  • Scotts incredible redline collection is just something to admire. We caught up with Scott to find out how it all came about and the history with his collection.

Nice collection. I've got a 1979 Red line MX-ll with the original frame, fork, handlebars, pro neck and all three red line leather pads.

    Total flashback memory mate.
I worked at Redline Northridge and Redline Chatsworth back in 1976 to 1978.
Founders Linn Kastan and Mike Konle hired me originally to clean the bathrooms and swept the floor - after I prove myself Worthy I moved into the machine shop where we produce the product - additionally I would work in post-production decaling and packaging product.
after we moved to the Chatsworth location we started the development of the
    V - Bars, Pro-Line stem, fork and Pro-Line frame.
Today I live only a couple blocks from the original Redline factory in Northridge.
Good times BMXing in the early days here in Los Angeles.
Mongoose and Motomag was located around the corner in Chatsworth California.
Because the Pro-Line series products were sold out - field high school at Trackmaster racing ended up being a subcontractor for Redline - tube sets for frames, handlebars and stems would be shipped to Trackmaster - exact duplicate welding jigs were used to deliver consistent quality at the highest level.
There is a Redline owners Facebook - some of the lads were trying to reconcile the serial numbers - Linn Kastan was gracious enough to make copies of the serial number manifest of the first few hundred frames produced by - subsequently many current Redline owners were able to trace the heritage of where their frames were originally purchased from - the date the purchase was made and who purchased the product. These are some very interesting conversations on this Redline Facebook group.

Incredible collection, wish I kept my redline from 83. I remember worshiping Stopin Stu as a kid. Great memories thanks for posting.

Strangely, I have a 80 Redline, chrome and blue, with blue z-rims. Canada. Had it along time. Was offered 5k for it last year, and cried as I turned it down. Money is easy to get for some, but no amount of money will buy my Redline.
