I'm a very fortunate person to own a DVD copy of this little gem. I saw it on a black and white TV when I was a child and I had a job once that overlapped into the circus world. It's a snapshot in time and the movie never gets old, like rereading a great book.🤩
Thank you for keeping this trailer posted and available for the world to see. _The Greatest Show On Earth_ has been my favorite movie ever since I first saw it when I was a youngster (over 70 years ago). 🙂🙂🙂 (Chase)
Back when I was around 3 years old my parents took me to see the Ringling Bros Circus at the Madison Square Garden where all the performers did exotic acrobatics and acting but now with the group gone it doesn’t feel the same anymore unfortunately.
This film is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's not very good, but it's so campy that I have a good time watching it. I also feel the same way with Tom Jones.
@@fleetadmiralperry5739 Honestly, I feel there's way worse movies that have won Best Picture. In my opinion, the worst one is The English Patient. Ugh, that was one of the worst movies I have ever seen ! Give The Greatest Show on Earth credit for this, even though it's a pointless movie, it at least has a good message about taking responsibility for your past crimes underneath all of its filler. The English Patient on the other hand, is a movie that expects you to feel sorry for an adulterer, because he's a burn victim and honestly I just can't get behind something like that.
i think they thought Demille was not going to be around to much longer and decided to give him the Oscar for this movie ....... he would live to make The Ten Commandments and then died in 1959
Crash ain't that bad either. Matt Dillon and Thandie Newton were great in that film. I think the worst films to win are the ones that get forgotten. Especially the recent spate of arthouse films hardly anyone saw.
Over 60 if we want to be accurate! I just saw it on tv 2 days ago… I feel really fortunate they decided to air it! The following day we had Singin’ In The Rain 😁
Did the movie deserve the best picture Oscar? No. Is the movie bad? Also no. I liked it. Solid 7/10. Takes me to a time when my aunts and uncles were little kids.
It's amazing how stiff and ham-handed this trailer is. But at least James Stewart (we call him 'Jimmy') realized his lifelong ambition to play Buttons the Clown 🤡

@@newfarmerfilmsbecause
love the little Cameo by Bob Hope and Big Crosby while watching Dorthy Lamor singing .....kind of a node to the Road movie they all made together
Anyone here from the steven Spielberg speech?

Love the footage of the clowns bc it’s rare to see them in full motion and makeup like this ❤
FUN FACT: This is the first movie Steven Spielberg recalls seeing.
EDIT (9/11/22): I have absolutely zero memory ever commenting this
I've read, it's one of his all time favorite movie and inspired to because the greatest directors

Blame liberals who killed all the circuses.
I love this movie!

Both films who won Academy award for best picture so I cannot blame you there

Thank you, Gracia's
I was born in 1983. I would absolutely have married Betty Hutton if she was my age.
Before movies like Crash and Shakespeare In Love, this was always listed as the worst film to ever win an Oscar. Ironically it’s not that bad

It’s on PlutoTV for free.
I have it great film 🎬 I also have ten commandments, Ben Hur
Look like different kind of trailer back there
Charleston Heston was in it?
Yes, Chris. He was the circus boss and you can see him introduced at 2:28 (clickable) in this trailer. 🙂 (Chase)
He's literally the main character, but it's an ensemble film so he's only given slightly more screentime than everyone else.
And James Stewart as s clown
3:59 - Can someone please tell me the actor's name? I understand something with Irving or Erwin but I can't find him in the cast on IMDB
Irvin Romig, great clown and horse artist
Thank you very much 🙂
I want to see more of Felix Adler.
Did the movie deserve the best picture Oscar? No.
Is the movie bad? Also no. I liked it. Solid 7/10. Takes me to a time when my aunts and uncles were little kids.
Cornel Wilde as an acrobat with a accent

The Worst Show On Earth
Solid entertainment
Doesn't really pay off very well, bozo. I recommend getting a job and being a spectator.
We should be allowed to like our own comments at least twice.
I have watched this movie and it stinks.
