Thanks Greg I got so tired of crappy transcriptions of Bruce's bass lines, that I bought a copy of the "official" "The Best of Jack Bruce bass tab edition" that also has standard notation. Jack, as the foundation of Cream, being such a power rock trio, is often overlooked for the serious musician he was... we're talking a cellist with the Edinburg conservatory, beautiful pianist, etc. I've spent hours watching him, always in thrall with how well he sang while playing, and keeping time with a madman like Ginger Baker., and letting Clapton fly... This is a great addition to my Jack files - and is inspiring my playing right now. Thanks again mate - you're a legend
Thanks Mark, I wasn’t aware of that collection of transcriptions. I might call my collection ‘Unofficial’ then! I totally agree about Jack’s musical talent. It appears that lots of the pop musicians from that era had serious talent and experience on different instruments. Glad you liked the lesson. Happy to help.
Thanks for this one. Jack Bruce's playing with Cream first woke me up to bass way back then and I've enjoyed all his work ever since, especially his 21st century albums. Much missed.
I always click like on your videos before I watch them because I know that I will always enjoy them and I will learn something whether I will have the ability to apply what I've learnt even with practise. is it different but that's my problem 😁 I had never of 8 bar blues until recently And I have watched yours in other videos on 8 Ball Blues. and yes indeed for somebody with limited ability..... that's me..m they are complex to learn and remember so let's get.bluesing And I'll wait with anticipation a video you will put up soon over 27th and 3/4 bar Blues as I know it's going to happen
Great Greg. Jack Bruce was a brilliant bass player. How he played his bass lines and sang lead was amazing. More of 60s 70s bass players please. Bill Wyman?
This is one of my favourite bass lines. I'm currently listening to a lot of Yardbirds stuff, which is very interesting. Might be something you could look into... Great lesson as always. 🙏
Great suggestion of covering some Yardbirds. Up to now I’ve been focusing on American Blues, especially with my ‘Walk The Blues’ course but being British, I grew up with British Blues playing in the car from as early as I can remember. I find the way that British Blues started along with the influence of the African American artists really interesting.
Hey Greg thanks for this. I was a budding thumper in high school when this came out so I’ve had it in my head for decades now I’ll finally take it up and learn it. Love JB’s playing. Could you give us a lesson on “Badge”? Thanks again.
There is some great stuff there. One of my favourites tunes is ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ - yet another great example of a simple but very effective bass line.
@@GregsBassShed My favourite version of I’d Rather Go Blind is the Chicken Shack/ Christine Perfect version which I saw played live back in the late sixties. Christine Perfect as I’m sure you all know went on to marry a bassist named John McVie. Anybody know what happened to them ha ha ha!
Thanks Greg

Glad you like the bass line choice. I can certainly do a lesson on Badge - great tune!
I've also been learning a couple of Etta James songs. 🎶🎶
