I never liked the others, for some reason. Beck was all right, but she wasn't that interesting to me; the same for Candace, Karen, Delilah, and Marianne. I definitely disliked Marianne the most, and I can't exactly explain why, but her character irked me. Oh, but Natalie was also one, albeit short-lived, I didn't care about her at all. Love, though, was probably the only love interest out of the rest of them that I enjoyed watching. However, since season four was released, Kate has become my favorite. Something about her, from what I saw in photos and clips to when the season came out, I don't know what it was, but she intrigued me and I can't wait to see more of her if there's a fifth season. I hope there isn't another love interest after her.
Despite Love being just as insane as Joe, she's still my favourite of his love interests to date. He finally met his match in her, only for HIM to be disgusted at her bloodthirsty actions. You are what you hate, indeed.
Why does everyone forget about Karen Minty??? He never really fell in love with her (but they did date and he did like her) which actually made it the most healthy and functioning relationship he had ever been in.
I think it's because he didn't love her, and I think the reason he didn't love her was because she didn't need him the same way he perceived the others to need him. This is also why Karen didn't end up dead. If this was about his relationships and not specifically love interests, Karen & Delilah would have been mentioned, possibly even Natalie. I hope we get a S5 and I hope Marienne offs him 😆
I liked Beck most. Beck was the love interest who was the most real, she was a regular woman with regular flaws, who caught the eye of a psychopath. She also had good chemistry with Joe and I think the writers allowed us to get to know her. Also, everything she says to Joe when she gets him in the cage is 100% truth.
Agree 1000% I can see how people think love was an interesting character as in matching joes energy, etc but for me Beck was more relatable in the sense of trying to discover who she was, growing that inner confidence she lacked, etc. I’m not gonna lie, in the first season I loved the idea of endgame for joe and beck but obviously that couldn’t happen, I just loved their on screen chemistry, it didn’t feel forced or cheesy. I also loved that she appeared as this basic girl when in reality there was so much more depth to her and I wish they would’ve carried her character a little longer, I feel she had so much to bring to the show.
She loved him up until she found out who he really was. The whole cheating thing was wrong but he made her feel like what she did was equivalent to what he did overall. It also took Beck to see joe with someone else(karen) to realize that she wanted to be with him the second round. In some way he did impact her because she was the first guy that actually loved her for real but she was also very unaware of what he was doing behind her back(stalking/killing/etc) When I said they had chemistry I meant that they were complete opposites and that’s why they flowed together. She was his ideal girl, someone that needed to be saved all the time from something.
@@qvxcswqr chemistry does not equal love, it means the characters connect and scenes seem very natural between them. That is all. Also, Love cheated on Joe, did they have no chemistry either?
I think Candace served the purpose of telling us a lot about joe. It wasn’t his first time with Beck and showed that it’s not about his love for a specific person but about an irrational obsession he can develop for just anyone.
Exactly. The whole point of the series was to show that Joe develops interest on any woman that is vulnerable and lonely. He's excited by new experiences and hunts women like preys. Once they're catched, he needs to find someone else. He lives for the catch, not for the feist.
Love is obviously iconic but I have a soft spot for Beck. I always did but it was solidified when I met Elizabeth Lail in NYC at my restaurant and she was so kind, and down to earth. We had a five minute long convo about Beck and feminism.
1. Love - she was crazy but such a great character and they had the best chemistry; and she was such a mirror to his personality and behavior 2. Beck - both had good chemistry, but she was such an awful character (not awful enough to be murdered obviously, but still awful) 3. Marienne - Nice character, but obviously cannot see these two together 4. Kate - she was the blandest character ever...cannot imagine how these two work
I think Love created the most intricate dynamic. Them being almost two sides of the same coin, but coming from completely different mindsets. Vastly opposing justifications for their actions, but with the same outcomes. Wanting change, but tethering each other to cruelty. To me though, Beck can't be beat.
Beck is my number one and I'd go as far as to say she is objectively the love interest with most genuine chemistry and connection with Joe. There is something very real and raw about season 1, it can be easy to get caught up in the craziness and theatrics of Love's seasons but if we take a second to evaluate who realistically made the best pairing, it was Beck. Their relationship was stable and thriving before Beck found the box in the ceiling, I believe had she never found the box she could still be alive. I won't say they would've lived happily ever after (because I believe this is impossible for Joe) But it's undeniable that Beck represents something we don't see enough in TV, reality. She was such a genuine and tragic character with very real flaws and realistic writing. Beck is a girl you know in your life right now, Love is a girl you see in movies or on the news lol. People are easy to point at Beck and call her boring but the truth is she isn't boring, she's just human. Also her poem at the end of season 1 is so beautiful, it completely encapsulates Beck as a character and explains her and her actions so well. She was a fragile girl who felt undeserving of love, insecure, struggling with trauma and loss. And what makes her the most real is the fact that Joe, an evil psychopath, found her and preyed on her, a scary parallel to how naive and insecure girls are preyed on by narcissistic and abusive personalities. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk about why Beck is the best!
I completely agree! Beck’s poem about how her life was all about feeling helpless and unprotected and objectified by men and how she always blamed herself and was blamed by others and became a victim because she didn’t trust her instincts but her blind desire to be accepted and supported and loved deeply resonated with me and to this day it still moves me. She’s one of my favorite female characters on TV.
Love Quinn really is that girl! The only girl who could’ve match w/ Joe. Sad thing that she was killed 😭 she was also my fave love interest because of how complex her character is and on how good Victoria Pedretti portrayed her.
I actually really like Candace and her storyline. She ultimately wanted revenge on Joe but also wanted to save other women from the same outcome she had with Joe. I feel bad that she survived Joe only to then be murdered by Love. Beck wanst that likeable as a girlfriend lol. I did like her overall and her cage scene performance was superb acting. I so DONT care abt/like Kate. I like Marienne a lot and I Loved Delilah so much, even though she's not listed as a love interest, they did sleep together and have a certain dynamic I liked between them. Love,of course is the best. I liked Karen ,the lady he dated after Beck. It was a brief dating moment but she was a nice person, I'm glad Joe didn't fixate on her and little did she know, well maybe she did know, tht him dumping her was actually a blessing 😂
Poor Candace 😢. What a horrible fate for a potential good character if she would of lived she could of been more fleshed out and have a seasonal rivalry and we could of slowly routed for her when we start to Joe evil side. I get season 2 twist with Love and meet your match but I just think it a big shame Candace could of been a really big character. I hope her body comes up poor Candace just wanted to get justice for Beck while Beck tried to look for her. She wanted justice after what happens with most victim the police screwed her over and didn’t help so she wanted justice for Beck who didn’t escape. I would of loved for Candace to of get justice for Beck and it would of tied the whole series together with Joe first victim getting justice and killing it getting him in prison. Plus the fact in the book candace died it was very interesting to see this change but it didn’t go anywhere if they changed they should of gone full out with it.
@@2tears35 rip I rlly hope in season 5 her body and the person she said she was sending information to comes up it never come up unless she lied about her contact
Beck and Love are loved because they added to the central elements of the show (with Beck: naivete ; Love: mutual evil) That is probably why Kate falls down in my list by a lot, yes also below Marienne(but not Candace lol)
I'll forever say that Love was the true successor to Joe as protagonist. Joe lost his touch throughout S2 & 3 - kinda waffling & failing at most of his adventures.
I finished S3 and said to my husband "Love should have killed Joe and taken the mantle." Maybe needed another season to get there, but it really felt like she should be the protagonist moving forward.
I have to say I prefer Beck over all. She was a young, loveable woman but in her heart, she was such a mess. And that was so interesting to watch. Season 1 and Beck is my number 1
Mines slightly different - I’d put Marianne second because she was a genuinely good and beautiful soul and that’s what attracted him to her, it wasn’t just “Hello you” and boom obsession. He desperately wanted to be good, and so in being with her he thought he could be, plus it felt very grown up, maybe thats because they were both parents. I just feel like together they felt more real and had more depth than Beck and Joe. And I really don’t think Candace should be included in the list, we never got to see them together to really know what they were like together, all we got were flashbacks of what went wrong.
Yuuppp Joe was on his way to redemption with Marienne genuine and soft energy, but he went an inch in and turned around and took 100000 steps backwards.
I think I have to go with the og beck. Just seemed like a very real story of how this situation would actually play out and great character development. Plus other characters being chill with him being a sk is wild to me
Yessss. I was soooo sad when she died. Maybe if Love would’ve been introduced to first I would’ve liked her more but I was really stuck on Beck dying that it took me watching Season 2 & 3 over again to grow on Love. Idk, I think I really liked the story line & characters on season 1.
Both of her "the haunting" series are awesome. You should check those. I'm obsessed with her also.. I'm hoping to see her in the big screen and win awards in the future..
I did find Candace annoying when I was distracted by Joe's "efforts to be good" with Love, but then when they went on that retreat and she had traumatizing flashbacks of him burying her, I started to feel really bad for her and understood why she was the way she was in the show. It was terrible she had to hug Joe even though he was the one that tried to kill her, clearly her abuser.
Such a shame they killed her off I would of loved for her to get revenge and justice for Beck. Such a shame how Beck and Candace both tried to help on another when it was too late, people give her to much hate she’s very heroic to try and save Love when she found out Beck died or did she just want revenge both are complex motives. She got no one no family I would of loved for her to get developed more throughout the series and as we warmed to her and start to dislike Joe to see her kill him would of been satisfying and wrap it all up Joe first ex from season 1 developing her relationship and past along with her PTSD would of made a strong character.
@@TheChannelJ1She cheated on regular basis to a person with traumatizing past and abandonment issues. Which prompted him to make his first legitimate kill(He was a kid when he murdered his abusive father).Probably setting him to be the person he became in later life. We are all product of our surroundings and circumstances. Joe becoming a psychopath is obviously his choice, but amongst the things that lead to the person he become,Candace certainly is amongst them.
i kinda like her, but the problem is the writers didn't know what to do with her character especially in part 2. In part 1 there was at least some back and forth relations with her and Joe, part 2 they are just having a sweet love and this dynamic was boring and their chemistry was off, as well as her conflict with dad was sooo dragged on and repetitive
I agree that Love was the best but I feel like there was more genuine chemistry between Beck and Joe out of all of them. You could tell he was head over heels for her.
Joe has had five love interests, a relationship, and 1.5 fwb / hookups(the half being the neighbor in season 3) in a (canonical) 2-3-4 year span. Boy gets passed around more than a blunt.
@@GranZaddy I was thinking that too because he’s a grown up a bit since the first season so surely the thought of knowing an innocent women was murdered is gonna weigh on him a bit
@@zahinnieeHe was on the store when Joe killed Beck. Beck made a run for the stairs but found the basement locked too. She see Paco just other side of the door and begged for him to let her out. Paco didn’t do it out of loyalty for Joe.
As much as I have my qualms with season 3, Love Quinn was absolutely amazing. Victoria killed it! I think I pretty much agree with this ranking. Honestly I wonder if Season 4 would've worked better if Love wasn't revealed to be insane in Season 3. If they wrote Love Quinn more like her book counterpart, I wonder if Kate admitting to doing "horrible things" would've felt more connected to Joe from our perspective. Who knows. There obviously would be a lot more factors influencing this but I don't hate Season 4... it felt like Joe wasn't Joe anymore but I kind of enjoyed it? Mixed feelings
I think Love is the most interesting and by far love her dynamic with Joe the most. But Beck felt very real, and her death really stayed with me the most.
5.Candace:Obviously,they didn’t have to have much chemistry at all,I think the only redeeming thing about Candace is how she was effecting Joe when he thought he died and she seemed like a missed opportunity with the return,Think the writers mindset before they finished season 2 they thought it would end at 2 which thank god it didn’t 4.Kate:Kate and Joe do have Chemistry, she’s very challenging in the beginning but then we realize that Joe not only loves her but he does need her,I think she’ll grow on my way more in 5 but the uphill trajectory worked really well in part 2,depending on what happened next season this could move up 3.Marriene:Marriene is a very deep character this is the first Love and maybe only love interest who really related to Joe’s childhood, she really Cared about Joe and he was willing to risk anything for her, which Joe usually does,it was hard for her to except who joe really is because she really loved him and the performance she gives in part 2 remarkable, she was the only love interest to outsmart Joe 2.Love:Ik ik this was hard decision tho,Love was Joe’s Soulmate, she Understood him and Excepted him for what Joe was, they had a child together, but only because she’s Worse and more inpulsive,Rewatch 1 and your see many similarities in Love and that version of Joe,Just because someone is your soulmate doesn’t mean that there the love of your life,Joe got what he wanted in 4 Someone who excepted him but also someone who isn’t capable of the same things he is.I love Love Quinn Tho her emotions and her acting from Victoria is phenomenal and Joe and Love really made 3 amazing 1.Beck:Beck in my mind is Everything that Joe wants but is someone he can never have,Joe was a attracted to Beck for many reasons,The main reason is because he felt like he could save her and give her a great life,Beck had never met anyone like Joe before she figured out who he was Beck thought Joe was the Best thing that ever happened to her, while at the same time being the worst thing,The only was She could ever be with Joe is if She excepts both parts of Him,Joe was so sad after he killed her he saw many visions of her and was Guilty when he dreamt about her in part 2
Part of me only counts his infatuations/obsessions/limerances (Of which we as the audience see SIX, not five, throughout the series) but if we are going whole hog, I will include everyone. People are wanting to include Karen Minty and "love interests" that Joe had sexual contact with so I will include them. 1) Love - Do I need to say more? Give me Victoria Pedretti every day. 2) Candace - I love redheads, SHE is the OG, she had chutzpah, I love the way she treated Joe and carried herself 3) Delilah - Gorgeous, great heart, loved her and her sister, loved her Metoo vendetta, etc. 4) Marienne - What's not to love? She's got beauty, talent, heart, brains, would do anything for her daughter, successfully slayed every dragon for her daughter, even herself (addiction) and has a good head on her shoulders. 5) Karen Minty - She is a good person and ended up having good instincts but something rubbed me the wrong way about her. Sorry. 6) Natalie - Forgot about her, didn't you? He was infatuated with her so she shouldn't slip through. I hate her less than Beck and Kate, that's it. Her husband was hot. 7) Beck - She was a good choice as the love interest to start of the series with, but she is the most basic, bland, vanilla thot in the whole show. And notice I put her UNDER Natalie with that description. 8) Kate - I have nothing positive to say. Not even watchable.
I don't know if I agree with calling Beck a thot, but I see your point. To me she had the best chemistry with Joe, and her being the love interest at the start of the series meant that she was going to be lukewarm. She needed to be a canvas for the viewers and to show that Joe tends to pedestalize the most basic person bc his mind is such a mess.
Oh my I agree with your list sooo freakin much. Beck was such a whore had a different dick everyday of the week. Ugh she made me cringe. I feel his true love was LOVE but I like him with Katherine
This is my personal ranking, but it's more based off of their individuality/personality than their relationship with Joe. 1. Love - She felt like his equal and her story was just as important as his. 2. Marienne - Has a tough background but still remains to be a really sweet and genuine person. Honestly I found her strength admirable. She's underrated in my opinion. 3. Kate - I like that she doesn't take shit from others. She was a little bland, but I appreciate that the writers gave her a backbone. Otherwise she wouldn't feel like she offers much to the show. 4. Beck - Might as well name her Emily. With the writing, bad friends, and feeling lost in the world, it feels like I've seen this character in other fonts before. I liked her better in the novel, because she wasn't as naive there. 5. Candace - Found her really annoying and unlikeable. Idk why. I just did.
I don’t know why nobody seems to like Candace, I found her funny and also very brave ! Apart from Love, she was the one who confronted Joe the most, she was always provoking him, it was very fun to watch
For me it would be: 1. Love - The best for him 2. Beck 3+4. Candace and Marianne - can't choose because I love Candace running for her life and shouting to the world how bad he is but also Marianne who quite literally didn't deserve to even meet him and got saved in the end 5. Kate - I like her as an individual but the chemistry isn't there imo
I definitely would put beck as 1. Her love interest was so interesting and unmatched plus she was also kind of imperfect and annoying the way real people are not “perfect” the way kate and marriane are portrayed
See I think Kate should be a little higher and she may be in the next season. I understand why everyone is hesitant on her but I’m starting to see that she may also be Joe’s match in a way. Love was EXACTLY like Joe: obsessive, controlling, manipulative and impulsive. Kate showed a little bit of those traits at the end, but unlike Love, she isn’t impulsive (as far as I seen). Does this mean I hate Love? absolutely not. she’s my favorite as well because I liked the idea of Joe meeting his exact match. It kind of made me think “Welp, you wanted someone who accepted you, flaws and all, and that comes with a price…careful what you wish for Joe.” Victoria did so amazing in the role and I cannot wait to see her in more roles.
I almost cried at the part Joe burned his goodbye note to Beck, showing a flashback of her smiling and walking away. Wish she could've stayed in his mind a bit longer than that.
idk what crack the writers were on in season 3 but those love interests were top tier. even the villains and side characters were interesting. My ranking would go 1. Love 2. Marianne 3. Beck 4. That random lady who got killed in the first part of season 3 5. That other random lady in season 1 6. Kate
I think most of us agreed that Kate is a horrible love interest for Joe. However, look at it like this. he’s the bad guy now. he’s a killer just like Kate’s dad not only a killer, a wealthy, one, as a matter of fact. he can get away with anything now, and all he hast to do is to pretend to love her just so he can protect himself. Basically what I’m trying to say is I think he’s using Kate for money and as a rebound and his other relationships.
1. Love: She made me question her often because I wondered if it was really her past that made her who she was, Stockholm syndrome/ a fear of Joe, or she has that I can fix him mentality. I was most curious about Love. 2. Marianne: There was more to her, and her reason to survive Joe pulled at my heart. 3. Kate: She’s giving a bit of Love energy where she’s accepting of who Joe is because of their own past. But I also feel like she’s become exactly what her father was so I want to see if she takes up with Marianne, the student, and the sister from season 2 to kill Joe 4. Beck: She just seemed so airy and boring, but I definitely didn’t want her to die either.
Beck is considered boring because she is the most relatable one out of all love interests. We all have a Beck in our friend circle, she‘s the most authentic character and that‘s why people find her bland and boring.
My ranking: 1. Kate: controversial but she is the only person Joe didn’t experience erotomania with. Kate is the only person he didn’t stalk at first. Plus, she accepts him for who he is and most importantly he accepts her dark side. I think Kate is also hiding a much darker side than is portrayed in S4. Bring on S5! 2. Love: My favourite character, however I rank her second as a LI, because although she loves Joe for exactly who he is, it is not reciprocated. Plus, he kills her. 3. Marienne: I love her as a character and I think she has the best personality out of the remaining LIs. They also have a lot in common. But she isn’t a match for Joe because she’s not cool with the killing. 😂 4. Beck: I don’t dislike Beck but as Joe said himself, she was very young/immature and the initial obsession Joe had with her was the strongest. She was a great 3D character though. 5. Candace: She was just blah to me and I don’t remember a lot of her storyline. Just didn’t leave an impact for me.
I like Love the most. She was almost like a twist villain done well. We didn’t always know what she would do because of her impulsivity. When Joe started cheating, we were afraid for him. It felt like Joe really met his match, so yeah ❤
Love Quinn is such a Female Rage icon tho. She doesn't kick as much ass as Dolores Abernathy. She's not as savvy a criminal as Kim Wexler. But she was real, damnit! She got to live out the delusional "doing awful things to protect my family" character arc that is usually only reserved for older men, but Season 3 never made it feel like she was delusional _because_ she was a woman. Love Quinn asked "Is domestic bliss really too much to want?" and the universe answered with a resounding "YES".
I think what makes it so interesting on our feelings with the love interests is that we mainly experience them through Joe's POV and his experiences. And the fact that people hate them more than Joe, an actual serial killer and stalker. If Joe had met himself (like Love) he would even think they were a psychopath and kill them
This is too subjective tho, cause it’s all about who your fave is. I’d rank them based on how good/evil they are So going from most evil to least I’d say: 5. Love 4. Possibly kate? 3. Beck (cause she did cheat a lot and got in the way of Joe’s relationship) 2. Candace 1. Marianne Marianne is also just my favorite cause she preserved and survived!
Agree with your list! I think Kate could get better especially since we still don't know her full past. To me Love is definitely Joes best love interest. Outstanding performance from Victoria Pedretti. The way Joe fell in love with her while unknowingly meeting his female match. Joe realizing how horrible Love was & being disgusted by it. They were soul mates.
Kate is in general my favorite character (even when I like Marienne too a lot). Not because of Joe, but because i like strong, sarcastic, desilliosionised woman. Because yet they are so vulnerable.
In my opinion I noticed Kate and Joe are very compatible. I don’t like the character either but with the way she is and has been, especially the reference her dad made about dogs, and what Roald told her it makes sense why she would have an interest in Joe and him as well. It’s kinda both what they were looking for so who knows we’ll see how things turn out in the next seasons.
My ranking (you left some people out): 1. Delilah-insane chemistry and they established friendship first. This is petty on my part but she was the hottest too. Too short lived of course. (Thanks Love). 2. Marriane-She got away, so she gets points for that. 3. Beck-Well acted and her character was well developed. She had a kind soul but could be challenging to date with her immaturity and less than faithful tendencies. 4. Karen-Had her shit together more than anyone he dated, so of course he lost interest, but she was the best long term material out of the bunch. 4. Love-Best acting of anyone on the list. Could be sweet and nice and a stone cold killer within the same episode. 5. Kate-Hopefully her character will be developed a bit more in season 5, she has potential but she can be a stone cold rich B at times. 6. Candace-Had permanent resting bitch face. It didn't seem like she cared for Joe at any point they showed her on screen, even when they were dating.
I just want to point out: The only 2 women that have dated Joe and lived were Black women. I don't know if that was intentional... but man it's interesting 😅
What I like most about beck is she’s the introduction character, which when you watch the rest of the seasons she’s the character that introduces us to Joe (the main character) as a character. Because she’s such a realistic female that we feel her betrayal, we buy her kindness, when they have makeup smex we want that too. She was good for her placing.
This dude had so many love interests from Candace to Beck, Karen, Love, Delilah, Marienne to Kate, seriously i can’t. Natalie and Sherry were also included, in a way.
Something I found off putting with Kate is that she just seemed much older than everyone around her. Love, Beck, and Joe were obviously mid 20s and with time you can say Joe is almost 30, but Kate seemed mid 30s especially around her friends. When she was around her dad it looked like a husband and wife, not a father and daughter because he looked aged down. I also don't think there was much attraction between the two actors like there was with the other actress's. As an individual character, she was enjoyable, but it's not a compelling love story.
Both Love and Beck are so legendary it’s hard to imagine anyone else in their place. But I have a soft spot for Karen and Candice as well in that retrospect. Karen was the only woman with whom Joe came as close as having a normal relationship. And Candace is the first woman who actually told us what Joe actually is. Probably contributed in his sickness with her cheating and betrayal as well.Wish she told that to Beck instead of Love.
I thought I was the only person who thought Kate was very bland. She's worse than Candice in my opinion because Candice didn't get enough screentime to be interesting, and Kate had an entire season as Joe's love interest, and still gave us nothing. She also was the deus ex machina at the end of the show, and really saved Joe from his fate. It really should've ended there, with him in prison and all his lies exposed. Overall, it wasn't as fun or quotable. I really wish Season 4 didn't take place in the UK, I miss the days of mocking LA culture and New York snobs. It's a shame really.
You forgot Natalie, and she shows everything we need to know about Joe - He doesn't even like the girls he's obsessed with, he just likes the chasing. When there's nothing more to chase, he loses interest.
I just recently got into the show and have binge watched all the episodes. Like everyone else who enjoyed the show, I eagerly await the final season. And I have to agree that Kate’s character is standoffish and very condescending. She’s also very controlling and most likely doesn’t see her and Joe as equals in the relationship. However, so far she has been loyal to Joe, unlike Beck and Love. I read that there is going to be yet another love interest in the last season who is attractive and with whom joe shares a common love of literature much like Beck. It wouldn’t surprise me if this would cause Joe stray away from Kate and cheat on her because once again Joe thinks that he truly has found “the one.”
I can't get over Love, crazier things have been seen on screen than saving herself from a burning house. Also, Joe did put paralysis on Love, I assume high enough to stop her heart but idk, I can't assume she's dead
I never liked Love. I do not understand why everyone favors her. & honestly, Kate gets far too much hate. I’d prolly be standoffish to the stalker/murderer living next door too
For me, it's Love as the number one. Yes, she was just a insane as Joe (if not more), but she is a sweetheart otherwise. Delilah gets an honorable mention. It was a one night stand, She was PRESSURE 🔥
TBH they fucked up writing beck’s character she was genuinely interesting character but making her unfaithful and pushing joe away to fuck her therapist was a bad move, tho i understand why writer did that, cause they wanted us not to feel bad about her murder to have some justification and remorse for joe which is fucked up i loved beck.
Love was the most interesting and well-written by far. Beck was a good person, with regular flaws, but the actress's flirting was so bad. Who talks with their mouth hanging open all the time? Also, she was an easy target, considering how naive and trusting she was. She seemed like a bimbo, even if it was unintended.
Nobody is topping off love, but I do think that Kate should be higher on this list. If were talking about potential compatibility between love interests, then it has to be 1. Love, 2. Kate, 3/4/5 tied candace, guin, mari since they all pretty much 180'd by either running away or getting killed.
Marienne was my favourite. She was really sweet towards Joe and Charlotte. I also love how she showed kindness to Love. I love her and I hope she will remain happy in season 5
I absolutely agree with your list 1. Love : no explanation needed. An icon, his true match 2. Beck : didn’t really care for her much but she was more likeable than Kate and less boring than Marianne 3. Marianne: she was a bit boring in season 3 but season 4 made her better 4. Kate: I just never got into her as character. Mainly because like u said, her personality. She was very unlikeable. They just didn’t work 5. Candace: didn’t care about her Karen: boring
Beck is definitely bottom, she's one of the most unlikable characters that the show despite that fact that the intention was clearly to make he 'cool' and 'relatable'
I would put Kate on a second place, she's not relatable, cute and likeable like the rest, she has dark background and her only friends being shitty as well call her the worst of them, she immediately understood that Joe is suspicious, asked him if he was a killer before he knew it himself and didn't want to interact with him like every other girl in the series. She sees through him and they can be honest to each other, trying to stay on a good path (but probably both would fall for bad). I think they may become more interesting duo in the next season. Considering most of Joes relationships were this cat-mouse type: Love became the first iconic cat-cat and we just don't know what type of cat Kate would turn out yet.
Who is your favourite love interest of Joe Golberg's in YOU? Comment yours below!
Definitely Love, though I have a soft spot for Marianne. She definitely deserves better!
Yeaaa yepppp Beck , Beck And Beck 😍
It was Beck for me. I was COMPLETELY enchanted by her and I'm very pleased that she was rated very highly on this list!
As much as I found myself liking all of his interests, I cannot say until we see how off the rails season 5 goes. Lol

Well put!

He’s seriously the best character the show has had yet
Him and joes chemistry and bickering is the best part of season 4

It felt a bit Sherlock/Moriarty which was fun
Why does everyone forget about Karen Minty???
He never really fell in love with her (but they did date and he did like her) which actually made it the most healthy and functioning relationship he had ever been in.
I think it's because he didn't love her, and I think the reason he didn't love her was because she didn't need him the same way he perceived the others to need him. This is also why Karen didn't end up dead. If this was about his relationships and not specifically love interests, Karen & Delilah would have been mentioned, possibly even Natalie. I hope we get a S5 and I hope Marienne offs him 😆
@@shoutingfactory3694 i hope he offs marienne
Also his affair with Natalie!
Karen was more of a rebound and a distraction from Beck so…But I did like her as she seemed very healthy compared to Joe and Beck lol
I came here to comment this exact thing! Karen is still out in the world somewhere thanking her lucky stars they ran into beck that night lol
That’s fair!
Agreed. She's hands down my number one
Agree 1000%
I can see how people think love was an interesting character as in matching joes energy, etc but for me Beck was more relatable in the sense of trying to discover who she was, growing that inner confidence she lacked, etc.
In some way he did impact her because she was the first guy that actually loved her for real but she was also very unaware of what he was doing behind her back(stalking/killing/etc)
When I said they had chemistry I meant that they were complete opposites and that’s why they flowed together.
We had a five minute long convo about Beck and feminism.
what? that is so cool. She seems like a nice person and I love her voice so much

Omg that's awesome! I love Beck too

1. Love - she was crazy but such a great character and they had the best chemistry; and she was such a mirror to his personality and behavior
2. Beck - both had good chemistry, but she was such an awful character (not awful enough to be murdered obviously, but still awful)
3. Marienne - Nice character, but obviously cannot see these two together
4. Kate - she was the blandest character ever...cannot imagine how these two work
personally i found beck the blandest character of them all lol
Yea I really don’t feel the chemistry with Kate
Beck and Kate are my least favorite I have no idea why he liked her in the first place
I agree with your synopsis
Where’s Candace?
I think Love created the most intricate dynamic. Them being almost two sides of the same coin, but coming from completely different mindsets. Vastly opposing justifications for their actions, but with the same outcomes. Wanting change, but tethering each other to cruelty. To me though, Beck can't be beat.
Totally agree!
You nailed this list, honestly Phoebe might have been a better love interest than Kate and I would've had Phoebe around the love interest of Marienne
Glad you agree!
she felt like a child and it wouldve made me feel uncomfortable
@@steveharrington2512 considering how she turned out, definitely not
Phoebe was the Paco or Ellie of the season. He saw her as an innocent, needing protection in a paternal way, not in an obsessive way.
@@cicihoustonsudholt1452 When watching I thought that Nadia was the one what Joe would protect in this season.
All the love interests before Kate were soft and feminine, while Kate has more of a cold dominating masculine look. Maybe that is why she stands out.
Ah, I agree with you there.
Yeah, Love, Beck, and Marienne did look a little bit softer yeah.
I never thought of that!
Not at all masculine
She's so an9ry and a bltter feminazl
Agreed! And well said👏
Best cmt ever❤

That's what I was thinking. They should've killed Joe off and made a season about her.
I have to say I prefer Beck over all. She was a young, loveable woman but in her heart, she was such a mess. And that was so interesting to watch.
Season 1 and Beck is my number 1
That's totally fair!

But idk why most people hated Beck 😭😭😭
She was far from loveable especially in the book. Very bland and also unfaithful
@@snoozyq9576 yes but she was not a killer like love!!! Why everyone loves Love so much?? She is a psychopath
@@snoozyq9576How was she diferent in the book? Could you explain please
Also she’s the only love interest who outsmarted Joe, well of course with the help of Nadia. Her escape was soo genius.
Kate just felt like a default character and was just there to give Joe a love interest ....
You made me obsessed with Victoria pedretti She’s An amazing actress she needs to be a star I wanna see her everywhere.

She not really a good person either

i kinda like her, but the problem is the writers didn't know what to do with her character especially in part 2.
Beck is definitely overhated she was flawed but didn’t deserve the ending she got …
The fact that Paco is the only living person to know Joe murdered her. I hope he goes against joe in season 5!

I liked Marianne and love the best. I adored the matching of evil and the possibility that he could change.

4.Kate:Kate and Joe do have Chemistry, she’s very challenging in the beginning but then we realize that Joe not only loves her but he does need her,I think she’ll grow on my way more in 5 but the uphill trajectory worked really well in part 2,depending on what happened next season this could move up

1.Beck:Beck in my mind is Everything that Joe wants but is someone he can never have,Joe was a attracted to Beck for many reasons,The main reason is because he felt like he could save her and give her a great life,Beck had never met anyone like Joe before she figured out who he was Beck thought Joe was the Best thing that ever happened to her, while at the same time being the worst thing,The only was She could ever be with Joe is if She excepts both parts of Him,Joe was so sad after he killed her he saw many visions of her and was Guilty when he dreamt about her in part 2
2) Candace - I love redheads, SHE is the OG, she had chutzpah, I love the way she treated Joe and carried herself
3) Delilah - Gorgeous, great heart, loved her and her sister, loved her Metoo vendetta, etc.
I have the same exact ranking as you, absolutely love the top 4. your description of beck made me lmao

Love was the perfect person for Joe. He deserved to dwell in the hell of his own making and she was just the person to give that to him.
Idk why. I just did.

But I also feel like she’s become exactly what her father was so I want to see if she takes up with Marianne, the student, and the sister from season 2 to kill Joe
4. Beck: She just seemed so airy and boring, but I definitely didn’t want her to die either.
everything i have done, is for you..

Beck is considered boring because she is the most relatable one out of all love interests. We all have a Beck in our friend circle, she‘s the most authentic character and that‘s why people find her bland and boring.

My ranking:
Love was the true definition of Ride or Die😂
Mostly Die or Die
CANDACE IN LAST PLACE??? criminal she was iconic

it’d be a long video but i’d love to see an overall ranking of all the characters from the show. also you should do succession season 4 reviews!
Totally agree. Succession's final season is about to come out and I feel like no ones talking about it >:(
I think what makes it so interesting on our feelings with the love interests is that we mainly experience them through Joe's POV and his experiences. And the fact that people hate them more than Joe, an actual serial killer and stalker. If Joe had met himself (like Love) he would even think they were a psychopath and kill them
This is too subjective tho, cause it’s all about who your fave is. I’d rank them based on how good/evil they are
So going from most evil to least I’d say:
5. Love
4. Possibly kate?
3. Beck (cause she did cheat a lot and got in the way of Joe’s relationship)
2. Candace
1. Marianne
Marianne is also just my favorite cause she preserved and survived!
1) Love
2) Marianne
3) Kate
4) Beck
5) Candace
Wtf. no way Marienne is higher than Beck. Let's face it. he had never the chemestry with Marienne but he did with Beck
@josebertel7000 I agree. I think he really loved Beck. They had unbelievable chemistry. No chemistry with Marianne at all.
For me:
1. Love
2. Kate
3. Beck
4. Mairenne, if she died she would be 3
I say 1) Beck 2) Marienne 3) Love
Kate is in general my favorite character (even when I like Marienne too a lot). Not because of Joe, but because i like strong, sarcastic, desilliosionised woman. Because yet they are so vulnerable.
In my opinion I noticed Kate and Joe are very compatible. I don’t like the character either but with the way she is and has been, especially the reference her dad made about dogs, and what Roald told her it makes sense why she would have an interest in Joe and him as well. It’s kinda both what they were looking for so who knows we’ll see how things turn out in the next seasons.
My ranking (you left some people out):
5:15 in You was the first time i EVER saw victoria pedretti and i absolutely LOVED her. something about her..
The fact that the Thumbnail says Joe's Love!
Love is the best love interest in 𝒀𝑶𝑼 nobody else even comes close.
I actually preferred Kate over Marrienne. Felt she wasn't boring just subtle don't know how to explain it.
That's fair! Everyone has there preferences!
Love is my favourite & I’m still in denial that she’s dead 😭
Same... its not the same without her
I just want to point out:
The only 2 women that have dated Joe and lived were Black women. I don't know if that was intentional... but man it's interesting 😅
Lol
😂😂😂😂😂
So basically in You, Black == Plot armor lol
as a black woman i never thought about that 😭😭😭
What I like most about beck is she’s the introduction character, which when you watch the rest of the seasons she’s the character that introduces us to Joe (the main character) as a character. Because she’s such a realistic female that we feel her betrayal, we buy her kindness, when they have makeup smex we want that too. She was good for her placing.
I hope beck is not a realistic female
Beck was literally the only one on that list who isn't crazy or is responsible for MULTIPLE deaths
Marianne?
You completely skipped over Marienne
Marianne and Candance were both sane and neither killed anyone.
candace wasn't sane lol@@TheChannelJ1
As an individual character, she was enjoyable, but it's not a compelling love story.
actresses *😉
Tati Gabrielle is simply gorgeous. What a majestic, elegant lady ❤
nope
This is the most accurate list, but I think Kate and Candace are tied for the last spot. Also it would’ve been fun to see Natalie in the show
Glad you agree!
Add Marianne to that list.
God i miss Love, please bring her back...
It's a shame because she was so good!
Love was the perfect match for Joe and no one can change my mind.
I'd agree!
Marienne is definitely my favorite
That's fair! She is a great character!
Kate is the one who actually accepts Joe but wants him to do better. Basically Love but want them to be good
Marianne and joe had no on screen chemistry from my point of view. Not for once did I buy that she would be someone he would kill Love for
He had the best chemistry with Beck. Then Love and then Delilah.
You forgot Natalie, and she shows everything we need to know about Joe - He doesn't even like the girls he's obsessed with, he just likes the chasing. When there's nothing more to chase, he loses interest.
My ranking:
1. Love
2. Marienne
3. Beck
4. Candice
5. Kate
Solid ranking!
Beck as always ❤
I never liked Love. I do not understand why everyone favors her. & honestly, Kate gets far too much hate. I’d prolly be standoffish to the stalker/murderer living next door too
Totally agree!
I think it was Love. She was just as crazy as him. I liked the S3 episodes when they were a evil team
for me Love is #1 and Kate is a strong #2. A little weird but I really liked her in S4. Beck #3 and Marienne #4
Solid!
Marienne was my favourite. She was really sweet towards Joe and Charlotte. I also love how she showed kindness to Love. I love her and I hope she will remain happy in season 5
I found Kate to be very one-dimensional. Which is a shame because I love the actress from her time as Oregon in Fresh Meat.
I absolutely agree with your list
1. Love : no explanation needed. An icon, his true match
2. Beck : didn’t really care for her much but she was more likeable than Kate and less boring than Marianne
3. Marianne: she was a bit boring in season 3 but season 4 made her better
4. Kate: I just never got into her as character. Mainly because like u said, her personality. She was very unlikeable. They just didn’t work
5. Candace: didn’t care about her
Karen: boring
tbh I love Kate. She is my fav
You found Marianne boring ???
@@darcyliliana4907 her and Joe together didn’t do anything for me. They were boring
nothing about beck was interesting or likeable, love said it best when she described beck as unspecial and mediocre - so your opinion is wrong.
Less boring than Marienne?? Did you watch the show?
I think you’ll forget that one girl from season 1 after Beck breaks up with Joe ._.
This is a Love Quinn stan account
Beck is definitely bottom, she's one of the most unlikable characters that the show despite that fact that the intention was clearly to make he 'cool' and 'relatable'
Shut up. Beck is the best
Love was just iconic and the dynamic between joe and love was so organic/original
Idc what anyone says Love to me is the most iconic female character in YOU
I would put Kate on a second place, she's not relatable, cute and likeable like the rest, she has dark background and her only friends being shitty as well call her the worst of them, she immediately understood that Joe is suspicious, asked him if he was a killer before he knew it himself and didn't want to interact with him like every other girl in the series.
Love and Marianne are my faves
Two solid choices!
