I think the wonderful thing about fashion is that it’s a form of self expression. Some women love to follow trends and be on the forefront and others prefer to stick to their own style. There’s nothing wrong with either choice. Thank you for your comment!
I think it depends on age. Older people are doing this, and younger people also are. But those between 25-40 ish are still looking at trends. In general anyway, but definitely not everybody.
Definitely agree with walkingonsunshine comment, there is no such thing as out of style, classics are called that for a reason. Wear what's right for your body type, style is your creation, fashion is what you are expected to buy into every season. Classics always win, buy less, buy good quality pieces and know how to combine them.
Hi Wendi, I totally agree and nowhere in my video did I tell women to throw anything away. I used the word "ditch" lightly. I said I would definitely keep wearing my tapered trousers and my sock booties because I love them too much, plus I can't afford to replace them all. And I encouraged women to keep wearing the items they love it ifs imbedded in their personal style. I hope that was clear in the video. These videos are all meant to be fun, entertaining, and educational. Thanks so much for watching and for your thoughtful comment. I'm wearing sock booties as we speak, LOL!
I remember not so long ago when influencers were promoting the chunky loafers, now they're out the door. Fashion trends come and go so fast you'd have to be a millionaire to keep up. If there's an item of clothing in my closet that I love, I'm keeping it and wearing it, and I don't need anyone's approval. Being self-confident never goes out of style.
Hi Jennifer, Thank you for your comment. Fashion should be lighthearted and not taken seriously. I'm simply reporting what the trend reports are showing. I mentioned several times in the video not to throw anything out and to continue enjoying these pieces regardless of what trends are. I am still going to wear my sock booties and tapered trousers even though they are not trending - they are part of my personal style. Do what is authentic and natural to you. Some women ignore trends and some follow all of them. There's nothing wrong with either choice. Thanks so much for watching.
@@jenniferlong7439 not at all. I respect everyone’s opinions so thank you again and I appreciate it. Believe me there have been some rude people and they just get blocked. Life is too short to dwell on negativity. Thank you again. Happy you’re here. 😘
@@karylmorgan7320 always always wear what you love and enjoy. These videos are to keep you in the know. Take from them what you will and always with a grain of salt :)
I believe in wearing what you like and makes you feel good. Trends change every year to make us buy new clothes. Classic style lasts forever. I like to add a couple of trendy pieces but mainly stay with classic.
Hi Lori, that's exactly what I like to do. At the end of the day, it needs to resonate with your personal style. I like to inject a few trendy items here and there to keep my wardrobe fresh and current but I won't wear something just because its trendy, I have to love it as well. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment!
Always buy timeless pieces and you will have it forever. I don’t follow w trend but styling is everything for me, how I put my clothing together. Even if I wear something that is 15 years old, people still asking me where I get it from.
Right. I’m tall and totally skipped the cropped/ankle pants thing because to me they just look too short. I felt like I was a gangly kid wearing “high waters” again. No thanks!
I've been fashion obsessed since I was a 5 year old girl buying magazines out of my pocket money and designing clothes all day. What I have realised is that while trends still exist, fashion has moved to a point where personal style is more prominent than ever. Street style, minimal office wear, preppy, dark they all co-exist at the same time while borrowing from each other. Most brands will keep releasing something for each preference while the styles are going to evolve all together as well. Fashion used to be a little more uniform, for example I remember everyone carrying huge bags and small ones being uncool/outdated,no one wanted them. But now everyone carries what they want and there are modern designs for everyone.
Loafers never go out of style! The chunky ones aren’t classics but I’m in the mindset that if you like something well then wear it! I’m so sick and tired of in and out and the next month it’s something else who can keep up? At 48 I’ve decided to not follow trends but rather what looks and feels good to me.
I think that's wonderful, wear what you love and if that includes or excludes trends, so be it. Important thing is you have a closet of items you'll wear forever and not tire of. I'm trying to get myself to that kind of wardrobe but I do love trends and seeing whats in fashion. Doesn't mean I'll follow a trend just because its popular. I'll add it if it works with my personal style and I enjoy it because it freshens up and gives new life to what I already own. Thanks for your feedback!
I am a 1st time viewer. I love your style, your smile, your hair. You are a beautiful woman. I am 72 years old and I hope I never stop caring about my appearance, and that includes staying on top of fashion trends. After a recent shopping trip to NYC with my granddaughters I noticed all the trends you talked about and the stripe sweater is everywhere. It was popular in the 60’s and & 70’s and I’m happy to see it back. I still have 2 great striped sweaters from that time ( I take exquisite care of my clothing). My granddaughters often raid my closet. My wardrobe consists of some very classic styles but I add updated pieces often so your video is wonderful. I’m not a wealthy woman. I buy new, secondhand and sew for myself and others. Staying updated is fun at any age.Thank you for sharing your insights and fashion knowledge.
Hi Katherine, Thank you for your lovely comment. You made my day! I think it is wonderful that you are still love fashion as 72. I strive to always remain fashionable. It's also great that you buy second hand and take very good care of what you've had for years. Enjoy them as long as you can. Trends are so cyclical so it's smart to hold on to your favorite pieces. Your granddaughters are very lucky to have such a hip and stylish grandmother. You're an inspiration! Thank you for sharing :)
I found this video really helpful 😊 I’m 54, and while I definitely don’t “buy into” every trend, it’s so much fun to keep my wardrobe “fresh”, it’s fun to try new styles, and with my daughters help (she’s a personal stylist), I’ve really learned what flatters my body, and how to rock an outfit (plus, wearing cute clothes is a great motivator for staying fit)!
Hi Turena, I love everything you said 100%. I'm so glad you have your own sense of style and always want to look fresh and modern but don't buy into trends just because they are popular. Choose what works for you, with the help of your daughter, I'm sure you look amazing all the time! Cheers! Thank you for your lovely comment
I no longer agree with the idea of fashion trends because it promotes fast fashion which is so bad for the environment, as well as our pockets. (Not just that I'm getting old!) But I did like seeing how you paired clothes and shoes. I can't follow all your advice, as I'm only five feet tall, but I can try some of your ideas. Btw, I recently gave a gorgeous long denim skirt to the charity shop, after it had sat at the bottom of my chest of drawers for over 20 years! I used to wear it lots, but it seemed like too much of a statement piece once it was no longer in fashion (wasteful!) and now it sadly doesn't fit me. I hope that it gives someone else a lot of joy!
Thank you for your comment Mia. I agree we all have to be mindful of what we put in our closets and ultimately these "trend" pieces resonate with our personal style and they can be pieces that will last longer than a season or two. Yes I encourage women to save their clothing, and not be so quick to donate or sell because fashion is very cyclical. I'm sorry your skirt didn't fit anymore, sounds like it was an amazing piece. Thank you for your thoughtful comment.
Wonderful! Keep with that then, or choose a plain front with longer trousers. Paired with heels and have the trousers just barely skim the floor ( not touching) and it will give you the illusion of looking taller. Thank you for your comment!
Denim Maxi skirts... Until everyone has one and notices that they are mostly.. Heavy and unflattering. And how is a denim skirt (thick/heavy/casual) a replacement for a satin skirt (elegant/sophisticated, light weighed)? Doesn't make much sense to me.
I encouraged women to keep wearing what they love. I said satin skirts are classic french women style and suggested denim maxis as a fresh modern trend. Keep wearing what you love and what looks good on you. Style is very personal and subjective. My intention for this video was to keep it educational and light hearted. I included links because some women like to shop and others just watch for entertainment purposes. I hope my message was clearly communicated in the video. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment.
@@dr.andriamiller3964 watch my new video on Wednesday about styling a maxi denim skirt. Maybe it will change your mind, if not, it’s ok. It’s not for everyone 🤷♀️thank you for watching
I like your “take” of what’s on-trend. Of course ultimately, we have to decide personally whether a look is best for us. I never wore the cold-shoulder look. First, I’m too old and second I thought it was one of the silliest garments ever produced. I’ve also never worn skinny pants. And yes, I do have a nice butt and slim thighs. But my personal look has always been Katherine Hepburn trousers and silk shirts. It’s good to see the trouser return!
I adored Katherine Hepburn's style. She broke the mold with her trousers back in the day when women never did that. Unfortunately I noticed the cold shoulder coming back on the runways for this coming fall but hopefully they don't become a trend again, I'll be avoiding it for sure. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for taking the time to watch.
I was into the coloured skinny jean trend a few years back when I was in jr high school, but always preferred wider ones, mostly because tighter pants always bunch up at my knees weirdly, if I can even find ones that fit. I love seeing some of the more classic styles return, and things that fit my body and style preference start to come in. But I'm also in my 20s, so I'm just starting to figure out what my style is, especially after the last few years of not going out much other than to a few university classes.
Just because clothes go out of fashion if you feel great in them you carry on wearing them 😊 I don't really listen to the trends and all my friends have said that they love my style. You look fab in all the clothes 😍 Saying that, I did find this useful as it gives me ideas 💡 of how to wear clothes in a different way 🥰 Thanx for the tips ❤️
I’m so glad it was helpful in that way. You don’t have to follow trends at all but I always like to know what’s on the forefront. Maybe I’ll buy into it or maybe I’ll just shop my closet or just update my outfit to reflect a current trend. I love fashion because it makes us all unique that much more. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment. Hope to see you again.
Personally I’m trying to avoid trends not to be outdated 1-2 years later. Striped sweater, denim skirt, new balance shoes etc. will go out and always remind us of 2023. Enjoyed the video though🤍
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I have to say I think striped sweaters and stripes in general are definitely considered a classic style, they just happen to be having a hot moment right now. I think they are true to parisian/french woman style so they are always a classic. The others... yes they most likely will look dated in a couple of years, but you can always wear the new balance to the gym and shorten the denim skirt if you get tired of the maxi length :) Thanks for watching!
😮I have tons of the tapered/pleated trousers that I wore with chunky loafers and ❤. I really dipped into the wide leg trend as well, since they are really classic and will always work. I think I’m still going to wear the tapered trousers though…I think they might have a permanent place in my wardrobe. They just work for my body type.
same here and i also still see ankle tapered pants literally everywhere. stores are still selling them like hotcakes, from old navy to lands end new collections to higher end. i think we need to watch out and not blindly dump our wardrobes just because the influencers, who are professionally on the forefront re what is fashionable, say so. I love most of Marica Nicole's vision and recommendations typically. She is a professional trend watcher and influencer. It's her job to tell us what's on the horizon BUT that said, the stores still have many items that fashion influencers deem 'out of fashion' so..let's take inspiration but not jump in blindly. if we did, the planet would be worse off also, always buying new.. just my thoughts.
Hi Carmen, Thank you so much for your comment! I have to agree on the tapered trousers. You'll have to pry them out of my hands and burn them to make me stop wearing them, LOL. they are far too flattering for me to give them up. It's fun to report the trends but we don't have to follow them and this one I definitely disagree with. I love tapered trousers and chunky loafers on other women but it never quite worked for my personal style. I am still trying to enjoy them before the trend disappears. Still haven't got my cost per wear out of them, ha ha! Thanks again!
Hi Anne, Thank you so much for your comment. Yes I mentioned in my video that I love my tapered trousers and won't be giving up on them any time soon, same with the sock booties. My video is just informative and I never tell women to throw out their clothes and I mentioned that in my intro and several times throughout the video that I encourage ladies to keep the clothes and just store them or wear them less until the trend comes back or keep wearing them if it is a key component of your personal style. I hope that message was clear in the video because I'd never want anyone to throw out their clothes just because a you tuber told them. Thank you so much for your comment and I'm glad to know you are making your own decisions and judgements about your own wardrobe. After all, you know best about your own style more than any "influencer" can. Thank you so very much!!!
@@MariaNicoleStyle sorry i must have missed the part where you mentioned that! I put the video on mute at some point because my phone buzzed maybe that's why. i love your videos and your recommendations very much!
Agree with Turena! Over age 60, wear a uniform to work and just don’t have the time to trend watch/research what classic styles are rotating back in. So glad I found your site. Also, I like your tonality of presentation. Thank you.
Hi Maria, Nice video. I don't follow trends. I choose my pieces carefully so I can wear them on repeat. Besides, I don't like to dress like the masses. But I do like flats and loafers but not the chunkier ones. Have a wonderful day. ❤️
Hi Najat, I love trends but only to choose to wear what follows with my personal style but I still make mistakes. For example the chunky loafers... the trend grew on me until I decided to try it but realized it just doesn't work for me as much as I tried to love them. I think it's wonderful that you've developed a personal style and stick to it because you know if works for you. Thank you for watching and I hope you have a wonderful day too!
aww I'm sorry. Other hot shoe trends are retro sneakers like adidas, moto style boots, and mary janes so maybe something else can work better for you. Or stick to your chunky sole shoes, they are still in for now. Thanks for watching!
Never giving up sock boots. Always good to buck the trend after all the fashion industry is dictatorial. Like your tips on how to transition some items.
I just packed my bag for a week in Berlin, I packed my Toteme pleated tapered wool trousers, chunky Prada loafers, among other things. I took a satin midi dress for evening. I'm going to rock them, haha!!
You're going to look fabulous! They are totally still very very wearable styles. I was just recommending some items that are a bit more "in the now" but I assure you you will still look very modern and put together in those items. And with Toteme and Prada, you can't go wrong! Enjoy! Thank you for watching.
Hi Jenna, Oh I appreciate that so much! And I love wide leg trousers too, plus they are classic enough to wear beyond the duration of the trend! Thanks so much for being here!
I'm always interested in trends and usually adapt some into my clothing, however as an older woman I have learned to wear what I like and like what I wear
oh gosh, feels like much longer than that honestly. Maybe because I resisted it for most of the time it's been trending, LOL. I've always liked it on other women but it just never suited me, as much as I tried to force myself to like them. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Hi Dawn, it feels like forever to me because I feel like I resisted them for so long and I was smart to do so because they just don't fit with my style regardless of trying my best to style them with my wardrobe. Do you like them? If so, keep wearing them and enjoying them. I'd never tell anyone to throw out their clothes so I hope that message was clear in my video. Thanks so much for watching!
Things that are unflattering now, have always been unflattering, especially the midi skirt with the booties or any longer length pant or skirt that only shows part of your lower leg. It’s all about consumerism and getting you to spend your $$.
Been looking for denim maxi skirts and I agree, you can’t get them anywhere! But I found a midi from Rails, which I think would suit me better. It’s out for delivery tomorrow, so we’ll see. Also, I’m not getting rid of my sock boots. I wear them with wide leg trousers and maxi tulle skirt.
I hope you enjoy the skirt you bought. I really love the reformation skirt and I linked them in the description box if you want to check it out if you're not happy with the skirt. I think Mango also has some at a lower cost. Yes I am still going to wear my sock boots too and I will be hiding them under full length trousers too, I mentioned that in the video as well :) Thanks so much for watching!
If you look closely at the Nila denim maxi skirt I believe you will see that this looks like it started life as a pair of jeans. This is a common upcycle where you take denim jeans and remake them into a skirt.
Good information! I was never for the chunky loafer and the satin midi is not flattering for everyone, but what doesn’t work for me can work for someone else.
Hi Penelope, thank you so much for your lovely comment and you are absolutely right! The wonderful thing about fashion is that there is so much variety out there and we can all choose what works for us. I love it! Thank you for watching!
I definitely agree with the airy sheer looks and I’ve already started to make a few of my own sheer blouses. The hardest trend for me to ditch will definitely be the midi skirt haha I’ll probably still rock them, I can’t help it. Love the metallic shoe though! And I was pretty late in the game on the chunky loafers, they were a lot more fun in late fall with that dark academia aesthetic I always fall back on. Good pointers!
Loving your comment! Please keep your midi skirts and enjoy them, they are always classic. I just think they cut at an awkward part of the leg sometimes. I love chunky loafers on other women but had a hard time adapting them for my style. Never say never though. Thank you for watching.
I've struggled so much trying to sew sheer material! I've been thinking of taking it a different approach with a thin and slightly see-through cotton fabric rather than the slippery plastic like fabrics, and making a top to wear to the beach. My shoulders get sunburned easily, so something like gauze or voile will be slightly more protective (compared to mesh or chiffon) and also easier to sew, without being thick or dark like most shirting fabric. I have a few ideas for new summer items.
Finally! No more chunky loafers as the main trend. I have always loved loafers but at the same time have always hated chunky ones. What a relief! A chance shoe making companies will finally go back to thinner soils in loafers. Jeans maxi skirt are wonderful. Have always loved them. Nice to see them back. No way I'm giving up on my belowed Alpine style sweaters. As great Christmas style fanatic and apres ski partying lover I'm going to stick to my guns when it comes to this. ;-) Parisian style stripes are timeless. Have always loved them.
Hi Agata, so glad we agree on many of the items in this video. And yes I do think Apres sweaters are classic and don't necessarily look dated, I was merely suggesting a newer fresher option for spring. Keep wearing what you love! These are just suggestions, nothing more :) Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate it a ton.
I love ballerina flats. I have mostly midi dresses in my wardrobe. However, I’m only 5 feet tall so they fit me more like a maxi. I also appreciate the modest factor that you include in your style tips. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Deborah, thank you so much for watching and leaving your lovely comment. I appreciate it so much! Ballerina flats are definitely a classic timeless piece and I've loved them forever!
@@kathrinlancelle5348 That was me buying dresses as a kid/teen. My legs are really long, and my school required knee lengths skirts for choir/band, and it was so hard to find something that was the right length without having to take something in, or make it myself. Thankfully my grandmother taught me to sew and I could modify a few things and make repairs to what I liked. I also love flats, mostly because I'm tall, and don't have the best balance. I've been wearing barefoot shoes (no heel, and wider toe box) ever since they started to be a trend about 10 years ago, and while they don't fit the pointed toe trend, they don't look as out of place now as they did a couple years ago when everything was really tall and chunky.
I've reached the age where warmth easily outwins most other sonsiderations. Good to see some new options on how to wear a scarf which I wear most days.
Hi Monica, thank you for your comment. Which styles are you referring to? Is it the wide leg trousers? I have to say I feel like my waist looks smaller because the hips/legs have more volume in comparison? I know they are not for everyone so I respect your opinion. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! :)
I like to dress in clothes that suit me best with my own flair and tweaks. I like more timeless dressing and don't dress to trends anymore. I also don't like spending money on trendy pieces that are in today, but out tomorrow. Not good for the environment or my wallet. But I do see how it's fun to point out trends and sometimes they give us inspiration. :)
Hi Christen, you make a great point! I think it's so important to stay true to your personal style. I certainly don't buy into every trend but I do love to be in the know. Thanks so much for watching and for your thoughtful comment.
A great compliment to Maria for answering each comment - and this needs a lot of time - in such a kind way she does. Not only her content is fun and nice but herself is so sweet that seeing her videos is fun pure 🥰🌹👍
I am so happy to see the Frankenstein shoes going away. I never thought it was a good, or feminine look. I much prefer the ballerina flats. I love the new trouser look! Thanks for showing us these.
Thank you for sharing your height and dimensions. It’s wonderful to see someone with almost the same sizing, apart from the feet. I can actually visualise myself. Great video. Take care 😀
Trends are social compliance. It is akin to keeping up with the Joneses. Embrace your own personality and style that's the best way to be. Whether it's Ultra Bohemian or Tres Chic wear what you love and makes you feel good that's what's important.
Yes I always say that. Wear what you love! These videos are just reporting the trends with some opinion thrown in but They don’t have to be followed. Take it with a grain of salt 😋 thanks for your comment ❤️
I love both ankle high waisted work pant and a wide leg, which I have been wearing for about four years. I have too many ankle pants and wear them to work. I am not ready to stop wearing them.
I love wide leg (not baggy) denim and trousers. Bought one pair of not too chunky loafers. I have worn them once so far. Glad ballet flats are trendy again .
Hi Michele, Thank you for your lovely comment. I hope you get more use out of your chunky loafers than I have. Yes totally here for the ballet flats. Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Judy, thank you so much for sharing. ballet flats and wide leg pants can be considered classics so they'll stand the test of time. Thank you for spending some of your day with me.
Hi Jamil, thank you for your comment. That was smart. I also wore chunky loafers and combat boots in the 90's, I should have left them there :) Tried it again and never feel quite myself when wearing them. Thanks for watching!
Hi-waisted wide leg pants that have pleats at the waist are a complete no-go for an apple figures, especially those with a shorter torso and fuller bust, unfortunately.... actually no high waist pants are. Flat front mid-rise are working very well though🙂
Hi Bozena, my sister is an apple shape and very curvy. She loves her high waisted wide leg pants because she wears the right size for her. Many times women do not size up and that will make all the difference. These trousers are supposed to drape loosely on the silhouette and many women try to wear them tight and that doesn't work. Also, high rise provides more support and will hide a muffin top which many mid rise and low rise exacerbate. I am short waisted and i buy trousers that hit my belly button or a little above. I think you are missing out on a beautiful style but if you are convinced its not for you, I completely understand. Thank you for your time.
@@MariaNicoleStyle Actually, I have been wearing wide leg pants and on the draping side for longer than they are in vogue precisely because they work really well for an apple. My point was that for an apple with a very short waist and big chest the the front pleats create additional volume in most voluminous area of the body, which is detrimental. Mid-rise, on the other hand, gives an impression of a longer torso and is still high enough to "subscribe" to the high waist trend.
@@bozenawiatrak2039 I think again if the pants fit tight, the pleats will pull and emphasize the tummy but when they lay flat they can be very camouflaging. And I guess it depends if you want to appear to have a longer torso versus having longer legs. I think having the look of longer legs make you look taller overall than having a longer torso. That’s just me. We all have different preferences and that’s what makes us unique and special. Thank you for stating your point of view. I appreciate it a ton.
True personal style juggernauts avoid the rigidity of trends. What's in, what's out, never really applies to them. They are always open to what's going on in fashion and with street style but true style is adopted from inspiration and inspiration can be pulled from a myriad of moods, feelings, cultures, experiences, commonalities, and the such. What's in and what's out can be too dictorial for some. That said, every point of view has something to offer.
Nicely said. These videos are meant to share opinion and entertain. I always encourage women to wear what they love and what gives them confidence. Some women like to know about trends and will dabble in what works for them personally. I never want women to wear something just because it’s popular.
Definitely a Jean maxi skirt at a lower price range, the pros and cons of high low cost, and how to wear it. I’m not a fan of channel, but I do have ballerina flats by Steve Madden, very comfortable. I like a semi puffy sleeve, I have a few dresses. Still wear it. Sheer does look beautiful if worn correctly. A cami is a must. Excellent video, I just found you!
Hi Analy, thank you so much for you thoughtful comment. Mango has some maxi denim skirts at a lower cost. I can't justify the cost of Chanel so I'm quite happy and content with my Steve Maddens too :) Yes please keep wearing what you love. These videos are just informative and I would never encourage women to actually throw out their clothes so I hope I communicated that well because I mentioned it several times. I'm so glad you found me. I hope to see you again!
Lovely video but I disagree with you on Chunky Loafers..I absolutely love them and would continue to wear them! As they say Fashion is very subjective!
Thank you and yes it’s very subjective. I love them on other women and finally broke down and bought a pair but they just don’t fit with my style as much as I tried to make them work. I’m sure they look fabulous on you. Thank you so much for watching!
Loved all your suggestions...thank you so much for helping us stay stylish ❤❤... I would love to see details on how to wear the maxi denim skirt...shoes and tops to go with the look would be wonderful !!!❤❤❤

Thank you for this helpful video. I’m currently updating my wardrobe so I’m looking forward to shopping for some new pieces. Now I know what to buy. Especially the wide leg trousers!
Hi Suzette, Thank you so much for watching and I'm thrilled you found it helpful. I have two recent videos out about how to style wide leg jeans/trousers for spring; ua-cam.com/video/iQBLhXkmuzo/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/X2eemTMOWv8/v-deo.html These might be helpful as well. Have fun shopping!
I actually LOVE hip slung trousers and jeans. Not like the 90's when they were skinny and super low, but the straighter leg, hip hitting pants. I love the relaxed look, even waist high but not tight at the hips are fine,, wear8ng a little looser than before.
Hi Janelle, I’m happy you’ve found a style you love! I’m sure you rock it! For me it’s about emphasizing an hourglass shape so I always like to have some sort of defined waist and I think high rise help me achieve that better. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I don’t buy a lot of clothes, I am retired and at home working in my garden or wood shop most of the time. But I have gained weight and needed a few things for a trip to a three day celebration of life and reunion type thing. I found a lovely pair of slightly wide leg black slacks which are cut very long (for me, 5’4). I wore them with a pair of platform suede pumps and they were flattering, comfortable, and super versatile! I also picked up a charcoal plaid type design on winter white loose fitting blazer with 3/4 length sleeves . It has large patch looking pockets with bound pocket openings on the slant ( my mind will not release the correct term!), again very versatile for being places I didn’t care to carry a purse. I wore three different bright color solid tops and it made the whole trip so much easier. The slacks were speedy for me at $120, and though I want to lose these pounds, I hope they still fit then!
Hi Carole, sounds like you made some great classic style choices to freshen up your wardrobe. You'll have them for a long time. You can always have the trousers tailored if you change sizes. Thank you so much for sharing and for your time. Warmest regards!
Embrace and embraced lol. I think we need to find a new word. Great video!! I like to watch trends but refuse to wear something I don't like and think it looks unflattering. Loafers and puffy sleeves were always a big no. The same goes for baggy pants.
I don't write scripts so I guess that word was just naturally coming out. Don't ever buy a trend just because someone suggests it. Determine if its part your personal style and if you will truly enjoy it. Then you can "embrace" the trend. But sounds like you already know that :) Thanks for your comment
Me either! They are a an absolute must. I don't understand women's love for lower rises. It's shortening and unflattering, not to mention a muffin top situation, no thank you! Thanks for your comment :)
Hi Sigride! My favorite two as well. In fact I have a styling video for wide leg jeans coming on Wednesday! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Hi Sandy, yes please keep your skirt and keep enjoying it. It is classic! I was merely suggesting a trendy item since the video was about trends. You'll never look dated in it! I just find them hard to wear because I don't like the length on me usually cutting me mid calf, not my favorite on me. Thank you for watching!!!!
@@MariaNicoleStyle thank you. I nearly killed myself, as I kept on tripping over my wide legged jeans lol and I'm happy that the ballerina shoes are back in style as well
Thanks so much. All of your advice makes so much sense. I find the hardest thing to keep up with is shoes or boots. Hand bags too. They make the outfit. So thank you for talking about footwear. ❤
You are so welcome Sharon and thank you for watching. I'm glad you found some helpful information in the video. Shoes and accessories are a great way to update an outfit however they can be costly but I think brands like Steve Madden, Vince Camuto, Express, Sam Edeldman, and Jeffrey Cambell (to name a few) have great trendy options that can keep you current without breaking the bank.
I think you favourite shoe type would go well with maxi jeans skirt and some loose long torusers. They look good on you. As for sheer blouse, black one looks way better on you than white one. It's about how both match your figure. Black version is way more flattering for your bodytype. Looks more elegant really.
Hi Agata, thank you so much for your comment. I always appreciate feedback on the items I select. It's funny, one person said they wouldn't wear that sheer black top for Halloween but they were probably just a troll so I blocked them. Thank you for being kind! :)
Omg at the 23/24 Fall shows they showed cold shoulder and a lot of them! chunky striped sweaters are a classic and never go out of style. I can' seem to find a denim skirt that I like! Like you I have been looking for the last three months.
I saw that too but I don’t think I’ll buy into it this time around. I love the reformation skirt I got, it’s linked. I’m guessing more brands will replenish soon. Just keep an eye on your favorite brands. They are hard to find. Thank you for your comment 😄
At 4 foot 11 tapered ankle trousers are perfect for me, slight wide leg are Okish, but I am worried about being swamped, high heals are not an option for me at the moment. I think along with the sustainability trend, anything now goes.
Hi Rach, for a petite frame, tailoring is your best friend. If you can't wear heels, make sure your trousers are hemmed perfectly to brush the tops of your shoes for maximum lengthening. Also I agree, tapered ankle trousers are perfect for you. And yes I think overall women can wear whatever they feel good in. Trends are just one snippet of style. Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Christine! Aww thanks so much. Not sure what I did differently, maybe it was better lighting, LOL. To be honest, I feel so much better as a blonde. I have a twin sister and she has gorgeous brown hair but I just can't picture myself like that anymore. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment.
Glad it was helpful! That’s a lot for me to spend, trend or no trend. I tire or clothes too quickly but I’d imagine a leather skirt will last a lifetime. I don’t think midis are going away but maxis are just currently more on the forefront. Thank you so much for watching!
I am very fashion forward. I don't see any of these styles as being out. Some may be more popular/newer with your suggestions but all are still very much wearable and wouldn't date your style.
Hi Rhelda, I agree most of these "outdated styles" are ones that can stand the test of time but I always like to be in the know of the trends and choose what i'd like to inject into my current wardrobe for a little refresh. Just suggestions and recommendations but ultimately I know all the lovely ladies watching will make their own decisions :) Thank you so much for your lovely comment!

Good morning and happy Sunday. Great video. I am embracing the wide leg. Baggy pants now. Just got a pair of cargo khaki color wide leg. Very comfortable. Good for my work. I never liked the lug sole shoes. very masculine feel like I’m just schlepping around in them. I do like feminine high heels Oxfords …. and those adorable pink platform shoes of yours 💓👠
Hi Clarissa! So happy to see you. I learned my lesson on the chunky soles- yes too masculine. Give me a heel any day! I hope you enjoy your cargo wide legs! I’m sure you are the most stylish woman at work!!! Thank you for being here!
Those denim maxis are hot! Literally. AND HEAVY. Denim does not flow. But anyone who has worn denim overalls to clean stalls knows that. In any event some may enjoy. Wear what you want everybody!
Thank you so much for your insights of todays trends. I appreciate your sensitivity and Dow to earth style. I would love to see more styling with the denim maxi skirt. Thanks and blessings to you.

Oh I'm so glad you found that helpful. Especially if you love the trousers, 2 pairs will help you get that much more use out of them. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Silvia, thank you for your comment! I'm sure you look gorgeous in blue! Lots of the trends come in blue so I'm sure you can find something in your color pallet if you choose too, otherwise wear what you love and don't be swayed by this video :) cobalt blue is a hot color for spring. Just came across you and subscribed immediately! Love your honest take on fashion and also for inclusiveness of fashion forward companies that are also affordable (especially with trends it’s good to not invest toooo much $ 😊). I am dad about the sock booties too but noticed that almost no one had any this season so I figured they were on their way out.
Hi Mickey thank you so much for watching and commenting. Yes I try to be as honest as possible and prefer to keep pricing moderate. I also can’t justify spending too much on items I’ll quickly tire of. I like to refresh with trendy items seasonally. Don’t get rid of your sock booties please. Wear them and enjoy them. I know I still will 😄 thank you again and hope to see you soon.
I'm short waisted too and I only prefer high waisted pants. Pleats add volume if the pants are too small and the pleats pull, otherwise they are just draping and very shapely. Besides if it adds a little volume to the hips, it will make your waist look smaller. Volume isn't always a bad thing, Please watch my latest video for some high waist tips and perhaps you'll give them a try. Thank you for watching.

Ballerina flats have no support whatsoever. I have several pairs of Edelman flats and I can only wear them for so long before my feet hurt. Ugh, sheer fabrics and metallic shoes remind me of disco. Consider the environmental damage of discarding clothing (even to second hand shops) that keeping up with trends causes and maybe figure out a way to add something new, like an accessory, to update your wardrobe.
Hi Denise, In my video I encouraged women to hang on to their items until the trend comes back again. I never said to throw away or give away. Thank you for your thoughtful comment.
@@MariaNicoleStyle Giving clothing away isn't necessarily a bad thing. Many women's shelters and churches that service them will take used clothing to give to women looking for work. I enjoyed your video and I'm not trying to be critical.
Really liked this! I have a similar body shape (but I’m a lot shorter) so this is very helpful for me. I love that the brands mentioned are accessible to everyone. As for the trends- in my opinion, the cut out shoulders were a terrible thing- very cheap looking to me- I’m happy to see those go away completely. I love the midi shirts with sweaters so I’m actually buying one of those after seeing this. Definitely not a fan of the maxi denim skirt- it looks stiff and constricting to me- looks a little like it’s trying too hard too- just my opinion. Love the video- I subscribed and I’m looking forward to watching all of them. Thank you!

So happy that puffy shoulders and sleeves are on their way out! So tired of some of these looks that seem to have stuck around longer than the norm. Love the wide leg trousers and metallic heels.

I honestly think we’ve reached the time where people are wearing what they want. Almost everything goes. ❤️
I think the wonderful thing about fashion is that it’s a form of self expression. Some women love to follow trends and be on the forefront and others prefer to stick to their own style. There’s nothing wrong with either choice. Thank you for your comment!
Yes, this seems to be the truth where I live, too.
Thank you!
It certainly does in NYC, where I live.

@@lorianderson1179 thank you Lori! Means so much !!!
You stated that beautifully. Thank you.
(Not just that I'm getting old!)
But I did like seeing how you paired clothes and shoes.
When you are barely 5’00” those pleated wide leg trousers look super silly. The ankle trousers are more flattering on us shorties. 😊
I agree! A denim maxi skirt is sooo unflattering. Denim is too heavy a material for a skirt.

Wear what suits you is my advice . Don’t give up clothes that you love
Ultimately yes that was my message in the video as well
Thanks 🙏 for understanding us weirdos Maria . Not everyone wants to be basic 👍🏼💕💕💕
I love my New Balance trainers. Have been wearing them for ten years and will always wear them. They are classics in my opinion.
My Platform Converse Chuck Taylor's... I wear year round, with my vintage wool maxi skirt, tennis skirt or kimo wrapped mini dress.

Things that are unflattering now, have always been unflattering, especially the midi skirt with the booties or any longer length pant or skirt that only shows part of your lower leg. It’s all about consumerism and getting you to spend your $$.

Pleats 🛑outwards ,toward your hips/pockets for a flattering effect. If pleats are reversed ,gives a wider hips/waistline look.
Hi Kiki, very interesting point. I'll have to look for that. Thank you.
I have some midi skirts that fit me like a mini. Lol
Thank you so much for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
These styles do nothing to flatter a waist. You have a very gracious demeanor. Thank you.
Great video, I could never get into the chunky loafers. I’m very petite and I think they over take me. 🤩💛
Hi Pam, thank you so much! And yes I agree they are a hard trend to pull off. I never felt quite right in them.
Don’t feel bad. I am a 6ft tall woman and I look like frankensteins monster in them. I am not sure who was pulling them off.
Thank you for the great ideas. Luv the long denim skirt and the striped cardigans.
I'm so glad you found it helpful. Thank you for watching.
A great compliment to Maria for answering each comment - and this needs a lot of time - in such a kind way she does. Not only her content is fun and nice but herself is so sweet that seeing her videos is fun pure 🥰🌹👍
Thank you so much Nelly. It's one of my most favorite things about this platform!
I feel that chunky loafers work best with bootcut or flare pants/jeans for the Y2K aesthetic.
Yes that's definitely a y2k aesthetic :)
I got rid of cold shoulder sweaters two years ago. I really embraced this trend because I have narrow shoulders. Now they make me gag.
Lol I saw them on the runways for FW23 again! I’ll be staying away this time 😄
I just don’t like the heavy denim maxi skirts. I opted for a midi light weight one.
Oh that's great! I'm so glad you found one to suit your style. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
I am so happy to see the Frankenstein shoes going away. I never thought it was a good, or feminine look. I much prefer the ballerina flats. I love the new trouser look! Thanks for showing us these.
Thanks so much Susan! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!!
I love 🖤Frankenstein , and chunky boots tho😩 , I’m keeping them 👍🏼
Thank you for sharing your height and dimensions. It’s wonderful to see someone with almost the same sizing, apart from the feet. I can actually visualise myself. Great video. Take care 😀
I’m so glad it was helpful. Thank you for watching!
Hi Bella, I'm not ready to stop either :) Wear what you love and what flatters you. More power to you! Thank you so much for your lovely comment!
Love ballerina flats! Love wide leg pants. The striped sweater emphasizes my stomach which has grown with age (72). Thanks for your updates!
Hi Judy, thank you so much for sharing. ballet flats and wide leg pants can be considered classics so they'll stand the test of time. Thank you for spending some of your day with me.
Your ankle trousers are wayyyyy more flattering. Just say’n
I have to agree! If they were the only trousers I could wear I'd definitely choose those but I do like variety too. Thank you for sharing!
The ballet flats look so cute. I didn't buy chunky loafers on this go around like I did in the 90s.
Thank you for sharing ,this is really my style
I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Hope to see you again.
Denim maxi skirt styling would be great. I like your sheer choices too. I never bought the chunky loafer or a Silk midi anyway, lol.
Hi Jayme, thank you for your comment. Yes I'd love to make a video for the maxi skirt. Silk midis are overrated, LOL
I love your style! The denim skirt and striped sweater are two of my favorites.
Thank you so much Linda, I'm so happy you enjoyed it! two of my faves as well!
Loved all your suggestions...thank you so much for helping us stay stylish ❤❤... I would love to see details on how to wear the maxi denim skirt...shoes and tops to go with the look would be wonderful !!!❤❤❤
Hello, thank you for your comment. I have an entire video on styling up a maxi denim skirt: ua-cam.com/video/sOV1RdRQpyM/v-deo.html Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for visiting!
I will keep on wearing big puffy balloon sleeves till my last day, because everybody says I look pretty in it 😂😂😂❤
I think that's wonderful and it if resonates with your personal style, that is what you should wear and love! Thanks for watching.
@@MariaNicoleStyle Thanks for your video and the great styling tips you are sharing 🌸☺️❤️
@@MariaNicoleStyle Hi Maria! Thank you, I’ll definitely check them out! Without fashionistas like you, I’m lost👏🏻
Your video is very helpful. Definitely would appreciate styling videos of the new trends. Many thanks.
Hi Marilyn, I'm so glad you found it helpful. I will definitely would like to put out some more styling videos. Thanks so much!
I will never given up my high waisted pants lol
Me either! They are a an absolute must. I don't understand women's love for lower rises. It's shortening and unflattering, not to mention a muffin top situation, no thank you! Thanks for your comment :)
I love the wide leg trousers and the maxi denim skirt. These will be the new items I will be wearing. Thank you for the video, I enjoyed watching it.
Hi Sigride! My favorite two as well. In fact I have a styling video for wide leg jeans coming on Wednesday! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Love the black sheer top with the black trousers on you and also like your hair straight 😊 Love your style
Thank you Diana! I appreciate that a ton! Thank you for watching!
Agree with most, but keeping my midi silk skirt - LOVE this look and trend. Maybe if we keep wearing this the runway will trend towards this. :)
I really enjoy your videos!!!! thanks for keeping me in style!
I appreciate that so much and thank you for supporting the channel! Happiest 2024 to you!
We're back to the 80s and 90s, I'm happy, back to my youth and I love them. A tip everyone, hunt in thrift stores and charity shops or ebay
Great tip! I have found some gems in thrift stores.
@@MariaNicoleStyle absolutely agree, it is finding someone who i a good seamstress, I do think I may go to a tailor xx
You skin is glowing! It would like be nice see you in your natural hair color :)
I almost bought a $500. Midi style leather skirt glad I didn't spend the $$🤑. It's fun to follow style. Thanks for your tips
Fucia is the color of the year and dog flowers sheer dresses.
I love Fuschia! Also, red is having a strong moment right now. Thanks so much for watching.
@@MariaNicoleStyle I have no idea how the word dog was put into that sentence lol. I guess that is what happens when you talk to text sometimes, and yes the color fuchsia is the color of the year. Please don't listen to the hatters about your hair. People think because you put yourself out here that it is okay to insult, and that isn't right. Keep being you.
I can't believe people are commenting on your roots. It's nobody's business, and did they ever stop and think that maybe you are growing your hair out or maybe you just like your hair that way, or maybe you just your hair appointment wasn't for another few weeks. Either way it's no ones business. I think you look amazing!
Thank you so much Julie, I appreciate that a ton! My roots come in fast so sometimes it feels like forever before my next appt! I like it and accept it. Thanks so much for your kind words!

Love your styling the clothes and that you say "don't throw them out"! I'm a fan now and find your advice fun, even if I don't follow it.
Yes! Thank you!
Mine really doesn't feel that heavy. I'm enjoying it immensely. Yes let's all wear what we want!!! Thanks for your comment.
Thanks, enjoyed your video very much. Like your kindness and generosity. And the metallics shoes!

Thanks for the idea of buying trousers for heels and for flats by just changing the inseem ❤
Oh I'm so glad you found that helpful. Especially if you love the trousers, 2 pairs will help you get that much more use out of them. Thanks so much for watching.
I love your style and your suggestions. I won’t follow them because I only wear blue. Trousers in winter and some skirts and dresses in summer.
Thank you so much for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I really prefer the shorter trousers on you. The longer pant actually seems to make you look shorter, especially with the flats.
Thank you Heidi! My go-to trousers is definitely the tapered ankle length. I feel more feminine in it than the long trousers as well.
Love the Zara metallic sling backs. Thanks!
Thank you, they are fabulous. I just with Zara was better quality :(
@@MariaNicoleStyle Have to agree. They have great designs but the quality is lacking, unfortunately.
I'm short waisted, the high waisted pants never look good on me. Everyone knows that a pleated pant adds width to the hip area.
All good ,but this is trend that last not for long.i agree the most with french.

Thank you so much for watching Donna. I really appreciate it! Thanks for the video suggestion.
Thank you!
Hi Melissa thanks so much for your comment. I’m glad you found it helpful. I’m glad your forming your own opinions about the trends. Wear what works for you! So happy you found the channel. Hope to see you again. Thank you
So happy that puffy shoulders and sleeves are on their way out! So tired of some of these looks that seem to have stuck around longer than the norm. Love the wide leg trousers and metallic heels.
