I have to stretch out for at least 20 minutes before sewing. Then every two to three hours, I stretch out again. Prevents so much pain. I'm arthritic, this works well for me. It's nice to find a system that works for one's self. We all have different requirements and so it's great to have something individualized. Thanks for sharing this. I work in a corner of my room as well. My set up doesn't break down and that is how I need it. I do plan on getting a folding roll away cutting table. My threads are on wall racks, other systems of storage didn't work for me. I need to buy another cone and spool rack. My bright lights are Edison string lights that hangs from the ceiling. I did replace one lightbulb with a purple grow light and I get my fake sun in the winter that way. I have random wooden boxes to store things like tools and such.
Hi there! It's always interesting to me to see how we all make the most of our spaces. I totally agree with the thread storage. I have very similar boxes and have them sorted by color. I have my various cutting mats hanging behind the door and lay them on the sewing space to cut. I actually have kept my ironing board separated from my actual sewing area. It forces me to get up and stretch lol. I also find that I adjust my space fairly frequently. It helps me recall what I have and use and what were not smart purchases so can dump them. Take good care. Have a fabulous today, Steph😁
THIS IS FABULOUS SWEETIE! I LOVE IT! MY SPACE IS SMALL. I HAVE A DEN/OFFICE/SEWING ROOM. WHAT I AM USING IS A SMALL LAPTOP TROLLEY TABLE FOR CUTTING FABRIC AND IRONING. WHAT WILL BE A GAME CHANGER FOR ME IS A GOOD WOODEN SLAT THAT I CAN LEAN UP AGAINST THE WALL BEHIND MY DOOR. I CAN PUT THE SLAT ON TOP OF MY TROLLEY AND USE IT THAT WAY.
I use the crevice tool , blue 3m painters tape, and a straw and vacuum my sewing machines. You can reuse the painters tape over and over again. Just tape it to the side of the Dyson .The serger gets very dusty!
I use a dinning table with extended legs to achieve a right height. No more hunching/back pain. I recently added a high chair so that I can sit and work on the cutting table. I also added a small portable vacuum cleaner in the sewing room. Makes cleaning much easier. Same here I like sewing thread in the drawer. I really enjoy your video! ❤
I love the light and plan to get one. I relate to the back problems. I find Pilates helps me enormously. It strengthens your core and improves your posture as a result, even if you have hyper mobility. I use an online one in the UK who does Clinical Pilates and gives very clear instructions. You probably have a good one in Lithuania, but let me know if you would like me to send you a link.
I use part of a bedroom for my sewing space. I usually have to pack it all away when my grandchildren come to stay as they sleep in there - to give more space but also so they don't fiddle with anything. I was intrigued with your table. I use the dining room table, which does make my back ache and I would like something a little taller, I'm not sure your solution would be tall enough for me. I loved the thread boxes and may well have to invest is one. I've a drawer full of threads and spend a lot of time rummaging around in it. Thanks for sharing.
I also try to pack as much away as I can after I’m done sewing, as my son and cat are both very interested in my sewing space😅 I do keep a toolbox with safe to play sewing tools (like marking wheel, sewing gauge, ruler, etc.), so that my son can safely explore - he enjoys it a lot!🤗
LOVE the thread boxes, they seem like the better option to protect from dust particles . I never could get sold on those wooden stands for that very reason. Congratulations 🌼 on your upgraded space
I am amazed that you were cutting your fabric on the floor and am so happy to see that you have gotten a folding table. As an occupational health nurse, I would urge you to get a set of plastic furniture risers from a hardware store or online to raise the height of your table for a more ergonomic experience. You will need the extra height to further decrease your back pain and to make it easier to fully extend your arm as you use the rotary cutter. While you are right about the convenience of an L or U shaped work station it is important to get up out of your chair peridically to prevent muscle strain. A quick hop up to iron the seam that you just sewed will really help to reduce fatigue.
I agree. My chiropractor help me figure out my sewing space to include movement so I do get up and move. If you want to sew for the rest of your life you need to consider that.
@Julija_Gobere, you are most welcome. You will be amazed at the difference that they make. They are so easy to use and tuck away when you are finished with them. They really are a game changer! 😀 Please let us know how you like them. Hugs from Canada 🇨🇦 where we are getting snow today.
After 2 knee replacements those days of getting on the floor are long gone. I have one of those cheap Walmart tables that works great for my sewing needs. I do have it against a wall and just to difficult to go on other side. So I make sure I make some matching marks on pattern and fabric. I make sure my fabric is anchored down good and then I turn my cutting board around. I make sure everything is lined back up and no wrinkles in pattern or fabric and get back to my cutting. Works for me.
If you can’t get to a Pilates place, you can get exercises from a physical therapist. Bridges exercise the hips back glutes , etc. The folding table is a game changer. Mine came from Costco. I a 6 foot and a four foot. The 4 foot is adjustable so it can be higher and makes cutting easier on the back. As a teenager,I would put the dining room table on cans to lift the height for my mother so she could cut fabric and save her back !
@@Julija_Gobere Hi Julija, I liked this video. The hight of your new cutting table is still not high enough. This can cause back pain again from bending over too deep. I would extend the table legs to the perfect hight. Take PVC pipe little thicker than the legs of your table, drill through the pipe to fit a screw. Insert the screw, this will be the stopper, not to let the leg go through all the way. Drill another set of holes for adjustment screws. Insert the leg of the table in the PVC pipe, and tighten it with the adjustment screw. Is the same concept how you stabilize the Christmas tree in the stand with the screws. Do it with all 4 legs, and voila, you don't need to bend so low. You can drill several stopper holes, and you have adjustable hight. You can leave the extension on. I hope I didn't confuse you. If you are confused, please let me know, and I can e-mail a drawing.
I have no idea how you can cut out whilst sitting. You must be quite tall. If, in the future, you need to stand to cut, raise the height of the tables legs. Pipe offcuts from plumbing supplies work well. Also, a longer table, with folding legs only, can go across the foot of the bed easily and still fit under it. I used that for years with great success. You have a very efficient and elegantly set up, playpen lol. Impressive and ingenious.
If it was me, I would test out storing my bobbins with the thread. Granted I have ended up with a lot of bobbins, so can have more or less one bobbin pr. Colour. But it looks like your box have room for the bobbins as well. I said try, because there probably is a problem I haven't foreseen.
I have another box just for bobbins - I use several machines that uses different type bobbins, so I try to wind as little thread for each project as possible, in case I need to use that thread on different machine/bobbin in the future🤗
I found you and I love the themes. so: you got pain because you eat wrong. sorry to tell you. eat GAPS-Diet from dr natasha campbell-mcbride. be strict. no more pain. greetings from germany
I’m so happy I found your channel today. I sewed as a girl and am returning to it 50 years later. Your videos are excellent! Thank you, Bonnie
You've mentioned your small sewing space before. I'm always amazed at the incredible work you turn out in a tiny space. Such an amazing talent.
Your content is so high quality! ❤
You always have amazing ideas. Working in a small space is hard, and your ideas have been a game changer. Much thanks😊
You have some good videos. Subscribed

Very clever solution!
HAVING A VACUM CLEANER IN THE SEWING ROOM IS VERY SUFFICIENT TO HAVE. IT'S SERIOUSLY NEEDED.
I use that vacuum cleaner more than I thought I would!😅 Such a useful item to have🙌

I was actually thinking about adding Pilates to my workout routine!🤗
Great ideas, thanks. I love your blue top - is it one of your own patterns?

I bought a small vacuum cleaner on sale years ago. It's so nice to have when surging. The good tiny ones like you have weren't available back then.

what size is your cutting out table? I love the thread storage... I am going to give myself permission to change from vertical storage!

Where is your lovely Jack industrial machine
It’s next to opposite wall, right next to cutting table🤗
