It’s strange seeing this as back in the 90s he was seen as pretty self absorbed, pretentious and big headed! I personally liked Jas Mann though! He was an interesting guy!
@@AllySayI was thinking the same. He had a reputation for being full of himself, but all I've seen of him has been quite normal. Prince as well. He knew how good he was, but in interviews he seemed respectful and intelligent. I think celebrities just get sick of dealing with phonies and hangers-on, once in a while they explode, and that becomes their reputation, fair or not.
I've just listened to that album for the first time. I grew up with spaceman and it holds a lot of meaning for me. The album imo is the same. Full of knowledge and wisdom but the choruses lack.
He was in a band called Sand Kings before Babylon Zoo. That's a George RR Martin deep cut. George had just released the first Game of Thrones novel in 96. Ahead of the curb 👍
It may be useful knowledge to all that the Sandkings already had that name before Mann joined them, because their original singer was Andy Parton. I think it might of been bass player Dave Brown who came up with the name, since Dave designed the bands insectoid logo... Having read the story myself, it regards a race of ant-like insectoid beings - and that is likely a reference to the Beatles as the sandkings did a live cover of Tomorrow never knows. ---- Other than directing the video for Earthwheel and writing the lyrics of earlier singles, i don't think Mann much creative control in the sandkings - hence leaving. Babylon zoo is actually a spiritual continuation of an even earlier band called The glove puppets ;-)
@@IlariaDellaCasa Think you might be getting mixed up, he was the Exec Producer of Cabin Fever 3... most people didn't know there was a Cabin Fever 2 never mind a third though
Jas did the lyrics And the words And the music. Probably didn't include all the notes. But it is his album and he recorded it in his bedroom while I was probably struggling with finishing ks3 maths in mine.

Artists back then were refreshingly normal and not socially engineered. Same as the 80s. We've lost our spirit due to social media and politics.

Danced myself out the womb. T-Rex reference in response to the glam comments. Interviewer didn't seem to realise, I suppose.
