    I love BSL slang, very similar to multi channel signs.

    BSL is similar enough to ASL that I can mostly understand - cool!!

      it is???? i mean like watching people sign asl is a bit confusing altho there are some similar signs

    • @Gimpygladiator
      @Gimpygladiator 8 місяців тому +1

      Not ... entirely. ASL developed as a combination of French sign language, sprinkled with Hand Talk (indigenous) signs. ASL alphabet is one-handed, BSL requires two hands (how they spell things and hold a baby/laundry basket is a mystery 🤣)
      ASL where = BSL for "what"
      ASL where = Japanese Sign Language "what" + "location/place"
      Very few signs are similar, as cultural differences and references dating back to their (country's) cultural development caused many signs to divert in different directions. When ASL was in its infancy, men and women wore bonnets/hats, so they are reflected in those signs for those words, whereas BSL didn't emphasize the hats/bonnets as important cultural gender markers when it was developing, hence BSL signs for those words are emphasized differently.
      If you can understand BSL without captions, it's because some of the body language and lip movements help fill the gaps.

    The opening was so satisfying and lovely to see how it’s all BSL but people change it slightly kind of like accents

    Yes. I went profoundly deaf last year and trying to learn BSL as quickly as I can (luckily I can lip read from being hoh most my life) and the courses and apps and videos don’t teach slang, but I don’t want to be talking like I’ve just walked off a Shakespeare stage, I want to learn the slang too! Thank you for making these videos!

    For a sign language video I wasn't expecting such CRISP audio. You guys got an ASMR mic just to hear the breathing and and the cars in the background XD

      @@jennivamp5yes you do drive with your ears. For the same reason it's illegal to drive with head phones in. You can't hear if someone is honking, an ambulance, firetruck, police siren, trains ect. It's dangerous.

    • @TheKatarinaGiselle
      @TheKatarinaGiselle Рік тому +6

      @@frickfrack7075 no, but you can see lights with the mirrors.

    • @rainbow_T
      @rainbow_T Рік тому +5

      Deaf people drive the same as hearing people they get taught how to drive the same as hearing people do, they get told visually about what do do if a car is behind them etc. there is allot of information in bsl or any sign language visually showing what to do it’s how they pass their theory test. Deaf People are more aware than hearing so are very good at looking more, and they have mirrors which they use they can see if a ambulance was behind or if a car cuts Infront. They drive very well I know allot of deaf who are excellent drivers.

    • @jennivamp5
      @jennivamp5 Рік тому +5

      @@frickfrack7075 that's why emergency vehicles have flashing lights and railway crossings (and everything else) have signs. It's not dangerous to drive deaf, it is dangerous to drive distracted, which is why it's illegal (in some places) to drive with headphones on.

      Benny he signed “ I really don’t understand what your saying” so I think it might be a subtitles problem or a slang word to shorten the meaning of “ I don’t understand what your saying” since that is what he signed when the subtitles say that x
