When I cp3 swapped my 19 Ram you could most definitely hear a difference, the cp4 pump was extremely loud and almost like a rattling sound. The cp3 sounds smooth as butter and it seems to idle smoother as well. So when Einstein Mike says he thinks he can feel and hear a difference, I believe him.
Looks like silent mike has driven a few stakes in his day with his accuracy on the hammer

my fass fuel lift pump kept the CP4 alive on my lml duramax for 400k miles. Just did a Fleece performance CP3 conversion after finding metal flakes from the CP4 starting to fail. Thank you, Fass Fuel, for keeping my motor from grenading!!!

DCR is gunna kill the CP4. It’s gunna be a game changer. Now the 6.7 are gunne be one hella tow pig, daily driver, and so much more. Definitely a game changer. Get um at either S&S or perhaps through your local vendors such as Thoroughbred Diesel or other Diesel Part Sellers. Definitely can’t wait to get a 6.7 and completely change out that garage pump once I get the truck.

For the fan hub. Use an air hammer with a long flat chisel. Works every time even in rust belt trucks. Makes it so you can turn it off by hand

Next time consider replacing the CCV unit with a fully sealed ccv. Most of your 250-350 trucks had sealed ccv boxes, and those don’t have a filter element in them, they are simply baffled. Mikes truck with the internal filter are the trucks that clog and develop oil leaks. So it’s very common to swap to a fully sealed(no filter element) ccv box.
Or just do a CCV Reroute
Among the 10 million other problems.

Common Ford, time to redesign the diesel one more time and do an inline 6 this time. OR, just put a Cummins in it (the exclusion contract has been up for a bit now)
I agree a ford with an inline 6 especially if it were a Cummins would be a big win for me.
A ford with a cummins and allison trans has already been done, by a factory. They were called Sterling trucks and I think Sterling is under freightliner. I don't have a CP4 problem, since GM got rid of that crap way back in 2017. I would rather push my 2020 duramax than listen to the sound of a cummins and the stock duramax has great acceleration when empty where all the stock cummins trucks I have driven are dogs empty (they towed just fine). My friends say the fords are fun to drive and have great acceleration. I'm a Chevy guy and ride quality is critical to me (messed up neck and back) and many people say GM has a softer ride. My brother did have a pump fail in a 2019 duramax and it was $11k parts and labor, but covered under warranty. Luckily, it is not a common problem with the L5p duramax. It baffles me that Ford kept the CP4 pump.

I always find it easier to just take the fan mount with the fan all in one piece so you don’t have to crack that fan hub loose. It’s way easier and quicker.

So you don’t have to time the gear on the dcr?
Great question. They are installing a pre-release kit that has old instructions. We have since updated the instructions on all final release DCR kits with pump timing instructions. During the DCR validation testing for 2011-2019 model years, S&S did not find a benefit to timing the DCR pump to the engine. However, for 2020+ model years there is a small NVH benefit to timing the pump specifically when the ECM commands a certain rail pressure control mode at light engine load. For this reason, and to retain product commonality across the model years, S&S recommends to time the DCR on all model years according to the S&S installation instructions. A future change to the DCR pump (late 2023) will add a roll pin to the pump shaft at which point the timing process will match the CP4 timing procedure for all model years.

Step2, for large amount of gas on it, strike a match and run like hell 😂😂💥
Pulling the cab is a 6.0/6.4 thing. You don't have to pull the cab on a 6.7 for anything.
Step 3, buy a 2017 or later duramax since they were smart enough to ditch the CP4 pump. I absolutely love my 2020 Duramax but wish it had the bigger screen in the dash (dodge/ram was ahead in that department).

Why not just delete the ccv, I got it done to my brother’s 350 after it was smoking white clouds everywhere and it was embarrassing for such a new truck, but fixed the problem.

Just adding my .02 here, but since this is such a new kit, how do we know that this is a "permanent" solution? Its not really old enough to have any historical data on reliability yet.
That’s what I’m waiting for, at least a year before I do this.
DCR pumps have been used in Industrial applications for years, all S&S did was make a billet back housing for it to fit in the 6.7 PS valley. Also, if it were to fail, it's a contained unit, so it's physically impossible for it to contaminate the fuel system.

I’m not a big diesel guy but I don’t understand why Ford and dodge keep using these pumps when they new before they started using them that they were gonna be trouble.
Yep, GM ditched the CP4 in 2017, so 6 years of running a better pump and it seems to have a great track record so far, although my brothers 2019 duramax did have a pump fail and it was $11k covered by warranty. His is the only one I have heard of failing but it did send metal through the fuel system. I think they are called an HP4 now. Maybe a similar but more reliable design to the CP4.......I'm not sure.
Feel like that pump kinda pissed him off a bit.
