I sell lower end cards on ebay since 2017.. I do get a few buyers who claim they have not received their card. I will refund them then block them unless I get it returned in my mail. There's always people trying to scam.
👍 Thanks! As a Buyer and after waiting for 22 days to get my items, I've filled three (3) claims. A couple of Sellers were a little hostile and the third issued an immediate refund. In the future, I'll send hostile Sellers this video. 😮
I have recently had a ton of eBay standard envelopes bouncing back to me for needing more postage even though all I have in it is a card saver and 1 card. Not sure what to do I just had 10 returned to me today and they wanted an additional 72 cents postage. I don’t understand
This is the issue that absolutely no UA-cam content creator has discussed, unfortunately. I dealt with so many over the Xmas season being returned all of a sudden for additional postage. Guess it depends if you have someone at usps that doesn't care about every single little rule and many mailings make it through. I was irritated at not having an answer for the inconsistency when I was consistent in my shipping process. Anyway, I came to learn that eBay standard envelope should have postage rates that mirror "non-machinable" mail and the surcharge that comes with it. This is because a standard letter runs through a "kinda like S machine" and top loaders are too rigid. Some sellers ship in semi rigid and that's just not right for the safe shipment of a card.... But whatever lol. So if you look up the "2024 Rates for Odd-sized Letters that Weigh More Than One Ounce" you will see that eBay has their prices way inaccurate for us. The max $ we can choose is 3oz for $1.11/$1.12 on eBay. Well most cards with a standard top loader, team bag might end up weighing like 1.1oz/1.2oz. This means we need to be paying for the 2oz non-machinable mail 2024 rate which is $1.36 (not the dollar amount eBay has) this is too much to try and explain in a comment so l hope you follow lol. Basically, I have had ZERO issues with my orders being returned to me for additional postage once i figured this out with the help of my local shipping drop off company (Pak-Mail) and started choosing eBay's 2oz rate($.88 )PLUS adding (1) regular forever stamp. That means my total postage I'm paying for shipping 1 card, with top loader, team bag, business card, receipt and a sticker is $1.52. I can usually sneak in 1 free card too as long as that one is just in a penny sleeve. Anyway, all you need to do is look up the 2024 rates and then get to either $1.12/$1.36/$1.60 with a combo of paying some on eBay shipping label and add a stamp for the rest. I also bought a stamp off amazon to stamp my items "non-machinable mail". It was only like $10. I hope this helps. I'm on the verge of creating my first ever content video just to help everyone with this part lol. (Btw the tracking not updating will be an ongoing issue unfortunately. Only USPS regional hubs can scan ESUS apparently and even then, the folks working aren't necessarily consistent.) Hope this helps!
Not to hijack the discussion, I'm watching to hear more about ESE, but I live just south of Nashville, trying to get more into sports cards. If you end up having to pick up anything from this collection buy that you would want to dump off to someone for essentially bulk prices, Kruk prices, let me know, I'll pick it up so you don't have to drive it all the way home
Yeah sounds good, worst case Nashville isnt too far. Hit me up on instagram and I might be willing to move some. I'm basically picking up Saturday morning and coming straight home, but will be willing to move some bulk from it.
I have not sold anything with the 1 ebay shipping but I have bought probably hundreds with it. They don't scan it at all sometimes and not everyone is scanned delivered. I have a lot of them that take 2 weeks to get to me. When I use to sell dollar cards and ship them I never had any take over a week to get to the buyers. The economy ebay shipping either takes a backseat with USPS or their service has gotten worse.
What I am getting with the ebay standard envelop every single time that the seller uses a toploader with a single card is a .40 cent postage due because it gets kicked out of the sorter because its too rigid. Therefore it has to be hand sorted and thats the 40 cent charge. I have beat the subject with a hammer with the postal inspector and his supervisor and they tell me thats the way it is. So I won't buy single cards on ebay anymore
That sucks that your postal area is doing that. I've shipped over 1200 in top loaders (single cards regular stock) only 1 has gotten kicked back for more postage.
@@JMacSportsCards oh, ok. I’ve had an account since 2006, but this is my first time really digging in. Thank you so much for answering. I didn’t expect that with someone so viral like you! ❤️
If the ebay standard envelope tracking says delivered. Ebay will side with the seller. I have over 60,000 cards listed on ebay myself and sometimes get a case opened for item not received. I don't send a refund and let ebay step in and I've won every case whenever it says delivered.
Started selling on eBay beginning of February and did about $800 in sales making big use of the eBay standard envelope program. 👏🏻 always noticed that’s how you were selling so I figured I’d give it a shot
My only problem with the eBay Standard Envelope is that patch/jersey/relic/etc cards should not be allowed. As 90% of the time, those types of cards will get damaged.
I add 2 additional ounce stamps to the ebay label and write non machinable. I asked at the post office. Anything over 1/4 " thickness I send this way at least up to the 3 oz mark. Hope this helps ☺️
Items primarily gets scanned through regional distribution centers via the mail sorters. That is why its important for the envelope to have some level of flex to go through the sorter. They scan it delivered when it gets to the correct zip code. Its better to drop them off in the "metered mail" slot at the post office.
I've had like 10 cases opened out of like 300 sales which is a rather high rate. I use semi-rigid photo mailers but they aren't made to bend. Do you tihnk this is affecting my high rate of standard shipping not updating tracking?
@@juanbonilla1120 That sounds like a case of bad luck and terrible local distribution center. I have had over 1200 transactions between May 23 and Aug 23 and with 4 cards not received. I use semi-rigid card savers and put them in 4x6 invitation envelopes.
I worked at USPS for 4 years. Worked mail machine most of the time. Needs to bend. If they don’t bend these will get stuck in the machine and ruin your letter and will pop belts on the machine. Takes time to fix this. Also people need to realize if you are in a small city they don’t get the amazing mail sorting machines like the big cities. What it comes down to is if the letter can’t bend in your hand it’s not “machinable” so make sure it does.
One other thing people need to realize. If it’s not machinable it either gets sent back to you or is now going into the hand sorted pile. If it’s in hand sorted pile it only takes one postal worker to send it back because postage is not correct. Example if you shipped it out under an ounce 63 cents that’s considered a machinable letter. Say it gets stuck in the machine or beat up. Now it’s considered not machinable. Guess what non machinable is around a $1 for postage. If some postal worker hand sorting letters sees that. Its getting sent back postage due. Don’t leave it in the hands of USPS workers they’re are just doing their job. So either make sure you can bend the letter “easily” or pay a little more postage in case it’s considered non-machinable!
i love standard envelope ive sold about 800 cards so far this year only had to refund 2 people.. and the handful who say "it says delivered where is it" i tell them to wait 2 days and i either never hear back from them or hear you were right it came.
If the buyer didn’t even message me and just claimed directly to eBay for a refund, will that be ok if I take a screenshot of his claim to submit to PIP instead of the message Sir? Thank you.
One of the most helpful card videos I’ve watched. I have been so frustrated with PWE and I didn’t know I could request a refund. Also my % is way worse then yours I’m at like 12 out of 200
Just started watching your videos and your doing a great job and have helped me out. I just started selling a lot on ebay at the end of last year and sell a lot via ebay standard shipping under $20. I had to refund a seller 6 weeks ago for a card that "didn't show up ". I didn't know we were protected as a seller and I just filed a claim for the loss, so thank you!!! Also in regards to ebay standard envelope there is no real tracking on it. The only way the envelopes gets scanned is if they are processed through the letter sorting machine which is the same thing as informed delivery. If the pwe isn't sent through the machine and is hand cased then there is no tracking that will be uploaded. So if you know how informed delivery works, that's what ebay standard shipping is. Keep up the great work and thanks!
I just had my first claim on ESE and provided tracking and eBay still refunded the customer and deducted fees. The tracking was giving an error when entered oh well it was $6.
I have had so many refunds that had to be given, 6 of my last 10 cards sent out was either damaged or shown never delivered, customer complains and I have to refund. You can not fight it because you will lose the fight due to damage and no delivery shown on the tracking that is supposed to be available. I have refunded over $70 on these 6 cards I know that is not a ton of money but as a small reseller it hits pretty hard. I am no longer selling these cheaper cards any longer and no use in listing them because shipping first class is not worth it for customer on a $10 card or even a $15 - $20 card honestly. I bought a package of 250 eBay standard envelopes that was a cost that is not cheap as well. I understand others have different luck with it but I can not keep taking the losses. I guess I will try what you said for getting my money back now.
If you shipped with the eBay standard envelope as discussed here you would be 100% reimbursed super easy after 30 days. I use plain white envelopes costs $3.50 per 100 at Wal-mart my friend, can't lose with the program for cards $20 and below if you do it's your fault not eBay's or the buyers...
@@JMacSportsCards I use the more rigid cardboard eBay envelopes for better protection or so I thought. I guess shipping them in paper envelopes is more secure. I will be looking into that forum for getting re-imbursed. This was something I was unaware of until seen in this video. I have been selling cards off and on for 35 years, not on internet of course until the last 3-4 years. However like I said in my comment, some guys are luckier than others I guess because until knowing I can retrieve my money back I was losing. I will be filling out many of these forms I guess, however these forms and things should be a rarity and not a 6 out of 10 case such as mine in recent month. I do not sell many cards but people such as you and a few others have showed me selling lower dollar cards can be worth it. I am more of a in general selling A-Z items than sports cards. Thanks for the information.
@@Rocky-N-Angel yep I gotcha if you use the rigid mailers you have to use 3oz which is $1.08 as they are not machine washable. I haven’t had anyone say a card was damaged in the plain white envelopes yet with top loader and team bag (over 1300 shipped so far this way).
I totally agree with you there @Rocky-N-Angel . I think the others are just luckier than us that they got a lot less claims for refund. I have no idea why they either didn’t scan or update on the tracking numbers which gave the scammers the chances to make us refund them. I don’t wanna say too detailed here because that will just give them more ideas to scam sellers like us. I was so sad and disappointed when it happened a lot … 😢
I use ebay standard almost exclusively, I sell mostly the 1.00 to 15.00 dollar cards and it's been a rather smooth experience, yes I've had 2 refunds out of something like 800 sales , not bad at all . Occasionally I sell something graded or of high value and obviously use first class with bubble mailers . And over all sales I've had 3 refunds since 2018 .....
I've had a handful of lost PWE that don't make to the seller, but even still It's super worth it. Easy to pack and ship and more people are likely to buy because of the low cost.
What about items that show delivered that the buyer says they did not receive? If you refund them will the insurance reimburse you still, or does this only work for items that never show delivered?
I just used your link above on one of my ESU items that I had to refund, I filled out the form and added the screen shots. Then it says it wasn’t insured and it won’t let me proceed?
If you send a card correctly, you should have about a 1-2% loss rate. If sent 1,000+ cards with it. You can send a card with insurance and tracking for 60 cents vs $5 for first class without insurance. That's an insane deal.
JMAC, great video would this program be best if used with cards that have a value of $15 and under? What about graded slabs for vintage? Is it best to send these securely in a bubble mailer with delivery signature? I have alot of vintage that I will be looking to sell in retirement. Just want to get a fair price to help pay bills in retirement.
Correct this is for single raw cards $20 and under, slabs go in bubble mailers or even small flat rate priority mail boxes (free at the post office) for higher end.
Thank you for the very helpful video. I've sent 100 cards with eBay standard envelope so far this year and only one issue. I got one back because the post office wanted an extra 40 cents on top of the 60. I added a stamp and sent it back to my buyer. It makes a lot more sense to sell a $5 card with $1 shipping instead of selling the same card for $1 with $5 First Class shipping. Right? Cheers, Julien
eBay standard envelope shipping marks it as “delivered” once the package arrives to the local USPS hub. This is problematic if the package arrives to the hub on a Saturday because the customer will receive a delivery notification but won’t actually receive their card until Monday when the mail carrier delivers it. Educate your buyer before processing any refunds.
The eBay standard envelope is not 100% foolproof, but definitely a game changer for those that want to sell lower end cards. Much like you, out of all the sales I’ve made using it, the amount of disputes is so small. Great video! Also I didn’t realize that I wasn’t subscribed to you yet, thought I was.
Those i would not refund and let the user know to dispute it through eBay (they will make their own determination).
Tracking? Heh, usually anyways.
Can ESE be dropped into the bluebox collection bins that are placed randomly in my city?
Yep I do it on occasion when i dont go inside
@@JMacSportsCards Thanks!
Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated. Happy buying!
Right?
Cheers,
Julien
100%
Also if eBay never gives any tracking at all can I still get refunded
Yes
do you have to check standard envelope as you list the card or can you decide after card is sold how to ship it
Yep have to do it at the time of listing it
Is your post office usually good about accepting the eBay standard envelopes? Mine occasionally gets picky and it gets kind of annoying
eBay standard envelope shipping marks it as “delivered” once the package arrives to the local USPS hub. This is problematic if the package arrives to the hub on a Saturday because the customer will receive a delivery notification but won’t actually receive their card until Monday when the mail carrier delivers it. Educate your buyer before processing any refunds.
Are you still at .05%?
Looks like you're going to need a bigger she shed 😆 🤣 😂
😂
The eBay standard envelope is not 100% foolproof, but definitely a game changer for those that want to sell lower end cards. Much like you, out of all the sales I’ve made using it, the amount of disputes is so small. Great video! Also I didn’t realize that I wasn’t subscribed to you yet, thought I was. And thanks to you I went out and got that Epson scanner (used your affiliate link too 😉). Keep up the great content!
Oh nice man, thanks for commenting and using the link. Btw when I was getting going, I wrote a list of folks I'd like to collab with and do a live or a collab with you were one of the few on the list. Let's get together at some point. Love the content.
@@JMacSportsCards Thanks, I appreciate that! I would love to do a collab at some point. Hopefully we can make it happen!
My mail always get delivered but for some reason lots of people say they don’t get my packages… scammers
That definitely occurs, but us buyers are still covered is my point...can't lose...
