One of our favorite memories when my kids were little is when we watched "A Christmas Story" together. It was the first time we saw the movie, and it was ROTFL at the restaurant scene. We still talk about it once in a while, and the kids are over 40. By far our favorite Christmas movie!
You mentioned "Christmas Vacation" as being one of your fav movies. Well so happens I worked on that production. The outside of the house is or was ( haven't been over there in many years), is, was on the Columbia Ranch. Which is a block or two from Warner Brothers Studio, in Burbank Ca.The interior of the house was on stage on the WB lot.Sorry can't remember the number.Except for the attic which was built in Breckinridge CO, as a back-up set in case of foul weather(which we did have). The hunt for the tree and the sled scenes were all done in Breckinridge CO. As well as the interior of the store. I think it was a Walmart. Don't know if the Columbia Ranch / Warner Brothers has a tour of the backlot or not. I've been retired for 7 years an a number of years since being on the WB lot. My position on that production was as " A Camera 2nd Asisstant Cameraman". For many years Chevy would send us Christmas cards from his family." The gift that keeps on giving". I retired with a total of 45 yrs in the studios.
My husband and I and my Dad really enjoyed Christmas Vacation for years, and still do. So great you could work on that film and be a part of movie history! So Cool! So neat that Chevy would send you Christmas cards. Thanks for this post.
Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story are our favorites as well. We never miss a year. We also watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles every Thanksgiving. Thanks for the tour!
Dear Eric, I hear your voice and Jax🐾 meow ALL DAY (Everyday) while my Husband binge watches your channel...... We live in our 1984 Itasca motorhome off hwy 101 in Oregon with our dog Bailey🐶 I hear your voice... More than my Husband Arthur L Smith Jr!!😲
Your traveling VIDEOS just keep getting more interesting & so fun.. I can tell by your big smile LIFE IS GOOD. YOU had a Blast touring this house. THANKS SAFE TRAVELS
For the magnet collection, you can make a mass photograph of them. Then just stick the lightweight photo to a kitchen cabinet. I had to do that with Burger Chef restaurant memorabilia. The real items were taking up too much room. So I photographed everything and sold the original items. I tell you, it is just as satisfying having facsimiles of the collector's items! Nothing more to dust.
OH HECK YEAH get the Leg Lamp magnet! I must have watched that show every Christmas time since it came out! The kids beds are the same I grew up with and the old phone hanging on the wall! great tour! Blue Sky's and Safe Journeys!
If you are on I-90 toll, they have free showers in the rest areas! The ONLY good thing about that toll road in Ohio! I've used them many times trucking. And why not keep collecting magnets. Once a year put that years collection away and in years down the road have them all mounted in YOUR museum!
I went with the Ralphie in the bunny suit magnet when I was there last summer. Definitely worth the price of admission. Cleveland was a surprise with all the things to do and see!
I was born a few blocks from there... so you drove right past me while I was at work on lincoln way, now you are driving up and down the street where I was born.
Another great one. Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation are staples in our house. Have to see (many tomes) each season. Great to see the tour up close. I bought the lamp for my son and and ornament. Will have to look for the coffee mug now. Drive safe. As always can’t wait for the next video.
Excellent adventure Eric. My kids would watch A Christmas Story every year when they were little, my youngest son would watch Home Alone over and over and over and over..... Thanks Eric!! 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥
Eric & Jaxs hi! Thanks for the tour of the Christmas Story house and the trivia. I still have the 'Red Ryder BB gun' from when I was a kid. Yes, I was a tomboy. That was a long time before the movie, but western were very popular then. It is still a straight shooter.
I have watched Planes , Trains and Automobiles EVERY Thanksgiving and A Christmas Story at Christmas every year since they came out . I can't even imagine those holidays without both movies . PK
Great coverage of the Christmas Story House. Did they tell you the story as to why the shipping crates on the leg lamps say, "his side up"??? You cannot get anywhere close to this place during the holidays btw. We covered this location on our channel as well, and btw, the same day we visited the Christmas Story House, we went down (not that far away) to another place called Castle Noel where Cousin Eddie's RV is at! It is in Medina, Ohio... if you are in the area again, you need to check that place out too. The slide from the Christmas Story movie is there and you can actually go down it. Would love to go on one of these adventures with you sometime, we would have a blast!
Thanks Eric! I love this kind of stuff. When in Denver we toured the Molly Brown house. So interesting but also a sad life that was different from the Hollywood version. I love watching A Christmas Story every year. My #1 is Home Alone with ACS #2.
Thx for sharing! I live near the house, in a suburb of Cleveland and haven't been there yet, even tho my daughter lived down the street briefly. I even went downtown and was one of many "milling" about to make the sidewalks filled. I LOVE this movie too. Thanks again!
The Christmas Story is certainly one of my favourites as well. The firetruck that was used at the "flag pole" incident was indeed from the Chippawa Volunteer Fire Department. They still have that fire truck today and use it for special events and parades. The one at the museum is a replica or similar. But the original is in Niagara Falls at the Chippawa Volunteer Fire Hall to this day. Just a real classic movie that I watch at least 5-6 times during the holidays.
Great Video Eric! Your travel and tour videos are great. You put in just the right amount of content to make your videos interesting without spoiling going to see the sites for ones self.
Loved the Christmas House tour! Horrah for magnets! What about displaying on bathroom door? Nice big area. They don't weigh that much either! Safe travels as you zip back across the US!
Hey, wow you are a Christmas Vacation junkie! It was a cute movie. Thank you for the tour. I tried to change the photo on here to that of my "Jax" name potato kitty. We call her potato, or momma kitty, or potato weight, mash (on Thanksgiving). Jax and her look allot alike.
Eric, Thanks so much for sharing. This is my ABSOLUTE favorite movie EVER! I can watch this all year long. I was there at the house in Feb of 2017 & it was amazing. I have that same magnet lol. Need to buy you one of those BB guns, just for added security :) lol Safe travels as always to you and Jax...
Take pictures of your magnets and put them on a thumb drive or categorize them and make a wall paper print. Magnets are heavy, but you still want to see them.
I love that movie! So many great lines: "A Major Award!" "It must be Italian!" and on and on. Had no idea it was open for tours and glad to see it is so popular. 92 degrees! Sheesh! I couldn't imagine you wouldn't get a magnet at this of all places. I'd have been shocked if you hadn't. Totally different genre, but I know you're a big SOA fan - I've got some pictures I took of the Teller Morrow garage set and Unser's little Airstream (I live not too far from where they filmed).
Omg the best of the best. This is my all time favorite Christmas movie. On tbs channel they play the movie over and over for a straight 24 hours on Christmas and yes it's tradition in my family to watch it over and over on Christmas. I have the leg lamp like you do also the ornament. I so enjoyed this video. Thank you
To your trolls - Let them try to produce a similar video editing in clips from other media. Bravo! This is another excellent example of your WORK! You deserve every cent you make doing this!
It certainly shows that you watched that movie more than once. Not only that, but that you knew the film so well that you were able to shoot the things in your visit that you knew that you would be able to add the clips. This is a GREAT piece of work to show us AMERICA! I can't wait till you visit Canada!
I think you can use a hot glue gun to put your magnets on the ceiling, then they're easy to take off the ceiling. I don't think the hot glue would mess up the ceiling material. You can do a test patch on one of the magnets incase you decide to go that route.
I love the Christmas Story! My kids were young when it first came out, and we've watched it every year since. I did not like the 'updated' version last Christmas, I may have to buy the DVD for this year.
I know your probably a few days away already, but in Medina (South of Cleveland) there is “Castle Noel” which has more Christmas movie props along with cousin eddies RV and the department store Santa slide from a Christmas story.
Great video eric. Christmas story is my all time favorite. Im actually one of those guys that has that movie on 24 hours of Christmas story marathon. Lol
Yes, about the Ohio Rest Areas, I actually parked overnight in June, Probably at that same location. Loved that I could run my Rooftop A/C without having to run the Genny (my wife really needs that a/c). Plus having the dump station and water helps too. Wish every state had that. Nice Video!!
Awesome, Eric! I was just there, if you are still there, check out Little Italy, and watch out for the mass amount of large Bucks running through the city.
Eric we are David and Kim of Nowellsblessedadventures and was excited to see you were in Cleveland Ohio close to our home state of Columbus. Probably too late but would love to meet you for a bite to eat. We are in Columbus for a bit. Didn’t know how to private message you. We have bookmarked a lot of your places you talk about. Thanks for the great videos.
Eric, that isn't a bowling trophy on top of the radio. It has a booze dispenser and also shot glasses inside it. I have one. You just lift the top off. Yes, it was in the movie. Very cool! And, YES, best Christmas movie ever in my opinion.
Hi Eric. You need to go to Castle Noel. in Medina, Ohio it's about 30 miles south of Cleveland. They have the red slide from A Christmas Story. You can slide down it. Also they have Eddie's RV . They have a hose setup so you can dump the black tank.
I was curious about that rest area so I looked up RT 80 rest areas in Ohio and 8 of them have overnight RV parking like you saw. But I’ll bet they don’t get listed in any of the directories.
Amazing!!!! After watching this I had to watch the movie which I don’t normally do until December, so thank you for bringing Christmas early for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
#297 Your Choices of Video Sites, always amazes me. But never the less, you do such a great job, Eric, in your presentation. Thanks for showing us the House from Christmas Story. There is more to see in that area, also!
I’ve traveled to every state and Ohio is probably the most RV friendly state. Most of the rest areas have space set aside just like what you showed. I know they have them on I 90 for 15 or 20 a night it’s really awesome for when you are just passing through and need the hook ups.
Magnets are fun and you love them. Def figure out a way to keep them. This was really neat to see. Didn't know this was available. Temps have definitely dropped for you. What I love about the east coast, it doesn't take long and you could end up everywhere. Nice and surprising. SW VA welcomes you, but I'd hold off a bit because the incoming storm.
1. Christmas Story thennn 2. Elf because Christmas time I go on the Elf diet and stick to the elf 4 major food groups- candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup 😂👍
Love this so much! We have family in Cleveland and this is one of our go to spots when in Cleveland! Be careful or you'll shoot your eye out Ralphie! Awesome video!
Each time you fill up your stove top with magnets, take a photograph of them. Keep all the photos and display the photos on your cabinet doors. The photos of magnets will work just as well as the real thing because they still show all the places you've been.
One of our favorite memories when my kids were little is when we watched "A Christmas Story" together. It was the first time we saw the movie, and it was ROTFL at the restaurant scene. We still talk about it once in a while, and the kids are over 40. By far our favorite Christmas movie!

I think il watch it tonight, thanks eric
It is one movie I watch each and every Christmas season! Thanks for sharing.
Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story are our favorites as well. We never miss a year.
We also watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles every Thanksgiving.
Thanks for the tour!
Great video, Eric. Very enjoyable. But, the most enjoyable is seeing your reaction to things you really like!!
Dear Eric,
I hear your voice and Jax🐾 meow ALL DAY (Everyday) while my Husband binge watches your channel...... We live in our 1984 Itasca motorhome off hwy 101 in Oregon with our dog Bailey🐶
I hear your voice... More than my Husband Arthur L Smith Jr!!😲

Great to see you in Cleveland. Let us know when you're stopping by again!
Thanks for stopping in Cleveland and spending some money! Come back soon!
Yes! Can you do please The Santa Clause Locations.
WELCOME BACK TO CLEVELAND, ERIC AND JAX. GLAD TO HAVE YOU HERE. AWESOME VIDEO TOO.
I got the deluxe bluray a few years ago and it came with a string of mini leg lamp lights.
For the magnet collection, you can make a mass photograph of them. Then just stick the lightweight photo to a kitchen cabinet. I had to do that with Burger Chef restaurant memorabilia. I was born a few blocks from there... so you drove right past me while I was at work on lincoln way, now you are driving up and down the street where I was born.
Another great one.

"A Christmas Story" is the best Christmas movie & that is the best magnet! Happy travels.
One of the best Christmas movies ever made. Thanks for sharing Eric!

I'm glad you liked the Vacation movies Eric, I had a lot of fun making them all!
Haha! Too funny. You serious, Clark?

You could put them on a cork-board it wouldn’t be as heavy as magnets.
Husband LOVED your editing. That was really smart
My two favorite movies! thanks for the great tour!!
Great walk though!
Glad you started your magnet collection again.

I bought an original Red Ryder Rifle about 30 years ago. Not a copy. It was from a retired woman's estate. One of my dogs ate the leather straps.
Wow!! Soo much fun!! Soo much to see. Soo with it. Thanks for taking us along. Be safe, Be blessed 😉😀❤🇺🇸💙
Great video eric. Christmas story is my all time favorite. Im actually one of those guys that has that movie on 24 hours of Christmas story marathon. Lol

Super nice tour.. Eric you did a great job editing in the movie clips in relationship to the tour... !
Hello, were are you. Been 4 days since this video. Hope all is well.
That was a treat Eric. Thanks!
Great job of editing in clips of the movie with your tour! I haven’t seen the movie, but now I will.
That was great. Thank you Eric for sharing with us.👍
Thanks Eric, was a fun tour. Crazy how this movie has such a following. Don't you have a mini version of the lamp in your RV?
Your a kid at heart Thanks for your work.
Magnets are fun and you love them. Def figure out a way to keep them. This was really neat to see. Didn't know this was available. Temps have definitely dropped for you.
