TBH after thinking about it, I've come to the belief that a lot of the fans that side with him aren't fans of the games - not saying they never played the games, just that for them they always took a backseat. They were fans of the books. That's why so many of them will die on the hill of 343 writing and defend explaining critical plot details in external media.
@@averymicrowave1713 TBH, his eras additions weren't even all that great in terms of the extended lore either. Bad Blood fucks over the likeable character's of Bungie's only real character driven game, ODST. Greg Bear's forerunner saga ruins alot of the interesting elements that Bungie's forerunners had and introduces new factions that don't really do anything but confuse previous halo fans. Grasslands was an alright book but to be quite honest, its story should have happened as a game and not before whatever the fuck halo 5 was. It will always sadden me that 343 failed to bring the external lore (that was written under bungie's reign) into the games while also respecting what bungie had established previously, both narratively and characterization wise. Maybe Frankie and Microsoft shouldn't have hired people who hated the series, oh well.
@@averymicrowave1713More like fans of Greg Bear. Anyone who is a fan of the Bungie era books is probably even more irritated with 343's retcons than game fans. For example, the complete rewrite of shield worlds, the purpose of them, and why they failed is just painful to witness for anyone who liked Ghosts of Onyx. Now, a "shield world" is not a giant slipspace dyson sphere bomb shelter inside a metal planet. Instead, it is a name for the Didact's flying ball fortresses.
The fact Frank O’Connor retconned the entire bungie lord because he wanted to tell his story rather than what bungie had going. Nobody talks enough about this.
That's because most people that still care about the story, are rabid 343 stans. I know I'm promoting 'Us vs Them' shit here, but the population of Halo fans has shrunken to such a state I feel it's justified

@@peanutgallery4 I would accept that when it objectively breaks it's own rules. According to the the librarian the genesong guarunteee our success following the ideals of destiny. Then our genesong that specifically made cortana made an evil a.i. that destroyed human civilization and then caused the downfall of humanity. Then our genesong decided to force us against the banished to reawaken the endless. A force quoted as more dangerous than the flood. They literally went chosen one to somehow have a set of mysterious coincidences cause our downfall. The literal opposite of the stated lore as far as our genesong and destiny is concerned. That is one of many issues with 343 lore because they abandon most of a previous games story because people had issues with the gameplay.
@@xenosayain1506 I've talked to 343 lore nerds about this before, asking them if the Librarian actually had the power of predestination, and if Forerunners were that powerful how could they ever be defeated? Best faith reading is that it was still very very lucky that Chief did show up and while they predicted alot of things that thankfully happened eventually, it was never down to specifics, as in she didn't mean that Chief himself was predestined nor Cortana, but that enhanced Spartan-like supersuited humans would eventually come about and smart AIs would eventually be created. but she could never have predicted that humanity would be lucky enough to survive the Covenant, and that John would be lucky enough to not have died on a thousand different occasions before arriving on Requiem.
Frank "Dipshit" O'Connor is out after a decade of singlehandedly ruining Halo's canon. Here's hoping for a hard retcon of all the 343 bullshit in the coming years, Microsoft has not been pulling any punches with 343 recently.
@@peanutgallery4 I know 343 lore way too well, and I can tell you that good faith reading is bs. Genesongs aren’t predictions, they’re Forerunner imprints, Chief’s ancestors were specifically imprinted with the Iso Didact’s genesong, hence why Guilty Spark makes the confusion, “why would you hesitate to do what you have already done?” and all that, at least going by 343’s lore. Who’s genesong did Halsey get to make her Uber smart? I actually have no clue. In 343’s lore only *some* humans are Reclaimers, these are the same ones that can activate Forerunner shit and have genesongs. Don’t ask me how that works with every human on Harvest being a reclaimer, 343 lore is dumb and literally didn’t account for that. In Bungie lore, there was this thing called the Data Vault, in the original Halo 2 ending it was supposed to be under the Ark (which was on earth where the portal to the Ark would be in Halo 3), but in Halo 3 ODST’s legendary ending we see a structure that’s likely the final version. This Data Vault is how Forerunner history and knowledge got transferred to humanity, the humans ended up unknowingly worshipping the Forerunners as the Abrahamic god, and even Latin was learned from the Forerunner. No, really, in Ghost of Onyx it’s revealed that the Sentinels speak it, and in Contact Harvest it’s revealed that the Covenant learned Latin too, likely through their access to the Key ship and the fragment of Mendicant Bias on board.
To me, the canonical ending of the Halo timeline is Halo 3. Everything 343 has done is fully some separate Alternate Universe. Master Chief is still resting on the dawn.
I almost skipped the sponsored segment, but then I stopped myself and thought, “Wait, maybe it’s actually fake.” And I was so happy that it was; thank you for doing that.
1h vid for an April fools vid is insane! Edit: Was a fun watch, it was a nice opportunity to see a halo fan that stopped following halo once Bungie left react to 343 shenanigans.
when you start listing all the 343i lore contributions like that one after another it really sounds like they had no idea what they were doing with the IP from the beginning the pre-343i lore was amazing too, one of the best sci-fi universes ever. What a total waste
Indeed, even if they did not hire people who hated halo they were still too stupid make something out the game that was Infront of them. I don't know if you remember, but 343 did a lot of stupid shit with halo reach like completely making the infection maps and game modes unplayable. That right there is enough evidence to show that they had no idea what they were doing.
There is no 343 canon, just like that Halo TV show is no real timeline. Just a nightmare Chief was having in stasis. Also thank you for including the Sega Dreamcast to the table.

The first 60 seconds summarizes every 343 shill better than I ever could. "woah guys they added 3 maps, a gun, and some cosmetics. THE GAME IS SAVED!!!!!" Though I'll stand by the only good thing 343 ever doing is doubling back to actually (mostly) fix MCC, add some stuff, and release mod tools and Steam workshop support for all the games. Shouldn't have been as broken as it was on launch, but at least it made a turnaround since that's the only way to play the old games on PC and newer consoles. All the Halo mods in the works are much more fun and interesting than Infinite will ever be, in terms of new content. I would have been more outraged if they just abandoned it forever.
Eh, about MCC, that was actually Certain Affinity, not 343, 343 employees like Dersky literally *laughed* at the issues as if they weren’t even a problem.
I recently played through Halo with a friend who never played before. By the end of CE he had deduced that humans were forerunners. He thought it was a neat dramatic irony that the covenant are trying to kill their gods without knowing it. When we got to Reach he asked me "are we gonna play 4 next?" and I told him "well... it's not very good. it was 343's first game and they changed a lot of stuff like the backstory." He asked me "like what?" and I told him "well one of the big ones is they made forerunners aliens." and he made a disgusted face. We still haven't played Halo 4.

Staten was actually brought into 343 in early 2020, far before the reveal trailer. He was setup as a starting date at the beginning of July, and a primary reason to why he was simply was to onboard the marketing team and push the game into help market the game to it's appropriate audience. He then took over about 3 different leadership roles post the middle to end of 2020. A large part of criticism internal developers have and had with leadership was Staten and his insistent and continuous attempt to make the "community" the most primary function of Halo Infinite. In this case, a lot of the things you see "wrong with Halo Infinite" are actually either a community forerunner effort, or a community involvement effort post launch. The problematic side is that almost every aspect of "Real Halo" was entirely not being worked on because the community believed that a robust complicated Forge mode and a robust complicated method of a custom games browser would "bring people to use Halo as grounds to build new games". The best part was waiting for Forge and Custom Games Browser to drop weeks apart and absolutely no one care that it existed, and 343 to say "See ya Joe" as they knew he was going to get fired. The turn around was many of the battle pass and character model design/animation team was let go, along with numerous pve design teams, and Staten was let go by being demoted back to his old position. Joseph Staten, Creative Director of Publishing -- Aka Creative Director of Words & Marketing. Focused primarily on Recore on the Xbox One. Although he did create and embody a large quantity of the story of Halo, the problem is that he never touched the story of Halo Infinite, nor was he wanting to, or even wanting to work on the narrative side of Halo. He existed in the "Creative Director of Halo Infinite" spot solely due to the fame he was put on, and the pedestal he stood on provided him grounds to attempt to please people that arbitrarily would never be happy, since most of them never liked the multiplayer of halo, and legitimately didn't even want Halo to be successful so they can keep it a "niche fps". A fun criticism of 343 was that Bonnie actually accepted him as taking over 3 leadership roles, all of which he had zero experience in. This is the equivalent of hiring a marketing firm to develop and design the product you're creating, and then warp the product to fit the marketing, rather than warp the marketing to fit the product. We have to realize: Staten was the embodiment of everything "wrong" with 343, not the savior. That's like hiring Jason Jones to be "HCS" lead whilst disregarding that Jason Jones hated that Halo's multiplayer was more successful than the campaign he designed. But no one will admit that, and Bonnie Ross will go down as the "Martyr that had to be removed to save Halo" despite the actual issue all along was the lack of appropriate leadership or leadership that actually knew what they were doing. The funny part is when people think Bonnie Ross, Kiki Wolfkill or Frank O'Connor had any say over anything of the game. That's as stupid as blaming Bill Gates for the Xbox 360 red ring of death lol. And people listen to 'content creators' who actually think that, which is even more scary.

funny thing is, you could probably get away with doing that as a legit sponsored ad for that game. They really don't care about how you do these, just as long as you mention a legit promo code and tell people what they get from claiming it and where to find the game. The payout you get is completely based on how many people register with those codes anyway. It's almost respectable how much freedom they give people to do these ad reads. Shame the game still is just a shallow, if kinda pretty looking, typical mobile game.
What really ticks me off about 343 bungling the Halo lore is that I think the concept of the lovecraftian entities that are the Precursors is awesome. An ancient cabal of gods that can control reality, and are all but wiped out by the Forerunners through means unknown? Forcing them to hide in a desperate shape-shift that backfires horribly and turns them into an all-consuming entity that is both mindless and frighteningly intelligent? Sign me the hell up, that sounds perfect! But, unfortunately the introduction of that concept is surrounded by a bunch of nonsense that either contradicts, retcons, or outright invalidates the original games. Leave it to 343 to have one awesome idea and still fuck it up.
There is no doubt in my mind that the composer was invented specifically to tease a John/Cortana romantic relationship. John becomes digital so now they can 'be together'. Then Halo 5 comes along and it allows Cortana to become physical so now they can 'be together' in a different fashion. But how will it happen? The funny thing about the "Didact in two different places" conundrum is that it seems even those who follow 343i's lore don't even know it: there ARE two Didacts running around who are the same person: the Forerunners apparently have this custom of creating "backups" of themselves in Geas implanted on other beings in order to continue their lives. The Didact that we see in Halo 4 is the Ur-Didact (the original) while the one mentioned in the Halo 3 terminals is the Iso-Didact (the backup). Ur here went mad insane because of the Flood, namely Gravemind roasting him in public, while Iso came to be due to some weird shenanigans triggering the backup earlier than intended. Its still stupid space magic tho but basically the Librarian cucked her husband with her husband and that's important to the lore because it was Iso who ultimately helped with the Halos firing. It is incredibly stupid and convoluted, and just wanted to mention that. You're welcome :>

@@Filip1613 Bruh, i play Pathologic 1 for fun. Dont @ me about oppressive game design, the level is just ass. You wanna talk oppressive game design? Lets talk about the mission Cortana from Halo 3. You're at least working towards a tangible goal in that level, so whatever the devs throw at you dont really get to you that much because it makes sense narratively. You're plunging into the belly of the beast and you're meant to barely get out of there alive with your reward (that being reunited with Cortana). Its very satisfying narratively. You're also not stuck in an auto-scroller in Cortana, so if you're good enough at the game, you can get through it faster. But its going to be pretty hard. Cortana is the second to last level in 3, you're meant to be challenged heavily that late in the game. As much as speedrunners give the level shit (given its a run killer, especially with skulls on), its an excellently designed experience for a level near the tail end of the game. The Library is midway through CE, is horribly paced, prohibits you from completing the level faster (which its fine if you like that, but i wouldnt even really consider that "oppressive" design more than it is just having to wait), and the challenges the level throw at you arent even necessarily that engaging. You just spray with the shotgun the entire time and thats it. Its a slog and you just have to not be stupid and not needlessly waste your shells. Its a very important mission in the story of CE, but the same is true for many of the levels in CE. And you cant even argue that its a good wave defense level or some shit. The very second level of CE does a much better job at wave defense and there's a lot more room for skill expression and using game knowledge as well. It rewards repeat playthroughs.
That halo 2 mcc pc floor bug is one of the most insane things I’ve ever personally witnessed in a game release. The fact it was a nearly 20 year old game being rereleased for the third time (vista, mcc, then mcc pc) made it even nuttier. So many players that day were excited to enjoy halo 2 again and watching that feeling die as players fled over the course of one day will never leave me. There’s no way they tested that pc release version even once. I think you should consider making a full mcc video. There are a handful out there but you clearly have a full grasp of the mountain of errors.
A large part of that was due to Unreal Engine being the outward engine utilized for the interface/ui. The funny part is still that people think that it's a "good idea" to go to Unreal Engine, as if Hogwarts Legacy wasn't a prime example to why you don't use that engine as a AAA developer.
@@anonymous7564 Unreal engine is like the industry standard my dude. It's used for Fortnite, Bioshock, Splinter Cell, Borderlands, Deus Ex, Chivalry, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Alice: Madness Returns, Abyss Odyssey, and more. 343i is so incompetent that they don't even know how to use a robust, industrial-grade game engine properly where I have seen it crash multiple times trying to load MCC.
Master Chief's Mjolnir armor was shined with Jiralanae hide at the Dr Catherine Halsey Surgical Modification Center (DocCatHalSuModi) "How does it feel to live long enough to see all your favorite franchises go down in flames?" "It feels great."
The fact you had hope for this game made me want to spit in your next meal and point at you in disgust and then bust a move and throw a dog treat at you
343 lore is honestly why I fully believe Halo can NEVER be saved. Too many garbage books about space bullshit and retcons EDIT, Battle Royal (The film) was great, good Japanese slasher flic. Better than the cheap American rip off, The Hunger Games
Man, I knew 343 had ruined Halo but I don't think I realized the lore was this fucked (because 4, 5, and Infinite do such a bad job of conveying the info I guess).
Thats the worst part. They butchered the lore in favor of their new thing, but they cant even manage to adequately explain their new thing without forcing you to read a bunch of reddit tier dollar store novels.
@@Sebomai-b8iThe novels are legitimately awful, and people unironically soyfaced over the Arbiter and Vale book, I hate using that word but good lord it was just so embarrassing. Who the hell even cares about Vale nowadays? Or anything from Halo 5? I saw these same people say that Vale "saved" Halo 5. Worthless character with embarrassing dialogue (thanks Brian Reed!) like using the actual terminology for Elites and Brutes instead of just calling them that like literally everyone else does in the series. Imagine the Arbiter calling humans "Homosapiens" constantly instead of just saying humans. It would sound cringeworthy as hell. That's what Vale feels like. Then these same people lose their minds over this one detail because she literally doesn't have any other personality than "She speaks Elite and likes them a bit too much, haha!" Honestly she should have been Dare instead, even if I hate the whole Buck becoming a Spartan thing, at least she's a much more likeable character that we know already like Buck, actually does have personality, has a pre-established relationship with Buck that we saw in ODST that could still be expanded upon, could even lead to more interesting conflict in Osiris (both her and Locke are ONI agents) instead of... whatever Vale is. It would have been vastly better, and honestly no one talks about Dare in any rewrites for Halo 5 for some reason when really she singlehandedly would have improved Osiris by her mere presence alone due to Buck being hesitant about having to work with ONI agents again, about the mission yet again compromising the relationship between him and Dare just like we saw in ODST, Buck trying to convince Dare that Chief isn't the threat but Locke and ONI say otherwise... this sounds so much more interesting to me than what we got. But no, ODST is apparently written by a "12 year old", or at least it feels that way to people like Ascend Hyperion! And that's JUST Vale, don't even get me started on the Didact they STILL refuse to kill off even after Frank has left 343 because otherwise he would have had a baby meltdown since it's his epic Star Wars OC and sent death threats to 343 over it. He defended the Halo TV show and if it were up to him, he would have made that canon too instead of the "silver timeline" crap
Nobody: 343i: *The Bonobo Incident* (In case people "forgot" or just don't know what the bonobo incident is well, on juneteenth a day of celebration of the Black community in America 343i was generous enough to give everyone a free Nameplate in Halo infinite called "Bonobo" which is a species of... monkey... yeah...... let that sink in...)
"Oh but you see, Bonobo is just the default term for all the unnamed stuff in the engine and they forgot to actually add a name to this nameplate made for a very specific occasion. It's a total coincidence this incident happened on Juneteenth of all days and never on any other day of the year." I think it's absolutely hilarious that the fanboy cope about this situation still unintentionally throws 343 under the bus by implying they're too inept to add a name to a fucking nameplate. Also, never forget "Moochers of Reach," that shit wasn't an accident
@@nagger8216 You're also forgetting that many of the people who were in charge of the "bonobo incident" are also the same people who were community leaders and members before they worked at 343. It's so important to remember that most of the people that think they're "totally not racist", also have older videos they had to delete that had them speaking entirely outlandishly about others back when they were younger, including and not limited to deleted social media and forum posts of the same regard. The ironic scenario here is that 343 isn't "full of racists". The Halo Community, however, is.
I'll say one thing for 343, I wanted to play some Halo 2 on PC and I didn't need to buy MCC as a whole to do it. On Steam you can buy any individual game from the collection as DLC, which gives you MCC with only the game you bought installed and enabled, with the option to buy the others as DLC. So I finally got to play Halo 2A's campaign without needing to pay for the whole collection and while I'm going to get the rest of the Bungie games as I go through them, I have no need to ever purchase or own Halo 4 unless I decide to try it out of morbid curiosity but given I hated the hour I tried of it years ago, doubt it'll come to that. To buy them all as DLC might be slightly more expensive than just getting the collection but I still think that's a pretty fair trade off for giving us the freedom to pick and choose what parts of a collection we want to pay for. I'm sure we've all bought a collection where we weren't interested in every game on it before, having the option to exclude them and pay less for what we do want is something I wouldn't mind other companies copying from 343. Like with Bethesda pushing for mod support on console, just because they manage to constantly piss off both fans of their games (seen plenty who like Halo 4 but agree that 343 has seriously dropped the ball several times) and the legacy fans who are loyal to games made by a different company in what may as well be a different franchise, it doesn't mean they can't have a good idea now and then. As for the 343 lore, not gonna lie I like the Precursor stuff because I'm a fan of extremely nonsensical Sci fi stuff like neural physics or whatever the bullshit God level tech they had was called. I also like the origin of the flood, the idea that the Precursors were akin to benevolent deities yet were still fallible enough that lowly but aggressive and ambitious mortals, the Forerunners, could eventually challenge and eradicate them because it's all tech and not magic (despite how severely blurred such a line becomes when dealing with power of this magnitude). That the last act of these benevolent godly beings was a desperate attempt to ensure the survival of their race, yet through pure chance this went horribly wrong and created what would become the nigh unstoppable bane of the entire universe. An act of hope from a benevolent species decimated by betrayal, ultimately wrought the vengeance they never wanted. The Forerunners despite being succesful in overthrowing what amounted to God and ascending as close as they could get to such a status themselves, are ultimately consumed by something that mirrors them. In their aggression and hunger for power, control, dominance, they corrupted the divine into a twisted mirror of themselves and the Flood consumed them with all the might the Forerunners dared to think they could ever challenge. The broad strokes, I love the ideas and how it works thematically, plus I'm a total simp for literal God tier Sci fi tech like the Precursors have. All that said however, it's not Halo or it shouldn't be. In a vacuum I love the broad strokes of it but to just tack all that on to the existing Halo history and lore, fundamentally altering massive elements of foundational parts of the lore while paradoxically also being as blatant a rehash of what we already had as the Star Wars sequels, is pretty dumb regardless of how much I do like the some of the ideas 343 has. If 343 were to give me this whole Precursor/Forerunner conflict as it's own franchise inspired by Halo, I'd be totally into it but as part of the Halo universe it just feels tacked on, sloppy, lazy, too much the same and too much different at the same time.
I want to thank you for single handedly making me realize that the butchering of Halo lore was even worse than what happened to Star Wars. Your reviews helped me realize it. Before I never really fully grasped just how bad it was despite not liking many of 343’s changes. You helped me realized how awful the new games have been.
A lot of it, which I don't think Andy here knows, is all thanks to the Communities efforts into creating "lore" based in the books. We forget that the Brothers Grim were simply Halo Community members who "Loved Halo's lore so much" that they created books on it, then eventually worked at 343 and helped create Halo content on the side. Or the various Halo content creators who slowly worked at 343 Industries over the years on the story and narrative team. Many of the "problems" with lore inconsistencies and entire rewrites are due to community interpretation, rather than what's actually there at face value. Many took more "inspiration" from books created by non-Bungie story leads, and helped shape Halo's story into this, rather than focusing on the foundation that was laid out in 2001, 2004 and 2007.
@@anonymous7564 Hello Anonymous. I think you remember me from when I wanted to know about the philosophy of Bungie's games. I wanna ask some questions. 1) What do you think about Halo Reach? It's singleplayer and multiplayer? I never played Halo in my entire life, but I want to know you thoughts about the game. Many people loved it, many people hated it. 2) What do you think of 343, it's lore compared to Bungie's lore and also the lore of Staten and Nylund, compared to Bear's Forerunner trilogy? I watched the Sabertooth video about how Humans are Forerunners. Have you? 3) What do you think of Infinite's gameplay in both singleplayer and multiplayer? I watched "Terminal Array's" videos for singleplayer and the combat is great in my opinion, I wish there was no grapplehook and no sprint. I hope you don't call me a 343 shill, please, because, overall, I do not like them. Anyways, another thing I liked is the generally smaller crosshairs (I don't know why I like them), and the overall look of the guns. But I do not like the design of the ring, it looks fucking ugly, with all those metal pillars. I NEVER played a Halo game, but watching videos of Zeta Halo was painful becuase of the graphics. At least, the combat is great. I'm gonna say this again, I just wish there was no grapplehook and no sprint. I don't really know a lot about the multiplayer, I don't watch videos of it, and I never played it. So what do you think of it, Anonymous? And how would you compare the SINGLEPLAYER COMBAT in Infinite compared to the other Halo games from Bungie and 343? Only the combat, not the visuals, graphics, stc. I hope you can answer those questions. That will be great. I am a recent Halo fan, only like for 1 year or so. 1 year ago, I have no fucking idea what John-117 was, or the Flood, or the Covenant. Now I know. But I want to know your answers to the questions. Bye for now, Jans Kam.
While I do take issue with a lot of 343’s lore, I do actually kinda like the idea of the precursors but I think they were poorly fleshed out. An ancient and powerful race choosing to lay dormant in the face of extinction and then being horribly perverted by time and space is a great concept in terms of cosmic horror. Just executed poorly which isn’t a surprise given that 343 was at the helm.
Being scammed is the societal norm nowadays, most people have gotten used to it and keep wanting to believe infinite will get better because they have a form of Stockholm syndrome with 343 lol
How can someone say that 343 canon is more valid than bungie canon? You can pick and choose what you believe about the story, death of the author and all that, but you cannot argue that the original creators intent is less canon than some stuff someone made up after the story was all told. If the rightholder to Lord of the Rings wrote a book that retconned everything Tolkien said, would it really matter to the true canon? Of course not.
Most of them unironically PREFERRED when 343 retconned Bungie's story. You see as much in the Halo subreddits. There's this weird sympathy people have for 343? They're always so critical of Infinite (because they secretly love Infinite but are afraid of saying that they do because it's not popular to say so) but god forbid you bring up the story. Because 343 are saints to these "fans" (aka tourists) and they can do no wrong, Microsoft and Bungie are the evil ones! Not Saint 343 No, 343 IS Microsoft. They were formed with employees and executives FROM Microsoft. They are literally one and the same, but for some reason people think they're not? Those same people will then tell you lies about Halo 3 retconning the Forerunners, and the terminals, so it's okay for 343 to do it, right? It's okay to revive Spark (god the "explanation" they give on the wiki is so pathetic) and have him travel with someone who looks like she's from a completely different franchise, because apparently Bungie retconned too, so it's all okay!
Its such a tragedy what has happened after Halo 3. I never would have thought halo would have become so trash with the games, the lore, the story telling etc.
Nothing 343 has done is cannon to me. It's obvious all they wrote wasn't connected in the slightest to what came before. They just took the skin suit of halo and did their own shit.
this video hurts. I feel bad for ur friend. he was blissfully unaware to all of this horrific butchering of Halo, and now u have ruined him. I wish I could go back to the days before 343 lore existed
Halo Infinite was a "spiritual remake" of Halo CE, and now Halo Studios (former 343) is doing Halo CE remake with UE5. Can they just leave Bungie Halo alone?
10 minutes in I keep hearing you know what burke? As you know what bert? And now I'm listening to the rest of the lore dump imagining it's bert and eernie from sesame street talking and bert freaking out and it's glorious.
I don't understand. I just don't. There are so many creative people in the world, let alone whatever city 343i calls HQ. Yet they find a way to recruit the least talented and capable people to run a fan favorite franchise into the dirt. Like... at this point, if I created a list that ranked everyone in the world in terms of capability to make a Halo game, every single staff member at 343i would be at the bottom of the list. Okay, okay, that's a bit hyperbolic. Maybe there's one or two people that simply aren't in the position to make meaningful contributions to the franchise that might make the game better if they were, but it's such a low percentile, you'd be better off just scrapping the whole studio. I feel like the executives at 343i, Blizzard, Disney, and a few other studios get together and legitimately go over viable strategies on how to tank their companies reputation. Like, maybe it's a challenge? Like they sink the studio so far that they're considered more competent by doing nothing and then take on the challenge of trying to gain back AT LEAST what they lost. It's the only thing that makes any kind of logical sense to me.
My big issue is that the most interesting aspect of halo is the human covenant war. The ships, tactics, ideologies, factions and weapons. I don’t care about gene codes or weird librarian ladies I want military sci fi with a backdrop of an ancient civilizations ruins.
The vehicles driving around “on their own” happened when you got into the vehicle and it didn’t actually put the player in the vehicle and then as you would walk around I believe the vehicle would drive at the same time. It was quite a weird bug.
Frank O' Connor single handedly divided an entire fanbase because of his fan fiction that never made sense.
This is the problem with lorefags, they’ll take anything as long as it adds to the lore.

I still miss the theory that Halo 3 was a prequel to Marathon.

Why is this not being criticized more, seriously
I know right? The poor guy looked like he was on suicide watch last we saw him. Between this and what happened with Destiny I legitimately feel bad for him, he can never seem to catch a break with these mediocre hacks and corporate douchebags.
@@Slender_Man_186 I hope 343 never makes another game.

Oh yeah, and they broke up Alpha-Nine entirely. Yeah, you know, that team that was desperately trying to reconnect with each other back in ODST? They no longer exist at the end of New Blood. All because they had to make Buck a Spartan, which defeats the entire purpose of his character (that he ISN'T a Spartan and doesn't need to be), which, mind you, Buck was already a last minute change because Thorne was originally part of Fireteam Osiris, and his voice actor wasn't available, but Fillion was.
New Blood was so bad they had to retcon Mickey being a traitor in Bad Blood, and now suddenly all is forgiven with Mickey and Alpha-Nine is back to normal but now they're all Spartan-IVs because god forbid an ODST exists in 343's universe. Don't you just love that?

funny thing is, you could probably get away with doing that as a legit sponsored ad for that game.
This video aged really well. Now with the 343 rebrand it only gets funnier

" Somehow, the Didact has returned"
Yes, of course, the Librarian. The lady who made the worst level in Halo CE.

The librarion is not the worst halo CE level. It's a classic brainlet take for people who can't appreciate oppressive game design to complement an oppressive foe.

Then these same people lose their minds over this one detail because she literally doesn't have any other personality than "She speaks Elite and likes them a bit too much, haha!"
Honestly she should have been Dare instead, even if I hate the whole Buck becoming a Spartan thing, at least she's a much more likeable character that we know already like Buck, actually does have personality, has a pre-established relationship with Buck that we saw in ODST that could still be expanded upon, could even lead to more interesting conflict in Osiris (both her and Locke are ONI agents) instead of... whatever Vale is.

The Halo Community, however, is.
whoopsies
@@anonymous7564 as a halo fan i can confirm the community is full of racists but not as full as racists as CoD
I wasn't expecting an April fools vid, but like over 1h is really crazy xD.
I agree it has nothing to do with the essence of Halo
This is like watching a video of someone being tortured but instead of screaming in pain they are just disappointed and confused
Burke’s reactions to what 343 has done to the series is almost exactly the ones I got from my friend who hasn’t played a Halo game since Halo 3.
All the grifter channels are saying season 5 fixed it for reals this time 🙄.
I forgot how stupid 343's lore was
Being scammed is the societal norm nowadays, most people have gotten used to it and keep wanting to believe infinite will get better because they have a form of Stockholm syndrome with 343 lol
Not Saint 343
No, 343 IS Microsoft.
Makes me sad how much 343 has ruined halo, they never understood any of the fudamentals that made it great
This got me so bad. I fell for it. I hang my head in shame.
Me as well..
Omg everything about this video is gold.
I feel like I've finally found the sane part of the fandom.
I can't imagine the pain of having all this absolute idiocy dumped on me in one go, poor fella
At least some of us had it spaced out over a decade
If you look up "Chronic Stupidity" in the dictionary, its just a photo of 343s lavished headquarter logo.
this video hurts. I feel bad for ur friend. he was blissfully unaware to all of this horrific butchering of Halo, and now u have ruined him. I wish I could go back to the days before 343 lore existed
New title: Andy talks to a man stuck who was stuck in a Halo time capsule for over a decade for an hour and one minute.
I hope frank O'Connor gets fired
I have good news my friend
@@todddouglas7231 It is finally over thanks for the good news.
@@justletmeuseyoutube213 I wouldn’t say it’s over… The damage he’s done to halo can’t be reversed at this point.
@@todddouglas7231 I know but I can take solace that he can't do anymore
I love they're just talking in multiplayer maps, and they just have a whole setup sitting there
I'm not sure how many of these one guy explains bad halo lore to another guy. But I would definitely watch another
The master chief in Fortnite spit take was absolute gold hahaha
You missed out telling him on the Halo Paramount series haha
343 lore is just VERY VERY BAD fan fiction of Warhammer 40k (The Old Ones "=" Precursors)
This is also unironically a great summary of how the Halo franchise has been diving downhill post-Bungie
Halo Infinite was a "spiritual remake" of Halo CE, and now Halo Studios (former 343) is doing Halo CE remake with UE5. Can they just leave Bungie Halo alone?
Exactly. They’re out of new ideas, and a remake is ideal because it’s "easier" and will generate huge profits.
You guys should start a podcast. This was a dope convo
Only if the format is the same: an hour of him telling his friend about trivia for crap games. He could do a David Cage series easy.
eh the entire channel is chill discussions about games.
His friend is as entertaining as a 6 year old wanting to impress his older brother
10 minutes in I keep hearing you know what burke? As you know what bert? And now I'm listening to the rest of the lore dump imagining it's bert and eernie from sesame street talking and bert freaking out and it's glorious.
His name is Berk.
@janskam6376 I'll look them up, my cc said burke and I didn't check.
You know it's gonna be good when the title is 3/2 and a raid shadow legends ad is in it
I don't understand.
I don’t care about gene codes or weird librarian ladies I want military sci fi with a backdrop of an ancient civilizations ruins.
forerunners in 343 books live for like 10 000 years or some shit
The vehicles driving around “on their own” happened when you got into the vehicle and it didn’t actually put the player in the vehicle and then as you would walk around I believe the vehicle would drive at the same time. It was quite a weird bug.
