      Dead on. You catch the young and dumb first. THat doesn't take long. But the smart old once, they are hiding. And they will not go in a trap just becaue there is a bit of food pellets in that machine. They will litteraly think " That thing does not belong here, aint getting close that whatever it is". It will take several weeks to remove that settlement. And you have to find the break. How did they get in? Guaranteed there is a break in the sewage system somewhere.

    I'm afraid this is just going to be a bandaid and very temporary. She needs some traps that she can set up herself, like bucket traps with the flip tops. She needs someone to come in and help her declutter, but at the very least, someone to come and help her move things, clean beneath and around them, and wipe them down where they have been contaminated. Then she can partition off a room or two, and put down scents to deter rats from reentering those particular rooms. As she moves through the rooms, each can be searched for points of entry, and holes can be eliminated. She needs to begin closing doors to rooms. She can learn how to cut off the rat food supply, by feeding her animals so their food is never accessible to vermin, and securing garbage and groceries and water sources. Hiring someone to cut the bushes or growth around her house, and clearing away hiding places. Finding access points. This is NOT a healthy situation for her or for her pets, and rats carry serious disease, not to mention what the feces, urine , and dander can do to air quality. The fecal matter needs to GO. She seems like such a nice lady....just a bit cluttered and overwhelmed. Isn't there anyone who can help this woman in a way that is more lasting? I am afraid too, that her neighbors might be contributing to the problem, or else they are being affected by the infestation at her home. Maybe they could all work together to rid their homes of the issues.

      @@TwinHomeExperts I'm glad to hear it. I've watched some videos on different rat traps, and there are some very good fairly simple ones with buckets of water. I'm guessing this poor lady needs at least ten placed around, and she needs to be able to empty them herself. I can understand her mindset, and as she has lost family members and grown older, her belongings and memories, as well as her sense of autonomy and privacy, will tend to become all the more precious. It takes time for someone to let down her guard and see people as helpers and not judgmental invaders. You seem to do a good job in being so easygoing and showing her respect, as well as the time and attention you are willing to give. As she comes to realize that her situation might make her and her dear pets very ill, and that those possessions are only going to last if they are cared for, maybe she will come to trust you, and other potential friends. No one should be so alone.

    Yes, folks; this situation starts off as a human's home with rats living in it, and ends up as a rat home with a human living in it. And that very late stage of an infestation is sometimes when the rat-catcher is finally phoned to come and try to turn things around so that it becomes a human home again, rat-free. Catherine's situation is a fairly common one, especially for middle-age and older people who live alone: a human living in a rats' nest, inside a house.

    The Maggots are from the trap not being cleaned everyday or two. She needs to have someone go there every 2 or 3 days and check that trap because allowing it to sit till there is maggots is nasty and surprised that Enzyme stuff is not strong enough to kill maggots

    I have a theory, what if your counter actually wasn't the issue here? Two or even three rats could have went in there at the same time before one triggered the trap but only counting and one? If that's even how your trap works lol. Your videos are always awesome and exciting! Thank you for all the great content.

    I was wondering if there was a follow up video.This was depressing to watch those huge rats in the twin trap and also running around Catherine’s home.
    Having a hoarder mother myself I know it’s going to be a battle for anybody who tries to declutter that house. Just when you think you are getting through to them they start buying new items to fill the empty spaces.
    The local authorities need to be informed of her plight so appropriate action can be taken to help her. The problem isn’t going away as long as there are tons of places for them to hide.

      I have a grandmother that's a hoarder. It doesn't really set in for people unless they know a hoarder or watch documentaries without judgement. If you even DREAM of touching a hoarder's things to get rid of them, prepare for a meltdown/to be disowned🤷🏾‍♀️ Extensive therapy is needed (which they have to be receptive to in the first place for it to be effective) and for them to be a willing participant in the cleaning. Adult protective services if all else fails.
      Immediately throwing things out not only doesn't help, it may very well make their disorder worse. She seems like such a sweet lady. The trauma in her life (didn't she lose her son to violence?) has her in a chokehold and it's presenting itself in her home. I hope everything works out for her❤️

    • @pattskatoey3139

      @@Nikki_with_the_blikki you’ve explained the predicament very well.If you’ve never dealt with a hoarder you really don’t know how hard it is to get them to part with anything. It takes its toll on you.

    • @Nikki_with_the_blikki
      @Nikki_with_the_blikki Рік тому

      @@pattskatoey3139 it's not a fight that most people are prepared for. They come from a place of "you don't need it! Why can't we get rid of it?!" Frustration and anger isn't productive for anyone involved. I'm always saddened when people tear hoarders and their families to shreds online. It's not laziness or lack of love and care for a family member. It's a mental and emotional struggle for them. I wish people had more empathy 😞
