One of the clearest marks of a great singer is that they sound at least as good live as they do recorded. Saw Rhudy open for MO last year and she absolutely hits that mark. Can't wait to see what she does next.
This was a great concert at the NC Museum of Art. I love Mandolin Orange, and I happened to hear a WUNC radio solo session of Kate Rhudy a few months ago and thought she was amazing. Check both of them out on here or Spotify!
Seems like Carolina takes some Appalachia, some delta, some of everything a forms some really good, honest musicians. Saw MO/watchouse at red rocks recently, and saw Rhiannon Giddens of Carolina chocolate drops fame two nights ago in ann arbor. Hello carolinas.
James Mayer this is the folk way. There's something very charming and organic about gathering around a single mic moving in and out to get the levels right, if it's a good mic. This one is, it's from Ear Trumpet Labs

I get it. Thanks for the reply.
Single mic is very much a bluegrass tradition. Check out the choreography of the "Earls of Leicester" mimicking Flatt & Scruggs. Gets pretty involved.
