For me..Most promising metal band out there. Just celebrating their 5th Anniversary. Their timing was unlucky cause of pandemic but also had a lot of time to practice to be a band. They all are amazing musicians. Lovin how easily they can change the genre and mixing up everything so good together. When Saki( stage left gtr) left the band earlier this year everyone was kind of afraid what’s gonna happen next but they decided to Stay as Four Member band and they have proven that they are even stronger, tighter and heavier today. Their liveshows are insane 🔥❤️ Everyone is praising the ” New” Nemophila. Lovin this band, amazing musicians, close friends. Magical band. Nemophila forever 🔥❤️ Greets from Finland 🇫🇮
Drummer Tamu Murata is known as The Smiling Thunder. Her smile could light up an arena, she is fascinating to watch. It would be interesting to see a drum demo with her and Haruna, different styles but both are amazingly good. btw, there are plenty of friendships among Japanese bands, without the petty rivalry and egos you sometimes see with western bands. From their social media postings, Nemophila vocalist Mayu went fishing with Miyako from Lovebites!
The drummer, Tamu, signed her first endorsement contract with TAMA Drum in 2016 and since then, had been one of the major influences to the growth of young talented drummers in the region. Besides being spokesperson for TAMA Drum Japan, she is known for her relentless energy yet approachable instructors during TAMA Drum Clinic session in Japan and China, where she had been received as huge celebrity whenever she is in attendance. She would have her own 'booth/section' for the meet and greet, signing autograph, taking pictures and such, to the participants whom she regarded as her students. Her second endorsement contract was in 2019 with MEINL Cymbals, in which she seems to prefer the Byzance series to compliment her Walnut / Birch TAMA Starclassic set. Her choice (or at least documented ones) for typical cymbal setup are: - Byzance 15" DUAL HIHAT, - Byzance 10" EXTRA DRY SPLASH - Byzance Vintage 20" SAND RIDE (Benny Greb's signature model) - Byzance Vintage 10" TRASH SPLASH - Byzance Vintage 16" TRASH CRASH - Byzance Traditional 6" SPLASH - Byzance Traditional 20" CHINA - Byzance Traditional 18" THIN CRASH, and - Byzance Traditional 17" MEDIUM THIN CRASH ...it might not be accurate as time goes by since she loves creating things and that includes looking into new unique sounds. Nevertheless, she is the beast behind her kit, or maybe the goddess... either way, she smiles a lot and having fun performing - and that is all that matter 🤘🏻 ...oh yes, she mastered the arts and technique of Jazz drumming, thanks to her teacher, a reputable session drummer in Jazz scene, Masahiko Noguchi-sensei.
Yes, a nemophila is a flower. They wanted to name the band after a flower because they are all female, and finally chose this one. Formed in 2019 when lead singer Mayu was looking for a backing band for a live session. She called her former classmate bassist Hariguchi-san. They found Tamu Murata, a highly in demand session drummer, guitarists Hazuki (ex Disquala), the one with the pony tail, and Saki (Mary's Blood). They felt this lineup was too good for it to be only a one off. Saki left earlier this year ,amicably, after 5 years and 3 albums. They are continuing as a 4 piece, with Mayu playing some guitar, and with solos to be more of bass and guitar vs the dual guitars previous. Most songs have a clean and harsh vocal mix. But some are all harsh, and a few all clean. "Oiran" is their first ever single , from their debut album, Revive. A few more to try: "Dissension" and "Revive" from the 1st album. From the 2nd album, "Adabana" and the title track "Seize the Fate". And 3rd album: "Ame-te-ras" and "Night Flight". And the first song as a 4 piece, as of right now a stand alone, "G.O.D."

Great songs that show the softer side of Nemophila. 'Ama-Te-Ras' is a quite unique 'groovy metal' song and one of their best as well. ‘G.O.D.’ is their newest song and 1st song as a 4-piece band
The drummer Murata Tamu has her own UA-cam channel as well and there is a lot of lovely drum stuff on there for you. Some of her X-Japan cover work with Daisuke Kurosawa on her channel is awesome. The Nemophila cover of X-Japans Kurenai is great for drummer viewing.

Congrats on getting the Nemophila pronunciation right the first time, it is a struggle for most. Drummer Tamu is tiny in stature, but a giant behind her kit. If anyone can convert a scream-hater, it is Mayu, and she doesn't always use harsh vocals. Maybe the closest to a gimmick that Nemophila gets is the fun they have paying respect to the bands they do covers of.😀 Unless you count being beautiful, humble, dedicated, caring and so talented a gimmick. There are Japanese bands with bigger followings. There are no bands, anywhere, with more heart and talent. Nemophila is pure 🔥🔥🔥
