Yea, so it's kind of a spoiler, but she does come back in the end, for when you fight Isabella. She turned around to come back and help you out. The orb in her hand is from the Ebonscale Queen, Zhao. It was how she was going to get her ships through the storm wall, and apparently Isabella gifted it to her. Who knows how many of them there are out there, but it for sure leaves open the option to get through the storm wall and add sailing to the game.
SS means season? If so, I mean, it's got the new trial, but not much else. If you're on a break, I'd say wait til June or so. New season is a bit janky as they get used to new code, and fix all of the issues that came with re-working the whole system.
