The African Greys are my favorite. I hand raised (syringe feedings to weaning) a beautiful Grey. What an amazing store. I grew up with a major Mitchell cockatoo she was my grandparents bird they bought in the 1950’s for $350 as a wild import. She loved me and I loved her she would cuddle up to me as if she was handled baby. When she passed away she was in her mid 50’s or older no telling how old she was when they bought her. I love your birds African grays have always been one of my favorites although I’ve never really owned a parrot just enjoyed friends birds and I thought I should start with something smaller like the sun conure.

Congrats on your 2 gorgeous babies. I hope they are doing well,it's a couple months since you put this video out.I read somewhere that someone doing a study on parrot communication in nature recorded parrots and realized while listening to the recording that they were singing or communicating using notes from Bach. No known human interaction ever. I found this fascinating. As a chronic illnesses patient animals is one of my escape places. I love the larger bird breeds especially though in real life Im very afraid of them.
Interesting video. In my country Sweden you hardly see any parrots in the stores since like 15 years back. If you want a parrot then you have to contact a breeder. It’s also illegal to handfeed baby parrots and to wing clip them. By law you need to have two of the same kind so they have a friend of their own and you need a cage that are very large…for a big macaw it is about the size of a room. In a pet store in my country you can usually be happy if you can even find 3-4 parrot toys…..the pet stores over here seem to think everyone just own a dog or a cat…..which isn’t the case…so it a huge difference between our countries.
This store is the best store i have seen so far. They do have a lot of babies in stock too. One thing i would like to mention these are not a toy and some can live up to 80 years. Thank you sir for show us around the store. You pick the right breed. Grey are better than amazon. Because amazon are little nippy especially breeding season. I do have 6 yellow nape. they are all 23+ since 3 months old. Sometime they still do damaged my skin too .🤣.
Thank you so much for the feedback! Im glad you enjoyed the tour. I agree that Parrots are not toys 😂, Ive been working with them for half of my life! Great to hear about your flock. What are you currently feeding them?
I have four parrots..2 amazons and two conures all purchased at Todd Marcus over several years! They are happy and healthy and so much fun! Really members of our family. Great store!
As a person not from the US I was almost shocked by the amount of containers (?) with the seed etc. mixes Nothing like “here’s your generic bird feed” And you seem like a guy who knows a lot about parrots, that’s really cool
Thanks for your comment! If you're referring to their custom mix, I can confirm that it doesn't contain any seed at all. It is a mix of pellets, nuts, and freeze dried fruit/veggies. I personally feed 65-70 percent pellets and the remaining 30-35 percent is veggies and nuts though.
@@Africangreyjournal Your channel just popped up on my feed as soon as I opened UA-cam. I’m glad it did. I just became a subscriber. 😊 I don’t own a bird but love watching bird videos. Especially African Greys and Amazons. They are so smart.
I sent you video over to Apollo and Frens so they could see you talk about the bird store. I’m interested in watching how two greys live together. This will be interesting and you will be busy but am excited for you!
I have 2 amazons. One Red-Lored and a Yellow-Naped. Love them. They are also prone to fatty liver as I lost my 37 year old Orange-Winged to it. She was wild caught and they didn't have the pellet blends available when I got her. The red macaw was a scarlet. The way you can tell is they have yellow on the upper part of their wings whereas green wings have green. Also, he has no small feathers on his face and the greenwing does. To tell if a parrot is a baby, they have dark eye which eventually lighten.
Green wing have cheek hairs or patches, scarlet cheeks are bald. Scarlet from Bolivia are predominantly yellow wings. The scarlet from Central ameria have less yellow in there wings.@@Africangreyjournal
I have a grey ringneck he’s cool but never ever has he let me touch him or get to close unless it’s too give him food he can’t live without my Quaker parrot tho he guards him and follows him everywhere my Quaker loves to be touched
Hi there, thanks for your video looks great. Just a few corrections, umbrella cockatoo's are not native to Australia they are native to Indonesia and are rare due to the Pet trade. Galah cockatoos are native to entire mainland of Australia, there is a western sub-species though. It is illegal to just shot Australian native wildlife without the correct government approval in most Aus states.
I was kicking myself while editing this video when I heard myself say Umbrellas were native to Australia lol. As for the Galahs, thank you for the knowledge. I really appreciate these corrections!
I have always wanted a parrot or similar bird but life got in the way and I was never able to have one, or two, lol. I know they require interaction and time and I just didn't have the time to give them, so I never got one. Now I'm a little too old, especially when you consider how long most of these birds can live, it wouldn't be fair to the birds. I just found your channel and since you are going to be producing videos with the progression of these young birds, I have liked and subscribed and am looking forward to following your journey, and the birds' journey. I guess I'll be living vicariously through you all for this one, lol. Congratulations on your new additions and as I follow this journey, I wish you the very best of luck. Best wishes.

Macaw dont wanna step up, macaw don haf to step up. Yes, thats a Greenwing. Well done tour. This store commits to a HUGE amount of work raising all those babies. Nice clean cages, with toys, high quality weaning food. But, whats their plan for socialising these birds. Excellent store, from 34 years parrot keeper. Have had 12 beautiful birds over that time.
Agreed! All human interaction is on the birds terms. Im glad you enjoyed the tour! They have a fantastic team there. From what I understand, they take time out before and after store hours for socialization and they also allow perspective buyers to interact with them.
They smell great! I don't burn them in the same room as them (ofc) but it feels great to light a candle without fear of harming the birds in the other room.

Wow, thanks for sharing! I had no idea. Your macaws are beautiful by the way.
Lots of love from India
Keep on posting, good work...
I really appreciate that. Thank you very much!
I got my red belly there! It's a great store!
That's awesome!!
I have four parrots..2 amazons and two conures all purchased at Todd Marcus over several years! They are happy and healthy and so much fun! Really members of our family. Great store!
Wow, that’s awesome! They have such a great team there. Which species of Amazons do you have?
@@Africangreyjournal double yellow and lilac crested…they’re both beautiful
@@TeachKathy Lovely!
As a person not from the US I was almost shocked by the amount of containers (?) with the seed etc. mixes
Nothing like “here’s your generic bird feed”
And you seem like a guy who knows a lot about parrots, that’s really cool
Thanks for your comment! If you're referring to their custom mix, I can confirm that it doesn't contain any seed at all. It is a mix of pellets, nuts, and freeze dried fruit/veggies. I personally feed 65-70 percent pellets and the remaining 30-35 percent is veggies and nuts though.
Wow the prices for those Birb! Jaw hits the ground.
The market has went crazy lol
8:21 are Caique - pronounced: Kai-keh. Great birds and yes, can be a handful!
Thank you!
Such a good video my friend ! Thank you for showing all the beautiful Australian birds, I’m sure you would enjoy a holiday here brother
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I can't wait to visit one day.
Damn dude such informative videos and yet you are so underrated, you deserve more subs!
Wow, I really appreciate that! Thank you for the support. Im working on the next video as we speak!
@@Africangreyjournal Your channel just popped up on my feed as soon as I opened UA-cam. I’m glad it did. I just became a subscriber. 😊 I don’t own a bird but love watching bird videos. Especially African Greys and Amazons. They are so smart.
@@kthom4595 Wow, thank you so much! Im so glad you enjoyed the video. I have alot more content on the way. I appreciate the support!
I sent you video over to Apollo and Frens so they could see you talk about the bird store. I’m interested in watching how two greys live together. This will be interesting and you will be busy but am excited for you!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it.
Thank you for sharing! I appreciate the advice.
Wow my favorite place.. ❤❤❤
Such a fantastic store!
11:14 thats a scarlet macaw, only they have yellow on their wings, unlike the greenwing. Greenwings are only red, blue and green👍
Thanks!
Green wing have cheek hairs or patches, scarlet cheeks are bald. Scarlet from Bolivia are predominantly yellow wings. The scarlet from Central ameria have less yellow in there wings.@@Africangreyjournal
Galahs are very common in eastern Australia too. As far as I understand they are protected…just had 5 in my front yard.
That's wonderful to hear!
Wow! That's awesome!
Thank you!
Love your video. You know your birds. Looking forward to the journey with the AG's.

Thank you so much, David! I really appreciate your support.
I want an Indian Ringneck so bad. They are the cutest little parrots ever.
Agreed! They are lovely birds with such unique personalities! They can be quite the challenge.
@@Africangreyjournal yes I heard they can act like a hole teenagers once they hit a certain age.
I have a grey ringneck he’s cool but never ever has he let me touch him or get to close unless it’s too give him food he can’t live without my Quaker parrot tho he guards him and follows him everywhere my Quaker loves to be touched
Fantastic video! Keep it up 👍
Thank you so much!! I'll be sure to keep the videos coming.
Thank you so much for your support!! It's clear that you have a deep love for birds so I'm glad that our channel can bring a piece of the parrot experience to you. I'll be sure to keep the videos flowing! My goal is to produce one every week.
I live in Australia I hear kookaburras quite often , there amazing ❤love all the birdies ❤also see a lot of pink and greys and those white cockatoos a lot :)
Wow, that is amazing! I hope to visit Australia one day.
Aussie watcher here, and just subbed to your channel. Will be following your content with great interest 😄
Thank you for your support! I look forward to visiting Australia one day. It has always been a dream of mine.
You've just got yourself a new subscriber. Great video!
Thank you so much!! 🙌
BIRD SAFE CANDLES!? I NEEEED THAAAAT 🤩
They smell great! I don't burn them in the same room as them (ofc) but it feels great to light a candle without fear of harming the birds in the other room.
i've had my African Grey for 5 years now and i never get bored with him in the house whether it be him acting like a dog or screaming in my ears when he's on my shoulder
That's amazing. Your Grey sounds like such a happy bird!
@@Africangreyjournal yea he is
I love that place
I got an African gray hybrid from there
Best place to shop
Agreed!!
I had 2 greys and 2 cockatiels. The greys can talk like crazy; they're entertaining. Enjoy!
Thank you so much! I heard the female (name pending) practicing a few words this week. I think she will be a pretty good talker.
Very good and extremely coherent content!!!
Thank you very much!!
Hello if you bought your African greys for breeding are you going to modify their cage and put a nest box when their old enough to mate?
I typically wouldn't expose them to a beatbox until they are sexually mature (3-5 years old)
So happy I found your channel. AGs are my favorite birds. I have a 2 year old who definitely has his own strong personality. Hates being handled but loves to chatter and carry on conversations with himself if he thinks I'm not paying attention.
Thank you for the support! Im so glad you are enjoying the channel. Your Grey sounds like an awesome bird. I love the fact that you allow him to be himself and keep interaction on his terms. He must be very happy with you.
