- There have been so many questions about how to list, pack, ship a card using the new eBay standard envelope for trading cards. It is important to pack the card correctly to avoid returns from the USPS or your card being damaged in the mail. I will show the process that will make sure your card will safely arrive to the seller.
My mind is still blown 🤯 on the black cutout for the pictures. Thank you for that tip that I didn't even know that I needed. 👊
Anytime Lawrence! I work in Marketing and one of our designers showed me that trick. He learned it in art school and I was equally mind blown 😂.
@@wink853 what's the best way to light your cards on fire when you realize they're worth crap???
I Invested in a "Photo Box" with 2- LED strips, 5 interchangeable background colors, compact folds to size of normal thin 2 pocket plastic school folder with cloth carrying case. Simply Genius! And for Less than $20 on eBay, US ship. U can even p/u 1 w/ adjustable LED 4 few bucks more, why not? Would've help my OCD/ADHD azz, but U don't needed for shooting cards. I also bought a nice slick compact tripod 4 about $15 w/ remote & BAM! U just got yourself a Pro cardboard shooting mobile studio plus.
Yes, I really appreciate that tip as well
@@fufrankduong5186 I've just got one of those and the glare and reflections makes them basically useless.
Sold 1000s of cards with Ebay Standard Envelope: Card into a penny sleeve, into a top loader, taped on the top, wrapped in a 1/2 piece of printer paper, into an envelope. Tape, label and ship. Takes 20 seconds to do and no issues to date. No need for a team bag or extra cards.
Where do you ship them from? I went to USPS to ask them if I can drop some cards off and they’re saying the thermal printed labels arent valid and I’d have to buy the stuff through them.. idk I was very confused
@@MannyTre if you print a label, they ship it. No idea what they are talking about.
@@MannyTreI just made my first sales and I’m wondering the same thing. Do I just pack it and throw it in the “outgoing box” or go and deal with USPS? I can’t get the correct answer.
@@ghettoasiandude Seems simple but I'm wondering too. I think once you have the label on you can just drop in in the USPS box.
@@VegasSharp thanks for the response. I was able to get some info from another seller and he said that “as long as it has a USPS label” then I should be good.
I forgot to mention this in the video that if the package weighs less than one ounce it is 51 cents, if it is between 1-2oz it is 71 cents, and if it is between 2-3oz it is 91 cents. Make sure you select the right option for the cheapest shipping! I forgot in the video and paid more than I needed to. Have fun selling guys!
Do you select that when you buy the shipping label?
Do these come with tracking
@@patricksgarage9416 yeah
Flying Dutchmen Cards when you go to print your label on the top left it asks for the weight. Change it to 1 Oz. If you are shipping 2 regular cards in the same loader push it to 2 Oz. I always select the 2 Oz & I add 4 cents when I drop them off so they go non machinable. The cards are safer going that way.
@@raidersacdc4892 Thanks for the info!
Mailed out my first card today. More than $20, but still used the best practices you go over in this video. Thanks for putting it out there. It was very helpful.
Great thorough video. Only thing I would add (not sure if you normally do) is that when I take pictures of the card(s) I crop out most of the background so the card is up close. This way if the buyer clicks on the picture they get a REALLY big picture of the card to see the corners/gloss etc. I sometimes change the backdrop so it's not a white bordered card on a white backdrop. If someone uses scotch tape for the top loader put a smaller second piece facing the other way in the middle of the longer piece so if the card slides out of the top loader it won't stick on the tape. Continued success.
Finally a shipping tutorial that’s not a half hour long.
lol forreal
Thank you for putting this rundown together! I just started selling cards on ebay, and I thought shipping would be a breeze (until the Post Office told me that my standard envelope was too rigid). This video was extremely helpful!
Great Video. The board trick for reducing glare was a great tip. A couple of tips for you if you arent doing it by now. 1. Get a label printer and some 4x6 labels. 2. Get rigid mailers that are 5x7. You won't have to use the extra cards in the pack and overall your packing time will be reduced.
I was just looking at requirements for the 93c eBay mail option and one was no rigid envelopes
@@halllow I've shipped hundreds of cards using the eBay branded rigid mailers and the standard envelope service without any complaints or issues. I was paranoid about them being too rigid as well, but after writing to eBay about them specifically and being assured they were made specifically for the standard envelope service, I gave it a shot and haven't looked back since. As long as it stays below that 1/4 inch mark there doesn't seem to be an issue.
Thank you for the thorough walkthrough, Scottie. We found it very informative and your steps easy to follow.
This one video went over all the questions I had. Clear, concise and many helpful tips. Def enjoyed it. Thanks!
Honestly this helped me so much! I too just started selling cards and collecting. Keep it up. You have already taught me so much
Thanks man, that is great to hear! The sports card hobby is awesome, so welcome! I have an instagram called @scottie_b_cards feel free to reach out to me on there if you have any questions.
He is a very effective teacher
Been listing cards for over a year now and my mind is already blown... how did I not think to do the foam board cut out to get rid of glare!?!! Good work... Heres a new subscriber
I was the same way for a very long time until I figured this out as well haha. I am glad that it was helpful! Thanks for the support and the subscription!
I did this and the buyer still selected media mail some how. Wasn’t sure if you could help since you’ve been listing cards for awhile. I’ve only sold the one so far
Just re-watched and will be sending my first envelope tracked card tomorrow. Thanks for the tutorial!
As someone who sells cards rarely, the painters tape tip was great! Thanks for the video!
Thanks! I am glad that it was helpful. I use painters tape like crazy when I package.
Best step by step video I've ever seen on here. Answered every single question of mine.
You get the MVP for this one! First informative video about this new shipping option ive found!
Thanks man, I am glad that it was helpful!
Scottie, MOST EXCELLENT video. Your step by step process Is amazing, super simple & PRICELESS in all the tips you offered here. Thanks alot man and I wish you much more success at all you do☺👍 God bless
Great video. Gets to the point without a lot of non-essential talking -- short & sweet. Keep up the good work. Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the kind words. I am glad it was helpful!
This is the absolute best tutorial video and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!
Great information, plus the step by step instructions are amazing.
Appreciate you!
Thanks Ashley! I am glad the video was helpful. I hope that it helps you sell a ton!
Hey now. Long time collector and seller. Nice breakdown on the new shipping option. I appreciate the effort. You got a new subscriber. Thanks.
Hey Mike, I am glad that the video was helpful. eBay wasn't too clear on any of this process whatsoever. Thanks for the subscription and support!
I have made my first successful sale on eBay using your information from this video. Thank you so much!
Found Exactly What I Was Searching For. Quick, Easy To Understand. Super Helpful. Thanks 😊
the thin cardboard photo mailers are also a great option for under 3oz. Also gives the card some extra protection
I need to give one of those a shot. I heard they are great. Thanks for the tip!
I wish I could subscribe more than once. Boggles my mind how you don't have more action here. Great channel!
I came here simply because I could not find the .91 cent option when using the App but I learned soo much more. THANK YOU! That picture trick 🤯
I haven’t found the 91 cent option eithe r
Thanks a lot! Been wondering how to ship cards via eBay without the $4 price tag of shipping 1st class, made the mistake of putting stamps on bubble mailer, but this has helped me a lot thanks!!
Hey Pat. i am glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video! This really helps a lot and is giving me the most confidence in selling cards on eBay.
I love this, I had so many questions and you helped so Much! From one Scott to Another - much love
Hey Scott! Glad that it was helpful for you man. BTW great name haha
Ty Scottie! This video was such a help to me. Thanks for taking the time, much appreciated 🙏
Good! I am glad to hear that it helped. I appreciate you watching and I hope you can make some money with this shipping method!
Thanks for sharing! I will certainly leverage this new program as shipping with tracking is big and normal 1st class in a bubble mailer is nearly $3 this will be the way to go for sure for sub $20 cards
I used to sell a lot of cards in a pwe this is a great asset for selling lower end cards and obviously saves money opposed to 1st class. I rarely had issues without the tracking but some would try to take advantage and the seller was pretty much S.O.L. Great video thank you.
FYI, not mentioned in the video is that the Ebay Standard Envelope service includes insurance at no additional cost. The two times I have needed the insurance it paid within just a few days no questions asked.
Thanks for sharing. It is a topic that is hot right now for me as I begin to sell more lower cost cards.
Man you have no idea how much this vid has helped me! I was struggling massively to get sales. Ever since I saw this vid, my sales have more than doubled within a months time. Thank you so much. This vid was really helpful
I did this and the buyer still selected media mail some how. Can anyone help me out? You seem experienced I was just wondering if you could help
@@TylerTubeDotCom I don't know why. If its Ebay standard Envelope that's what they should choose. Not media mail.
@@SoulFireCandlesNYC I appreciate your reply. The shipping says eBay standard envelope but then when I go to print label it says media mail and charging me over $2. Hopefully I can foggier it out. Thanks again
@@TylerTubeDotComyes it should be fixed. It can be. Yeah ebay standard Envelope has been my saving grace
@@SoulFireCandlesNYC good to know! I was hoping it’s be my saving grace too. I just need to figure out a way to contact eBay and figure it out. Really appreciate your help, thanks
Such a helpful video! Thank you and straight to the point. I appreciate you greatly for this!
Dude thanks so much for making this video. I had no idea how to ship these and was going nuts
Any time! I hope that this will help you move a bunch of cards!
lol i felt this, it was a struggle for a bit
I thought I had to have a special label thank you so much.
Bro, you just saved my life today! I'm new to selling football cards and this video helped me a lot. great video!
I have been looking for a video like this for days. Thank you so much!
Great! I am glad that it is helpful. Thanks for checking it out!

Thank you so much!! The black cardbaord for the picture was genius!! I appreciate your time and effort for this video!
Good thing I came across this video just bought a whole album of 87 Fleer for 25 cents at my daughter thrift store after keeping a close eye on the sales they do every week. Now it's time to load my eBay store and sell sell sell lol 🤣 great video thank you for the information amigo stay safe 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Wow! Congrats man that is a huge score. Those are great. Good luck moving them!
@@scottiebcards2354 thank you I'm sure they will sell slowly but surely at least I hope lol has a pete rose,Nolan Ryan, two reggie jackson and so on and they look clean no bends on corners so we shall see how it goes lol
The standard envelope is going to be game changer. Great video bro!
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I agree, I think that this will help a lot of buyers and sellers. It is a win win.
I'm having trouble finding the ebay standard envelope shipping option... It's not appearing as a way to ship. Any help???
No tracking tho?
I love the hole in the board trick for the camera!
One recommendation I have is to place a piece of paper in between the top of the top loader and the painters tape. The card may slide and you don’t want glue on the top edge of the card.
thanks! I'm a life long collector from the junk era who did it for fun. Now just getting into selling some things off so this was super helpful. Did adding those extra cards to the front and back bump you up to the .91c shipping rate? Also wondering if printing label directly on the envelope vs. taping a print out would affect time and shipping cost though I do like the idea of added layer of protection that the tape adds.
This method has already helped me so much as a buyer and seller. I can buy a $5 young guns card and not have to pay another $4 to get it here.
It is huge for low cost high reward cards like the young guns! I have been loving the cheap cards as well. Make eBay fun again!
Great video. Thanks for showing us how it's done with the new standard labels.
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Loved this video! Concise and super helpful for us rookies!
Great information and good tutorial. Awesome step by step instructions. Thanks for the video
Thank you for posting this, very detailed and easy to follow, great video 👍👍
Great! I am glad that it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks so much. How much do you usually charge for S&H in the listing? I’d like to offer combined shipping too, however, due to the 1/4 in restriction that could be challenging.
Dude the black board with the hole in it is so genius!! Thank you!
Nice informative video man. Appreciate it. Just subbed. Question though, if the card had wear/damage are there any good ways to show that when taking pictures? I always have issues with the lighting and it's hard to show some of the wear accurately. The foam thing is an awesome idea, hoping you may have more tips like that.
Hey! stay tuned. I am going to do my best to make a video on a topic that may cover this. Glad that the video was helpful!
Good vid.. No filler, all killer. Subscribed
Great video! I like the idea for that cut for the camera. That’s a great idea!
Straight, simple, right to the point. Well done! Thanks!
Any chance you guys could show how to pack a card for international shipping and what's the best service to use on ebay? this was super helpful!!
1:05 This was the most impressive part of the video for me. Thanks for all the tips!
Awesome video. Exactly what I needed.
Great video, thanks for the clarity Scottie!
Love the Vortex shirt! Big fan of my Razor HD! Very helpful video. I’ve been selling on eBay for 20 years and just came into some sports cards but I want to try to get rid of on there. Wasn’t sure how to sell them. Do you ship every single card you sell in a hard plastic top loader? Wouldn’t that get expensive? Again great video and thanks for the info!
Thanks for showing your shipping methods, very useful info!
My ugly phone shows up on my listing 😂 thanks mate ! Learn something new everyday
haha I was in the same boat as you for years. Glad that it was helpful!!
Awesome video! Might be a year old but best video on UA-cam ive seen so far! New subscriber here.
thanks so much. i just liked and subscribed. I sell ALOT of pokemon cards and it was hard to sell the cards valued at 1-5 dollars bc the shipping was $4. Cant wait to see more content from your channel
I completely agree. My nephew is 8 and he only makes a few dollars a week in chores and when he sees a 4 dollar card he gets excited until you tell him it is actually 8 dollars with shipping. This will help a lot of people! Thanks for the subscription. I appreciate it!
@@scottiebcards2354 does your nephew collect pokemon? id be more than happy to mail you or him some cards as a thank you for the helpfull video. also i got 2003 mlb showdown cards that i can mail you that i dont want nothing crazy but i got a bunch and im a hockey guy so i dont know anything about baseball
That foam board is SO SMART. 😎
Thanks Andrea!
Thank you for sharing the step by step process all in one video!
Anytime. Thank you for watching!
Super helpful! So you don't need a label maker, just using a regular printer? You can just cut it out and tape it on? Thats amazing, I was thinking of getting a label maker today actually but would love this
Nice to find a tutorial that is right to the point.
Super helpful thanks a lot! I'm assuming you just put it in with letters and not with the outgoing packages since it's letter sized.
I’ve sold thousands of Yugioh cards on eBay and tcg, and the best way I’ve found for the low end stuff is to sleeve the card, put it in upside down on the toploader and tape it shut with scotch tape. That way the card can’t slide and hit the tape.
Then I tape the toploader to the inside (address side) of a smaller envelope (about 2/3 the side of a regular envelope)
No team bag, no paper, super easy.
Great way to ship. Thanks for sharing. I always say try to use painters tape so it is easier to peel but other than that I love the method!!
You can also wrap your card up tight in the left over piece of paper you have after you cut your label out. Been doing it that way for over 2 yrs & haven’t had an issue yet with a card being damaged. You can also select the 2 oz & add a 4 cent stamp at the PO & the card will go non machinable which honestly more safe for the item
Great tutorial! Just what I needed. Thank you 🙏
This is a great idea. I’ve never had a letter arrive bent in half so I think it would be great to ship cards and save money.
don't use tape at all if you're using a team bag. nice to see the label and process. i've heard negative about this method so far, but it looks like it should work good for most of us.
Thank you for doing this. I was wondering how to print those labels. I have a bunch of $1-$5 cards I want to list.
Thank you so much for this video! Very informative, I’ve only sent via bubble mailers before
This video came in clutch. Thank you so much
Really helped me a lot. Now I’m going to be starting my eBay journey.
Awesome video thank you very much I had no idea there was so much involved
Great video! Getting ready to try the black foam sheet. If it works as good as it looks, you are a GENUIS!
I have struggled for 2 years on ebay trying to photograph without the glare on my cards.
My question Scottie,
On these ebay standard envelope, does it actually show tracking for my customers and myself? I've been told that it is just a barcode. Can my customers just go to ebay and track their card like with $5.25 shipping?
Hey Scott. Thanks for the video! When you say "top loader", would a card saver work just as well? Thanks.
If you want the card to arrive bent and get negative feedback sure
Best video for shipping cards!! Thank you
Thanks 🙏 great video !! I just started last year and sold my first cards last month! 🤑🤑🤑
Awesome! Congrats man. Welcome to the hobby and I hope this method can help you make a bunch of money. Thanks for wathcing!!
Thank you for sharing this. It really helps me as a seller to save money on lower priced sales. I was about to pay more for first class mail by mistake. The ebay app doesn't give you the ebay standard envelope option when printing the shipping label, but if you go to the website you're given the option to choose the under $1 shipping option.
Thanks for the video. Can you just drop the envelope in the mailbox for pickup by the mail carrier?
Just subscribed great tips. Going to start selling some of my Marvel Cards!!!
Thanks for this video! I’ve been wanting to start selling on eBay for months but haven’t yet due to my complete ignorance/ anxiety of the whole process. I really appreciate that you showed the whole process from start to finish. My question is does this white envelope rule pertain to sports cards only or all trading cards? Bc now this is another layer I have to think about 😅
All trading cards
I don't see anything that says the envelope must be white. While I have only used white, I don't believe that is true. I've read the requirements. No mention of white. ???
Adhesive shipping labels is the biggest time saver I've found.
Hey Lee, I completely agree. I think it is time for me to make the jump and get some!
Definitely worth buying a thermal printer. Went with a Zebra printer under $100. Had it for 3 years with zero issues.
If you were to do a follow up video I'd mention there is a 1, 2, and 3 ounce option it is $0.51, $0.71 or $0.91. I'm guessing if someone was selling a lot of lower value cards together the larger shipping options would be ideal and certainly the way to go over first class mail $4 min in a bubble mailer
awesome video! will be immediately transitioning to this method now with my PWE Shipments
Great! I have done the same thing and it has been a nice transition. Thanks for watching!
Thank for this, was wondering what in the world an "ebay standard envelope" was and how do you purchase these "envelopes" lol. It's just like printing out a label & you tape it to the PWE. Nice! Was thinking about selling some sports cards for the first time in a couple years, some of which aren't worth $20.
Hello, excellent video. 👍
But I have a question and it is necessary to put a stamp on the envelope??
Nope, No need for the stamp. The card is ready to ship once the postage is paid to ebay and the paper is printed!
This was really helpful. Thanks.
Anytime. I am glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the vid. Great examples.
Hello there, very informative video. I just had one question. What if the card is over a $20 dollar value? Can you still utilize the EBay label method?
Thank you for sharing this information! My problem is that I do not have the option in my shipping to select "ebay standard envelope". The only options under standard shipping are: USPS First Class, UPS Ground or FedEx Ground. How do you get that option added? The category I have selected is Trading Card Singles
Unless you specify that the item's weight is 3oz or less, the standard envelope option will not be available.
Thanks for such a valuable video!
What do you select in shipping if low value card and you just want to put a stamp on it instead of using eBay prepaid service? I’ve received many this way. New to selling on EBay. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I will have to do it this way. I was trying to print directly on the envelope and didnt have any success doing that.
Anytime, Thanks for watching. That would have been awesome if printing it on had worked. I have tried a few things as well and taping it on has always just ended up being the easiest!
Thanks for the foamboard idea! 😎
So, I'm wondering if you can answer something for me. The requirement says "uniform thickness". Well, how uniform? A single top loader with two padding cards on each side creates a fairly sizable lack of uniformity. Is it basically just ok if the thickest part is less than .25 inches?
Thanks for the video. I'm curious to see what the tracking info looks like in ebay. I can't see the USPS scanning these like a priority/1st class label. I see these more like the lettertrack.com tracking service that I use for my postcards where "delivery is expected" in a day or 2. The USPS won't be scanning these when they put them in the buyer's mailbox. Would be great if you can show the "delivered" screen in ebay. I wonder if the tracking is going to work like the USPS informed delivery where you get an email with pictures of the envelopes you'll be receiving that day and ebay and whomever they partnered with will be able to verify delivery by tapping into the Informed Delivery program. Anyway, as someone with over 28,000 postcards listed, I can't wait for this to be available to the postcard sellers.
Hey! feel free to send me a message on instagram. I would be happy to send you a screenshot of the tracking from the few cards I have sent out. Thanks for watching the video. I appreciate it!
