they would do that to someone. Especially because you couldn't use you're water fountains due to covid. I'm glad you don't have to pay $10 per meal anymore since you're doing online school though.
I love the lunch ladies at my school very much for many reasons. There are 2 lunch ladies who have a little hut outside so that we don't have to go to the cafeteria if we are planning on eating outside anyways. Its always the same 2 and they are amazing. I am autistic and so I have sensory issues with wooden spoons. Knowing that, the lunch ladies always keep a metal spoon outside for me so that I don't have to go all the way to the cafeteria to grab one after buying my soup. I have a 5 minute early card that I use to avoid crowded halls, meaning that I am one of the first people outside at lunch. So when they make the teachers lunches they make sure to put aside an extra cup of soup for me when I come out early to get soup. These things just go to show how much these women truly do care about us and our needs and wants. It may be a simple little thing to them but it is so nice to know that they really do care about me being happy
At my school kids who get turned away, I used to walk up with my card and buy it for them from my account. I finished 6th form last week, so I hope someone else takes my place. I never bought food from school, my parents put alot if money on my card from when I was in year 7 as I used to buy their shortbread, so I'd I saw a kiddo with a lunch tray getting turned away, I'd leave my packed lunch and pay for it for them. Even if the kid just wants some water, it's on me. :3
when I was in school (graduated 11 years ago now haha) I would walk about 2 miles there every day and look in the road and sidewalks for any change trying to get enough for lunch. I always tried so hard to get enough for a salad because I was overweight and hated it but they were more expensive so I'd end up with the unhealthy cheaper food or nothing. you could go through the line and be holding your food but if there wasn't enough money they'd take it back and just watch you walk away hungry and embarrassed. if only I had cafeteria workers like this.
My old primary school had a dinner lady who remembered what every kid liked and she always saved me a piece of apple crumble and if it was Christmas dinner a trifle she also made sure I didn’t have Brussel sprouts she made my sister a trifle with out custard every single year she passed while I was in my last year their I miss her...
Oh lord, this reminded me of a time where my friend had to go to the office to get their account balance topped up. Issue was the school's admin system is so trash that it takes a day or so for anything to get through, and that's if you're on the system and lucky. Now, if you go the office and verbally ask them to call your parents to top up your account they'll either forget until way later, call your parents on the spot or not at all. This meant that my friend sat there for the entirety of lunch with no food except what me and my friends could pitch in (dumb one school meal a day per account rule)
I've been denied for food before too. But the sweet dinner lady paid for me. I loved that woman, she was an icon. She started calling me pasta girl lol
This is gonna make me cry because at one point my account hadn't been paid because we were struggling and my mom hadn't been able to sort it out. The lunch ladies let me get lunch anyway until my mom was able to pay it off.
I saw a video on twitter the other day about a dinner lady having to tell kids they can't have any lunch because they don't have any money on their account due to the cost of living crisis, and it broke her heart and mine too. Every kid should get a lunch, it might be the only meal they get that day
We all need cafeteria ladies like this. I remember once I didn’t have food at high school. I hadn’t had breakfast either and didn’t have any money on my account. I only had cash but they stopped accepting cash due to COVID. I went to see if I could get some food. Went to the till but they never accepted the cash. I told her I didn’t have any money on my account and she let me have my food (she was my primary school lunch lady and also a neighbour) I’ve never forgotten her kindness
The first time my fiance brought me to meet his mom I saw her and remembered her as the lunch lady in my cafeteria in high school that let me get lunch one day even though I didn't have enough money. She still makes sure I eat whenever ai go over lol. I love her.
When I was in primary school one of my friends mums was a lunch lady and she knew how picky of an eater I was and also that the headteacher would stand by the bin and not let us go unless we had eaten what she qualified as enough (even if we didn't like it she'd make us eat it) so she would always just give me a little bit of the foods I didn't like so it would look like I ate enough. I'm always so grateful to her for that.
I will never forget the time a lunch lady i was intimidated by had me come up to her during lunch when most people were sitting to take off 30$ of overdue charges on lunch fees because "she saw me sitting there with the saddest face she'd ever seen on a kids face." I was so relieved (and incredibly depressed because I had no friends and was frequently bullied- on top of a moderately rough and traumatic upbringing) I mumbled thank you and turned away, she didn't hear my thank you and told me to come back and say it so I looked her in the eyes and raised my voice to say Thank You.
I remember once when I was waiting in line and every Friday we have like lots of food then normal and I wanted to get rice & H Chicken, ice tea, ice block and spring rolls and I had just enough money and this kid took all of it and the lunch ladies pay for it all and gave me 20 dollars god bless them
i had a lunch lady just like this. she was a short old asian lady and she would always give me free food when i couldnt afford it. im really grateful because i never had to go hungry for most of the while she was working there. my family are immigrants and we cant afford to pay for lunch everyday so i decided i dont need lunch wveyday but she was so kind and always gave me food
I once had a lunch lady who gave me a free croissant because I realised I didn’t have enough money. These acts of kindness are really recognised and honestly it could really help a kid
All my love to the lunch ladies who always slipped me a bag lunch bc my mom acted like the school was demanding a kidney just so that I could have food to eat. I still love pb and honey sandwiches bc of them ❤
these sort of dinner ladies never sorted it out later. lol

I told her I didn’t have any money on my account and she let me have my food (she was my primary school lunch lady and also a neighbour) I’ve never forgotten her kindness
i just love this woman ❤
I absolutely love this kinda of lunch lady she usually so sweet I just love it😃😃
Dinner ladies like this are just angels. Also people like this don't sort it out another day.
The first time my fiance brought me to meet his mom I saw her and remembered her as the lunch lady in my cafeteria in high school that let me get lunch one day even though I didn't have enough money. She still makes sure I eat whenever ai go over lol. I love her.
I've had my lunch taken from me loads of time and nothing like this ever happens lol
always go home starving and my mum calling the school real angry
I loveeeeeee lunch ladies like this, their always so kind
Lol I love dotty she’s the best 😂 haha
I remember once when I was waiting in line and every Friday we have like lots of food then normal and I wanted to get rice & H Chicken, ice tea, ice block and spring rolls and I had just enough money and this kid took all of it and the lunch ladies pay for it all and gave me 20 dollars god bless them
Everyone needs a Dotty in their life.
i had a lunch lady just like this. she was a short old asian lady and she would always give me free food when i couldnt afford it. im really grateful because i never had to go hungry for most of the while she was working there. my family are immigrants and we cant afford to pay for lunch everyday so i decided i dont need lunch wveyday but she was so kind and always gave me food
re watch this a million time. I'm so english, i'm not self lady, but... bring me a giant smile on my face, and melted my heart for a... idkreason
Wish I had her in high school ❤️ I skipped so many lunches
The way thatcher literally outlawed that 🥴
“Especially not on pizza day,are you mad?”
I think he is 😭
I wish the dinner ladies at my school were like this.
I love this, they always did this for me ❤
Not all hero’s wear capes
I wish we had a lunch lady like you when I was at school. ❤
I still love pb and honey sandwiches bc of them ❤
Love this character more than an other character ever!!
Wow I wish I had dinner ladies like this 😭
'Esspiacly not when its pizza day are u mad' got me
The accent is like the dinner ladys at my school- like when she says:
“Er,Kerry” and “Wait a second love”
oddly comforting
These lunch ones are my favourite 😭😭❤️❤️
The lunch ladies were always a vibe.
I swear literally in every primary school there is a lunch lady named kerry😂
I had a lunch lady do that for me in high school and i will never forget it
