@ gazzafloss: read your comment just a minute ago and couldn’t find a better word for these races. That is the reason that I love classic motorracing and have a brilliant day when watching😎👍🇩🇪
As an American Ford man I was going to act offended but instead I'll just say thank you for your service if the pic is you. Anyway yeah the mighty Minis are sweet.
I had one in the 1970s and regret buying up to something bigger. Minis drive like nothing else I’ve driven, corner like a roller skate, stop on a sixpence
Purchased a 73 mini recently and am restoring it. I can honestly say it's because of Swift and Goodwood that j fell in love with these little giants. I'm beyond excited to have it running and cannot wait to get it out on the road. One day I hope to take a shell and build a race version. There is nothing better.
Pascal Bocherel - Yup, Was a mad keen F1 fan as a kid, but fell out of love with the cars themselves when they went to the V6s, stuck with it a few seasons to see if the actual racing made up for it, but nope, it didn't. Don't think I've watched a race since Nico Rosberg retired - historic racing is definitely where the entertainment is at nowadays!
The best racing these days is at goodwood. No question. Truly awsome and interesting cars with very very enthusiastic drivers. Far better than modern F1 in terms of entertainment.
wow...I'm actually excited watching this...so much better than corporate racing. Its amazing...they are balls out in this...no holding back due to classic cars. in the US, the Stude, Barracuda, and Dart would have been SCCA and the Galaxie's would have been NASCAR, but its fun seeing them mix it up together with the British hot stuff
@BW MadDog [retired] Yes but they run in classes based on engine displacement in normal racing in Britain. So effectively while they will mix it with the big boys on the track as the need demands, they do not need to win against a car in another class.
There she goes to kill me chicken nugget, that’s what happens when your 427 ford has more ft pounds of torque than your jaguar weighs on the scale. Walkin the dog!
This is racing as I knew it in the late 1960s. I raced Minis, a Lotus Cortina and an MGB at various times. I recall racing against Jack Sears, me in the Cortina him in the monster Galaxie. I use the term "raced against" somewhat loosely. I noticed him ahead on the grid at the start then saw very little more of Jack! The racing was in classes though so no worries! Such fun and games, all for no money just for the sport!
@@Malibu1515 I may have misunderstood you. Rather than you saying this is Laguna Seca, you're saying the nearest U.S. equivalent is the Monterey Historics
I don't watch American auto racing anymore. since I found the Goodwood series and the Australian V8 Super car series. it's ten times more exciting than American auto racing. American drivers are wimps.
If you like small cars sliding around, Look for American Trans Am from the 70s, you’ll see chargers and what not sliding through the corners. I feel like the fair lanes here were driven conservatively..
You'sta own a '66Lotus Cortina, and had a Cooper Mini for awhile, but never had a Stude or a Galaxie. Because of its size, and weight, neither would be on my list, but that Stude really kicks butt. Bravo!!! Thanks for posting this... Nice camera placement and coverage from flag to flag!
So good to see the old Studebaker holding its own...if the Galaxies were not in the race, the Stude would stand a chance. Nicely set-up and prepped, a not too often seen car in racing... Period!!
Wow, the driving quality is impressive! Clean but plenty competitive. I'm enjoying this racing much more than nascar. The character of the cars and how the driver's use them is like the good ol' days. Love it!
What a crazy blend of machinery! Big old 7 liter galaxy, teeny little 1 liter mini, grandpas jag sedan…very very cool! That galaxy looks like it could cartop alot of those little cars…
Man this had me excited lol. Really cool to see the Galaxy barge getting thrown around. I laughed at seeing the building with bar written on the roof at 18:21
Bill shepherds tank is a wonderful piece of kit im sure it would be awesome to drive thank you for sharing this race with us. Cheers.👌💛😉👍💯💛AWESOME......
I absolutely love this kind of racing... you can forget the fancy, expensive, balls out speed and aero tech and give me this type of racing any day.... Genuinely brilliant to see big and small powerful and lower powered cars racing showing that a small cars can play with the big cars... and it's all about skill in driving what you have and knowing what you have... pushing to that cars abilities, real on the edge stuff just to keep the speed up.... As you can tell I love this racing.... I'm nearly 40 and right now I might as well be 5.... Sat here watching in full content and with a smile so big my face hurts.... Thank you goodwood and all that keep these amazing memories going so we can see them race..... It's takes some serious doing to make this sort of race happen and I wanna say thank you....
That's true racing... I used to drive racing Sims on my PC.. Had a rig whit paddles wheel Shifter a proper racing seat.. And my absolute Favorit Sim was GT Legends, I think it was from simbin. Like in the video u got the Galaxy, Cortina, Jaguars, Alfas, Minis... And I loved to drive the small cars and try to demolish the big engine cars.. By driving around them.. This was the best experience I had whit racing Sims by far, miss it so much!
Sooo glad that I EVENTUALLY, could see the 2nd heat of St Mary's Trophy; what a race....! Still don't understand why it wasn't broadcasted live, the previous Sunday😪
One of the first Ford Galaxies was basically a NASCAR car prepared by the legendary Holman and Moody. It was delivered to Jack Sears who had to have it set up to drive on circuits as in NASCAR trim it only turned left. Teething problems such as wheels disintergrating due to the massive power and torque were sorted and Jack went on to win the championship. He still owns the car but it is too valuable to race.
Best moment of the race. GO 👇
That Galaxies overtake at the end! This entire race had me on the edge of my seat! What an amazing run!
The #99 Galaxie overtaking the cars and Mini Coopers being great fighters despite being so small 😄
Anything that contains a beautiful little Mini
From 0:00 to 21:47 was great
12:38 The entire overtaking effort
21:04 overtake
This is proper racing and how it used to be when motor sport was fabulous, exciting and done with cars accessible to all.
👍

The Studebaker Brothers must be smiling down from heaven with this win.

Real motor racing, I could watch this for hours.

Better than F1 by a racing mile. Wildly different cars driven by gentlemen.
Pippi pip cheerio old bean.
After this all these Gentlemen cleaned, and locked up their cars and went down in to the village for pints of best and proper English Pub food.
Now these r race cars ❤️. No DRS, or that push to pass nonsense. Just driver skill at its best
Wow, Studebaker is awesome that fastest car that beat Ford Galaxy as well as best handling !!! Great. Thumb up.
