This is awesome! We have wanted to canoe the moon river for years! We knew that there were waterfalls, so we had been putting it off. But watching this helps our confidence. We will definitely have a go next summer, but we will probably only do half for the first trip.
It really is remarkable and is still our favorite river! And there is a portage around every rapid and waterfall. We lost most of the footage to a corrupt sd card and plan on running it again in 2024! Thank you for watching!
The cross is still there! We visited it in the spring. I've paddled by that island at least 20 times over the years and this was the first time I saw it. I am going to run the river solo next spring, I will be sure to include it in the video. Thank you for watching.
@@robintheoutside I was looking for some history of the cross but can't seem to find anything. I use to live on the moon river when I was 14 15 years old now I'm 50 I used to canoe a lot down the choots fish of that island with the cross and all around that area it's a beautiful place
Camped in this spot as a camper at camp hilltop at the head of Gaunt Bay, in the 70's and 80's....we canoed there once a week. Etched in my heart

Awesome video
Thank you 🙂
I enjoyed that 👍🏻🛶
Finally getting around to watching these. What brand/style tent do you guys have there?
It's a Naturehike Opalus 3 we absolutely love it and as compact as it is, on Crown Land it can be tough to find a space to place it.
appears to be a freestanding tunnel tent.
Great video guys 👍 there's a lake near by in North wales, its (bala lake), I wonder if there's a connection 🤔
Thank you and as a matter of fact there is ... www.bala.muskoka-ontario.com/heritage.htm
It looks like the old memorial Cross is gone from the little island at the beginning of the chouts

@otis9909 that whole river is beautiful!! I'll do some research before I leave in the spring and make sure I include it in the video!
At the beginning of your video on the dock are you facing Kimberly island ?
@@otis9909 No, we were right at the falls in Bala. But I paddle by Kimberley Island quite a bit.
Where is the put for the dock at the beginning of video?
It's on River St in Bala. There's two different public docks that you can use.
