This is incredible, the songs are pretty good, the art is extremely well done, and the hp system is really cool, without obscuring too much screen space (and the chat messages are pretty funny)(Edit: the chat messages are pretty accurate to a TF2 text chat as well)(Edit 2: Mercenary from Open Fortress (real))
I might be baised as i main demoman, but, imo, his parts in this are the best, also the use of one of my favourite demo lines "dont fret boyo, ill be gentle" is just👌
As a Friday Night Funkin' fan, this is an amazing set of tracks and I'm excited for the full roster. I imagine at most, there will be two per character, if any number greater than 1 at all, considering the sheer number of characters. Speaking of which, that must be _hell_ when compared to other major mods, given the sheer number of things being changed. It's stylistically entirely different. I really love it. As a *Team Fortress 2* fan? The sounds used for the notes from the mercs seem rather incongruous with the fnf mod lineup, and coupled with my familiarity with their sounds causing some internal dissonance, I'd say that the music itself wasn't as good as it could have been. 11:12 is a really good example, as the higher pitched notes at the height of the song did wonders for the drunken Scottish cyclops. The Civilian, lacking the same amount of sancity, was also good- though not as good as the priorly-mentioned example. Messing with their voices further is a better approach in my opinion. The Mercenary... having two tracks in one in the form of an optional secret was a really nice touch, and his track was also good, being better than some of the other songs. I would normally say to add more character to his slightly generic series of grunts, but I wouldn't know how to go about it, in his... their case. I don't know too much about the Mercenary given how widely they're used and have had lore developed for, and I don't imagine much of that is canon. So, take the approach you want, but maybe give them some kind of flair with their array of weaponry, literally incorporating it into the music? They have a much less modest selection compared to the base classes in Valve's Team Fortress 2, I'll give them that much. Besides that, some more tf2-centric references in chat would be great, rather than just memes. Some obscure references you could probably work in, in general: -Ones about the TF2 clan's particularly SuN in it's heyday. Not sure exactly how popular it was in the grand scheme of things, but compared to it's current fragmented state it was a huge icon. -The secret achievement found in the PASS time gamemode from Merasmus. Speaking of which, some Merasmus content would be nice, too. And achievements. -Some old tf2 humor from UA-camrs like Jerma, Muselk, and FUNKe. I could make a list of it's own, here. -Modding community nonsense. Not even the full game mods, but the batshit crazy ones that we all know and love, which just modify base TF2. There's a toplisting one for Pyro that I don't even have to name, do I? -Exploits. Glitches. From the classic disguise kit animation glitch that birthed the Spycrab to literally just the Frontier Sentry exploit that allowed you to place a sentry outside of bounds next to the enemy spawn, effectively spawncamping them without quarter. No clue how that specifically could ever get worked in, but it's an example nonetheless. -This is an opportunity for some really weird, only vaguely canonized cameos. Does Sam and Max ring a bell? -GMOD, Source Filmmaker, the Replay tool; these all have a dear place in tf2's storied past, and the creations resultant from them are apparently iconic, even in this very demo. Team Fabulous was an excellent surprise, and I'm glad it was used. The song isn't half-bad, either. However, there is a wealth of material here, and Team Fabulous is merely the tip of the iceberg. A real big tip, mind you. But what else does that tell you, when it comes to the question of what lies beneath? Overall impression leaves me hyped. All that's left is to wait maybe... another 6 months, maybe twice that, for a fully-finished game. Yeah, that sounds about right. Any other longtime-fans of both games who share my opinions?
This is good so far! One thing, INFILTRATOR… It seems overly difficult for no reason. It having insta-killing notes, as well as disappearing notes, makes this super difficult. And it seems like a different person made the mechanics, and the charts. Scout’s bonk is barely a threat, then there is spies two mechanics. It’s a far cry from all other songs. And the charting, it’s far harder then Bonk, and Iron Bomber. But besides my nitpicks, the mod is great. Good songs, sprites, backgrounds, and everything in-between. I’m very much looking forward to it.
Compared to Scout, Spy’s blithering idiot son, Spy is taking BF and GF deadly seriously, so he’s using deadly force. (Considering that is RED Team’s final control point, meaning BF is attempting to Backcap it) It makes sense Infiltrator is a hard song. If Spy doesn’t go that hard, BF will cap the Control Point and Win.
It’s very hard for FNF mods to catch my interest unless they’re often remixes of the original songs. For this to have so much charm and detail has made it one of my favorites in a list that isn’t that large.
as i seen from the loadout option in the pause menu im guessing in the full version the mod will let you use various playable characters of use difrent items that give special boosts maybe customizations like changing the team color wearing a difrent hat or even an accessory and maybe playing as other characters like scout, soldier, heavy, spy, pyro, engineer, gf, civilian, saxton hale(maybe?) and demoman
Glad this mod isn’t cancelled and is being worked on waited so long for this I’m excited to see how the others are gonna look in their remastered sprites

I think it would be interesting if in "classics" , if the mercenary appeared to fight against you,he actually used the shotgun to damage your hp at least a bit(and you aren't able to dodge it) , i think it would make the song be more challenging but also more exciting, IMO

In context of the Full Mod Spy would be the last song of the 9 playable Mercs, so being the hardest makes sense
