Well the soldiers who they are honoring had to deal with much worse weather conditions in the trenches (and people shooting at them, besides). In comparison, a little rain doesn't seem that bad.
As a Briton, let us never forget the millions of French who died in their own fields fighting to defend Europe in Two world wars. Although Libertie and Egaltie may be difficult to come across in this modern age let us never forget Fraternitie. Brotherhood of all makind.

Well, it talks about using the impure blood of Germans to water the fields of France. But if you'd been attacked by German states throughout your history, you'd fee the same.

Germany's anthem is by Joseph Haydn, so a real household name, but to me, it always seemed a little 'meh' to me, and I'm not even beginning to talk about the obviously problematic history of its use. This one string quartet where Haydn uses the melody is the best thing that has ever happened to it.
The French anthem on the other hand is harmonically very interesting, especially in that part 'Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras...' etc. (That part is a little graphic.), really original. I love its almost operatic sound, and in my opinion, the arrangement by Hector Berlioz is unbeatable, its so mindblowingly awesome and noisy, so theatrical and epic. I have both German and French roots, both countries with great musical traditions, but France clearly made the better choice with its anthem.

Actually there are both in the long version of the song... There should be Aux armes citoyens..." twice, the first with "marchez" and the second with "marchons".

In Romania and Poland, french troops fought agaisnt Bolchevik which were trying to invade those countries (and no, they didn't want to "leberate" them or to bring them the "wonderful" communism so gentle with people with their Gulag and other vacation camps)...
At the .55 minute point you can see both Trump and Putin. It was during Trump's time as president. That was a better time for world peace.
