Awesome video. I live in the Truitt house on Lagrange st. Right now. Am not sure how accurate these are, but I have a couple pieces of history paperwork. This paperwork says the house was “probably built in the 1840’s” tax records indicate it was built in the year 1840. I am interested where you read it was built in 1836 as the history is fascinating to me. The paperwork indicates this property was originally a 1080 acre plantation when the 1850 census was taken. There is still a barn/shack in the driveway that is stated was a stagecoach rest for Greenville. The building, although in poor condition now unfortunately, has characteristics of being an old stagecoach rest from the horse and buggy days. The paperwork states the house was built by a Mr. Hobbs Truitt, but was owned by a Nathan Truitt in the 1850 census. It is unclear if Hobbs was Nathan’s father, or if he was a family member that built the house for him as it is unstated. The interior of this house is still mostly wood floors, ceilings, walls. Constructed of heartwood pine. The front door and most interior doors are still very old, if not the original. Front door and most interior doors, and kitchen cabinets are held together by wooden pegs, with no nails. Love the video, keep it up. History is interesting!

We got most of our information from the Meriwether historical society. They have an app called the Greenville driving tour. Carol and I love history also. We have found many dates are not in stone they may vary from one website to another. I think you have a great home and I am glad you shared your information with us.Thanks for watching and we hope to get back on the road soon. Take care.

You got the 2 houses at the end of video reversed . The Terrell house is the one with green metal roof . 568 South Talbotton St. The 2 story home ( 566 South Talbotton) is the one that architect Henrietta Dozier designed . I am the owner of both residences . Wilson family only leased a brief period, they were never an owner .
