The Turks do not forget the betrayal of the Arabs and the hostility of the British. The film is completely unreal and fake. The British do not know how to fight. They are afraid of fighting the Turks. You should also make a film about the defeat you suffered in Gallipoli.

There's been films about Gallipolli. What there haven't been enough films about is Napoleon's campaigns in Egypt and the levant how he routinely smashed Ottoman armies multiple times his size, away form home, in harsh environments and how the Turks got spanked by him time after time until the British came to save the Turks from Napoleon.Or maybe a film about the Crimean war about how the Turks begged Britain and Napoleon to come save them From Russia because turkish men are so effete they could not do it themselves. and when the turkish "men" tried to fight Russia in 1877 without Britian and France to save them, well we know how that went.

That scene at the end. In a jeep, leaving. His hat brim shadows his face and the window is smudged. The jeep passes the camel riders, Lawrence stands to look, and in the distance, a motorcycle speeds by. Driver says "going home." and lawrence doesn't answer. The enigma of his personaliy, who is he, where does he belong, still unanswered, and the telegraphing of his death. Just such a literate script.

Im half North african. The movie doesnt inspire me to go there. My interest in the Middle east has influenced my interest in Lawrence of Arabia. Its the opposite. I like the movie as its well made and because I allready have a passion for history, and the Middle east has been a place for a lot of ancient civilizations. Unfortunately, in Yemen, the palestinian territories, Iraq and in Syria, too much have been destroyed. But I would want to go to Jordan and visit Petra, the ancient Temple. . Jordan is a peaceful country. Its not all of the Middle east, and usually the travel guide can advice people Where not to go if you travel abroad. As a woman, I wouldnt travel alone anywhere in other countries, though, and the sexism and human rights violations can be a problem in plenty of groups. Chances are likely Id travel in groups

Eventhough I knew nothing of the story, i had missed it. My brother and father dismissed it as over reaching, boringly grasping nothing. I did not see the film unfold, but I was still intrigued and concluded they must be wrong. Watched Lawrence in full on vhs when I was 11 or 12, finally. At that time the restored double vhs was new, anyway... the ending sent chills.

If I am not learning any language skills I wish to learn perhaps it is long overdue I find and watch a film where writers and their characters still spoke like language was art.
From "My name is for my friends... And none of my friends is a murderer!" I got all the information I needed to know from that I am in the right place and this is exactly the movie I was looking to check out. I want to speak like this.

Astronomical Eclips in Warfare: July 05, 1917 Thomas Edward Lawrence aka "Lawrence of Arabia" used his knowledge of astronomical phenomena to carry out a daring night raid under the darkness of a total eclipse of the Moon. While the defenders were preoccupied by the Lunar eclipse, T.E. Lawrence and his troop of fifty Bedouin successfully pressed home their attack on the city of Aqaba - Jordan. No wonder why he became such an icon of leadership.

Two other warriors from the deserts of Iraq deserve movies of their own. The great Ajami Pasha who fought the British on the side of Turks in WW1 and Shiekh Sha'lan who started the 1920 revolt against the British.

Be advised, it's a little slow and doesn't have many battle scenes, and when the scenes do happen they're over quickly, but the thing that makes this movie so good is the epic scale of the production, and the incredible talent from all actors around, especially Peter O'Toole as Lawrence (which I'm still upset he lost an oscar to Gregory Peck).

0:11- You already told me about Jerry Lewis as a TV repair man in It's Just Money (1962).
0:17- That doesn't tell me much. Heinrich Himmler is ALSO in history books.
0:36- "Oh, guess we aren't friends then. Jeez, and we had coffee together."
2:16- (As narrator) Many people don't know, but he smoked Camel Lights."
2:34- (As Lawrence) Look, guys! No underpants!
3:12- (As Alec Guinness) The Turks will return, and in greater numbers.
