@@MissNovemberTuesday This was Sept 1981. Simon was 22. He turned 23 the next month, in October. Unless it's European dates, and it's November, in which case he had just turned 23 two weeks earlier. Are you really that picky?
@@michaelrmurphy2734 yes he's had struggles in the past but seems to be doing well now. He's been in recovery since 1994 I think been clean since then . He has said himself that he is focused and happy but that each day is work x
Afyer 42 years they still sing it and never sound old.. ohhhh! Just love the populat 80s waist-length jacket back then. I was 11 in 1981, now Im 53 and they are still rocking it.. Love uols DD....😊
Ive never seen nick play a scale ,,, ive seen him play knobs and sliders , but never a scale at minimum. How do you get the roland life time acheivent award is beyond me
As a teenager I was a huge fan of them but i did not have any technology at home to see them live. I swear I'm lerning NOW at the end of 2023 that thery were amazing performing live.
Always tight from Day 1 and always giving it everything they have... Stood the test of time, never stopped performing... and now they're in the RRHOF, well deserved !
I loved these guys, remember a girl in high school would invite me over after school and she would immerse me into it over and over. Wonderful, saw them in 93 and kravtiz opened for them.
Wow this is a very cool original live performance of Planet Earth! All the people sitting in the audience at that time, I wonder what they must have been thinking about DD. They were quite futuristic for that time in the early 80s. Although the song "Planet Earth" is about our planet, it has a very otherworldly sound as does the video of this song.
LOVE this! Thank u so much for sharing this magical early performance and such great quality footage. Entire DD fandom need to see this..they would be in 7th heaven!!!!
Thought I was the only one who noticed. Poor guys.....probably why they didn’t show Nick’s face because he would’ve been fuming about the brain dead crowd !
Baby DD en vivo!!! Por supuesto... Tenían que trascender... 2:46 Mmmcosssita más bella John apenas con 21 añitos, un muñequito!!! Hace ya 40 años de este éxito???... qué maravilla!!! 4:07
Simon has never been the best vocalist, but oozes cool. Incredible stage presence. Although he has drastically improved. I suppose 40 years of practice helps.
He one of he best vocalists of 80s, for instance he was among best voices on intro of Do They Know Its Christmas, unique voice. Not very clever comment
Thats the best part though! Also they seemed to do that back in the day from what I've seen, as the synth player was usually stagnantly anchored between his rig.
Uhhhh............. is it just me? Or is that venue a formal dinner-type atmosphere? And here comes Duran Duran with their explosive bassist Mr. John Taylor and Simon at lead, just slaying Planet Earth hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! So ironic and weird and totally awesome!!!!
thanks for sharing that! i've never seen the full show before, only PE and AOT. can you tell me what the source was of this? did you rip a VHS or was it re-shown on TV? also what was the proper running order of the 4 songs? thanks again!!
The source is a digital encoding from the tv-archive. The order of songs played, 1. Planet Earth 2. Hilarious Interview (not uploaded yet) + Anyone Out There 3. Girls on Film 4. Careless Memories Cheers!
John is adorable and incredible on that bass. Ughhhh
These guys were 20, 21, and 22 years old here.
And they sound fantastic live.
Nick was only 19. Simon was 23.

This live version is so clear and so perfect.
Duran Duran For Life Folks!

Incredible footage and NOT a lip-synch. Absolutely awesome performance of a young Duran Duran.
John is wow. Both musically and in looks 🔥🔥🔥

0:14 Look at Nick Rhodes' hand uncontrollably shaking. He must have been so nervous. They were so new to television at this point.

When Simon sang without doing vibrato at all. Great in any case.
The new "British invasion" as they stated back when....these guys wer e amazing! 🤙
new romantic and new wave since 1981
Still are amazing!❤
Qué grandes músicos siendo tan jóvenes 😍
Roger Taylor is one of favorite drummers! John and Andy Taylor were both bad ass too! Great rhythm section! Wild Boys of pop rock!
When DD lost Roger it was a straight downhill for years
They are just so amazing and gorgeous 🥰!!!
The most amazing thing is that they were self taught, no instrument lessons.
Duranie present! I love This musical band!❤
Sound GREAT and they all look good there, even Andy.
Increíble la calidad de vídeo
I agree with you I miss Andy too he is an awesome guitarist he is unrated I want him back
I loved these guys, remember a girl in high school would invite me over after school and she would immerse me into it over and over. Wonderful, saw them in 93 and kravtiz opened for them.
I think it’s pretty obvious their producers and record company urged them to follow their sound on this fantastic song. The rest is history.
