    When comping, I tend to lock position and then select all the takes, hit “s” to split at the same divide before and after a phrase, and then “k” to mute/unmute down the line, then fade as needed. I then switch the color of the take I end up using. But then I’m often using 10 or more takes and need to quickly a/b/c/d/e compare.

      That's definitely the way to do it. I was keeping this video for beginners. I didn't want to throw too much at them lol.

    Best vid of the day. Have you ever tried to left-click on the record button and to hold? Try right-clicking the record button, too... ;-)

    Does anyone know a short cut for deleting multiple unused take lanes? Currently I right click on the take I want removed then scroll down to delete track. Thanks

    Second question, more relevant, when using this method is it 1) possible to preview smaller sections of each take before committing and 2) are all of the crossfades automatic or do I still have to put them in to avoid the pops and clicks?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, you can preview smaller portions of each take. If you enable automatic crossfades then they will happen automatically. I like to manually go in and clean up the take though.

    This may be a dumb question but can I use thus same procedure when I lay down guitar solos?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely, you can use it on anything you record. 👍

    was trying to figure out how to turn on the vertical grid lines in track view though I managed to do it for the keyboard roll.
    Any hints?

      If you look in this video at the top left, under EXPORT click VIEW. Then in the dropdown select WINDOW.

    You did not say anything at the end, like, do have to render anything, etc?

    • @AudioSorcerer
      @AudioSorcerer  6 місяців тому

      Yes, once you are happy with it, you can render it. 👍

    How do I know how the other takes sound like? You never showed how to listen to other takes which is probably the most important part of the tutorial that was never shown -1

      Just hit the solo button on the take you want to hear.

      He showed to drag over parts of the lanes which immediately promotes the lane without demoing it. Its a way of doing things and he's likely trying to simplify for the video.
      What I tend to do (but please note it's by no means the ONLY way) is:
      The last take is on top by default so drag over the parts (in this case the spoken numbers 1 to 8) so you end up with 8 slices on the TOP take. Select the slice you want to compare (lets say start with spoken number 1) and hit Shift/Spacebar together. This loops the playback of the selected slice. To switch between lanes/takes to compare them, use the Up/Down arrows. This also highlights the take you are comparing on the left of screen. E.g. T3 could be highlighted orange, etc. Lots of words but hope this makes sense.
      Once you're happy you can select the main area and select Delete Muted tracks to save hard drive space. You could also move the takes so they all appear on one lane but this isn't necessary.
