  • When I made my last video update about my new thoughts about Thrive Themes and Thrive Suite, I was not aware of a pretty important fact. Do you know what happens now if you cancel your Thrive Suite subscription? Hint: It's pretty bad.
    Unfortunately, Awesome Motive is killing Thrive Themes.

      I am sure you are incredibly disappointed! Your previous reviews on them were the reason I was even interested. I know you only recommend products based on what you think about them. You don't chase the affiliate money like others do. Years ago I took a course through Shane MeLaugh. Obviously, I'll never know, but I wonder what he thinks about the direction Thrive Suite has gone. @@BlogMarketingAcademy

    If you switch to a different theme, does that restore your editing access? From what I understand, Thrive Themes essentially locks editing once your license expires, which means you'll need to either renew your license or switch to an alternative theme. When I switched to a different theme, I didn't have any issues accessing my content. However, be aware that all the formatting and special features provided by Thrive will be lost, and you'll likely need to invest a significant amount of time to make your site look good again.

    • @BlogMarketingAcademy
      @BlogMarketingAcademy  2 місяці тому

      Yeah, that's the point. Obviously, you can access the content if you switch themes. But, then you'd have to basically reformat all of it. Thrive just ceases to work.

    I feel exactly the same. Everything that AM touches, turns into this money grabbing bs. They are basically the perfect example of why people say they hate marketers. Very distasteful.
    I've stopped recommending them even though I've been an affiliate for them since the beginning. Personally still have the old grandfathered license so that's still a great value as long as they honor it. But I might cancel anyway because I really dislike these practices.

    I remember for years the owner of Thrive Themes said he would NEVER hold a sale. His reasoning is that it wasn't fair to people who had paid the full price. So I was surprised when I went to their site yesterday and saw they were running a Black Friday sale. Guess the acquisition explains why things have changed.
    The BF pice ($204) for the full suite is tempting. I asked them about the renewal price and they told me renewals are at the full price but that I can cancel and repurchase during next years Black Friday sale. I wonder if they'll really let people do that.
    BTW, the issue you're describing regarding not being to edit the content once you stop paying is common in the page builder space. I know Elemontor is exactly the same and I wouldn't be surprised if others are as well.

    • @BlogMarketingAcademy

      Elementor has a free version, so I don't believe it would shut you down from editing. I've actually not seen a page builder do that before.

    Hi David, thanks for the video and agree with you Thrive Themes was awesome with Shane Melaugh. I have used it for every website I have built ever since I found out about Thrive. Anyway time to move on I am not sticking around either. One question though who are you using for squeeze/landing pages now. How good is Kadence at that or what do you use

    • @BlogMarketingAcademy
      @BlogMarketingAcademy  4 місяці тому +1

      You can build any kind of page you want with Kadence. You don't get a bunch of pre-designed templates for squeeze pages and stuff, but the platform is more than capable of building them. Same with man others, actually.

      Lots of options out there that don't cost $599. :) All depends on what you need it to do. I mean, most all page builders have testimonials and countdown timers. There are even creative ways to build your own testimonial capture system, using a forms plugin and a custom post type.

      I am addicted to Elementor Pro! You can start with their free one and then upgrade to Pro. Use almost any theme and then Elementor Pro will even allow you to build a theme. It has everything and I use Astra theme (free or pro) and then Elementor Pro and it's fabulous.... BTW, I have the old Thrive Leads and Architect... and it was great back in the day... never upgraded to Thrive Themes... but had already mostly quit using the other two loner plugins.

    Shane built an awesome company that I was eagerly proud recommending their suite of software, but boy oh boy, he destryed the it on his way out. What a tragedy!
    Shane wrote a blog post detailing that Thrive was acquired and how it was in safe hands. I disagreed and said so in my comment at the time. Sadly, I'm afraid to say that I was write.
    It wasn't to predict if you're a follower of the new parent company, Awesomemotive.

      Yeah. I'm not mad at Shane. I totally understand how an entrepreneur eventually needs to take an exit and move on.

I am canceling my subscription - and not because I just found out about him selling the company - rather because Thrive gradually began to suck. Full of bugs, non existing support, ridiculous pricing.. it all came down to a realisation "hmm.. can't believe I am gonna say it but, THRIVE SUCKS and I should cancel subscription". I liked Shane a lot (Thrive Themes co-founder), and I've liked Thrive Themes. Was an early user. Got locked into a $120/yr membership. But now that I'm trying to upgrade from an old Thrive theme (Focus) to Thrive Builder/Shapeshifter I was slapped in the face with a big problem that tech support is vague about -- how to transition more than 1,000 Thrive shortcodes I used to make more than 800 blog posts in Focus to Builder. It appears I'd have to do this manually, which is a non-starter. That said, I'd face the same issue if I moved from Thrive to something like Kadence. Very frustrated! Any suggestions, David?

    • @BlogMarketingAcademy

      @@BlogMarketingAcademy As you commented, I also don't like the way the company is now operating, even their emails are somehow unpleasant. The software has transitioned from what I originally liked which was the marketing features side of it, into a membership focused product plus I now use an all in one platform so those features are redundant anyway. Updates are lacking on what I use and the whole operation seems bent on reducing value. Even the affiliate program has changed significantly. Redesign due before my renewal happens.
