    Does he say, "Destroyer of the nonce-sphere"?

    • @jeffjohn583
      @jeffjohn583 5 років тому +1

      The noosphere (/ˈnoʊ.əsfɪər/; sometimes noösphere) is the sphere of human thought. The word derives from the Greek νοῦς (nous "mind") and σφαῖρα (sphaira "sphere"), in lexical analogy to "atmosphere" and "biosphere". It was introduced by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin in 1922 in his Cosmogenesis.

    Not even the Vatican teaches that genesis is exact fact. It is writing that is the same style as parables. Story with a truth. Natural law teaches most of the particulars. The rest do require faith, however by comparing the teachings of the bible to natural law you find that the bible's morals would be a good choice for society even if we chucked God out of the picture.

    Natural Moral law is anything that any person can recognize as beneficial to society through logic. And no logically bears mauling children is a bad thing.
    I am not picking and choosing. If you believe in God great you will follow the morals of the bible. If not you should anyway because they benefit society. And I didn't say there was no revelation. The nature of God is a mystery to man, and so through the bible he because known, if not understandable.

    Banning abortion would be a good thing. The world has gone from overpopulating to killing itself. America is only growing because of immigration. Europe is now SHRINKING. The economy of tomorrow will be dominated by an almost nonexistent workforce. The whole premise of social security is that there are more workers than retirees, but what happens when that is not the case. Also I question the use of the word psychopath. Finding life before birth is not hard to do, which is why abortion is murder

    I doubt that you are "very scientific" (whatever that is) if you don't understand statistics and averages. What you personally are doesn't fall into account here. Only because you are religious and like science doesn't mean that you can claim that this statistic is false. It has been measured over a scientific reasonable amount of people.

    A very good point, although I'd argue that it is not for the sake of homosexuality that people are being attacked, beaten, imprisoned and murdered (as I said in the comment to which you appear to be replying, "in the name of homosexuality", in contrast to what has been done in the name of religion).
    Anyway, people aren't being killed due to homosexuality any more than people were lynched due to blackness: it's not the victim who is at fault. People are being killed because of /ignorance/.

    I used to be but I am very disappointed with the Catholic Church. Look at the fancy buildings and the number of servants aiding all these Cardinals. Why is there a grown man holding a microphone for the pope? The Catholic Church should have listened to Martin Luther and reform, to be closer with the people. I pray for another reformation, until the true Catholics re-emerged victorious in a cleansed and purified religion. There is too much corruption and exploitation in the name of God.

  • @Kronical69420

    That's just it though. They choose to believe in a system that punishes people that don't deserve it. Then they ask me to respect this system.
    I will respect their beliefs when they stop or change a system based off the idea that they are right and everyone else will burn.
    Remember, this is the same system that condoned a 9 year old girl because she had a life saving abortion after being raped by her father. How do you respect that? Please tell me because I'm having a hard time swallowing that.

  • @Kronical69420
    @Kronical69420 11 років тому

    Thats just it though. Believing that the rest of us is going to hell because we dont agree with you cant get much more disrespectful. Sure it doesnt effect me, so I dont really care. But this belief system is based on disrespecting anyone that doesnt agree with you. Asking us to respect a religion that believes the rest of us deserves to burn does not deserve respect. The core of your belief system is based on disrespecting others that dont share that belief. How do you not see this?

  • @Kronical69420
    @Kronical69420 11 років тому

    Do you realize that because we dont follow this belief system, we are supposedly going to burn in hell for all eternity in that systems eyes. How is that in anyway respecting someone elses belief system? Catholics have already judged us simply for questioning or choosing to believe something else. I would respect this belief system, but why should I when they dont respect anyone elses?

  • @HR-dp2qs
    @HR-dp2qs 11 років тому

    Your religion is offensive in far more ways than this, the idea that we should devote our lives to living in a certain way because we shall be punished if not by someone that overlooks people suffering unimaginably all over the world is incredibly ignorant. Your religion, and all religions offend me. Maybe all the non-religious people should start a lawsuit against the ignorance of all religious people.

  • @ddland45
    @ddland45 11 років тому

    Not that I care, but hopefully this Pope will have firmer grip on the realities of the world he's inherited. The Catholic Church must change or be left in the dust bin of history. It must address and eliminate its financial and criminal problems before it can sit in judgement of others. It must accept the reality of gays who are also Catholic and build a bridge of respect and communication to the growing Muslim World.
    Good luck, dude...

  • @JoeNumberwang
    @JoeNumberwang 11 років тому

    Well I don't believe that to be the case (how can anyone know what time limit constricts life or even that there is a time limit?) but it is irrelevant in this discussion as I'm not defending evolution I'm simply pointing out that the position that there is a God is a illogical one to take due to a complete lack of evidence for a God existing. And simply because one cannot at this time state how life became to exist it does not follow that it must be a God (argument from ignorance).

  • @gleipnirrr
    @gleipnirrr 11 років тому

    Considering these things, anyone with the slightest education and understanding of the matter will sadly laugh at you when you tell them it is impossible and simply a matter of belief, something which i myself am doing right now, as someone who would assert these things can only be intentionally disengenuous, or willingly ignorant. I can only hope that at some point you give knowledge a chance and avoid dismissing reality because it does not agree with your imaginary beliefs.

  • @gleipnirrr
    @gleipnirrr 11 років тому

    a trap i fell in by mistake: evolution does not deal with abiogenesis, which is the emergence of life from inanimate matter. It deals with the complexity of life, and how it came about to be, and makes no statements on how life started. As for it being impossible, i'll just have to state again that you are ignorant on the matter, as there is a plethora of evidence that evolution is correct, such as observable data and ability to reproduce the event in a lab on a smaller scale

  • @JoeNumberwang
    @JoeNumberwang 11 років тому

    Where are you getting the odds for that? (I'm not disputing it, I'm just curious)
    So there is a chance? As long as there is a chance of something then it is better answer (also has evidence pointing towards it) than going with God did it which has zero evidence.
    The watch maker argument is easily refuted - Hume points out we don't have another universe to compare ours with so it is illogical to state the universe looks designed.

  • @JoeNumberwang
    @JoeNumberwang 11 років тому

    I didn't put Dawkins on any mighty pedestal, I simply used his example that despite his public perception isn't a 100% atheist. In fact, I wouldn't trust anyone who says there 100% is or isn't a God.
    I'm sorry but atheists do not need to show how the Big Bang happened, a scientific atheist would say "As it stands there is no good evidence to show a God exists" nothing more. The burden of proof is on a believer to show their is a God lest you forget the Tooth Fair example.

  • @mackjeez
    @mackjeez 11 років тому

    Really? So Richard Dawkins is the almighty master of opinion. In order for Atheists to make a solid arguments against a God they would first need to prove that the Big Bang happened through chance alone which in my opinion is more unsound then any religion out there. I used to idolize men like Mr. Dawkins but through unbiased research I find that everything is a lot more complex than what he or others claim them to be.

  • @francisgeorge7639
    @francisgeorge7639 11 років тому

    " faith: a belief in something, even through a lack of or contradictory evidence"
    That's an atheist definition of faith. The Catholic definition involves direct knowledge of a god.
    "Atheism is defined as the lack of belief" , that's a novel definition of atheism. Traditionally it was "To deny the gods/God", as in to believe that there is no god. Your definition is effectively a type of agnostic. The new OED definition is "To deny/disbelieve in the gods/God" which is clearly a corruption.

  • @Vire70
    @Vire70 11 років тому

    Intolerant, arrogant individuals? Are you really so blind to the irony of that statement, given that on this page the only one badmouthing people in a very arrogant fashion, is you yourself? And since when are all atheists hipsters? Whilst I'm sure there's plenty of atheist hipsters around, I don't know how you came to the conclusion that that was a defining characteristic. Pure nonsense.
    And no, it's not a set of beliefs. If you disagree, try naming said beliefs. I'm sure that'll be amusing.

  • @klaxoncow
    @klaxoncow 11 років тому

    As to your point that natural law coincides with Biblical morals...
    First, I'd challenge that's untrue, unless you think it's right that kids should be mauled to death by bears for mocking someone's baldness.
    Again, if you're going to pick and choose, you've got to have a more honest and rigorous criterion than "I don't like the sound of that bit".
    But, even if true, doesn't that only tell us that there's no great revelation in the Bible, if it's all just natural and obvious stuff anyway?

  • @klaxoncow
    @klaxoncow 11 років тому

    The problem with this picking and choosing of what to take literally and what to consider merely symbolic - which, apparently, we do simply on the basis of what we find plausible - is that the Biblical story is, overall, a narrative and later bits do depend on the veracity of earlier bits.
    Jesus died to atone for humanity's sins.
    That's central to Christianity. You can't take that bit out.
    So, "original sin" and the fall of humanity. Symbolic parable or literally true?
    Think very carefully.

  • @klaxoncow
    @klaxoncow 11 років тому

    If Eve did not eat the fruit of the Tree - if she did not commit "the original sin" - and if it is not true that "the sins of the father are visited upon the son" - that is, if God's law is not that sin is blindly inherited - then what did Jesus die for exactly?
    The big problem with "Genesis didn't literally happen" is that the Crucifixion, which is deemed historical fact and is central to Christian faith, was to atone for something that never actually happened and is only symbolic?!?

    This video in no way criticised or belittles religion, so I don't really know where this angst of yours came from. It's just like as if I saw a line of raindrops across a garage door, thought they looked like an audience, and decided to make a video out of it. It's just seeing with your imagination and coming up with a amusing take on something normally serious.

  • @BISlover544
    @BISlover544 11 років тому

    Religion is based on faith: a belief in something, even through a lack of or contradictory evidence. Atheism is defined as the lack of belief- irreconcilable with the prior definition. The pushy and intolerant people you refer too are irreligious, a subset of atheism that is not necessarily a majority and certainly not representative of the whole.
