    Alex I recommend Adding Amber Lights To your Semi Since you start to drive In early Dawn So you’ll be more visible And also I do recommend Adding Stronger antennas for your CB Radio.

      It is not his truck, he does not own it. The truck is built to federal standards and is legal in every state. Adding your own lights will likely make you fail a DOT check depending on what state you are in. If and when he becomes an owner operator he may add what ever he likes since he will be paying the fines and doing the on site repairs to get back to legal so he can get released from the scales where he got shut down.

    2:56 Alex, so what happened is that when you add DEF to your truck, the smog gets cleaned by the DEF through a filter. It’s called a particulating filter. So what happened is that, that filter was full and it clogs the exhaust. The smoke you saw is normal. It’s the same smoke that comes out when the truck is regening. But since the filter is full, it blocks the engine exhaust and could damage the engine.

    • @johnwashington5179

      so they need a week to change a filter?!

    • @stevec8861

      He said cause was problem with an intake valve. That was cause. They won't know how bad the resulting damage until they get into job. The week to repair was an estimate. btw, particulate filter is to catch soot. A regen cycle is to burn off the soot from filter. DEF is sprayed into exhaust steam after the particulate filter to convert NOx (nitrogen oxides) to water and nitrogen.

    The new Freightliners come with the Gen5 engine. They went from a dual rocker set up to a valve bridge. I've done overhauls on Gen5’s with 30K because it dropped a valve due to that bridge. Terrible design but I call that, job security.

As usual, 2 hrs later, some knucklehead in a reefer comes all the way back there to park next to me. After 2 or 3 startups of the reefer, I'd had enough. Pulled the curtains and crawled to another area.

I can't get revenue without having a terminal closer than N.C.. Alex, I just have to watch for some decent land deals right around 10 acres so to build my third yard, I have to have at least 15 trailer capacity. I'm also trying to stay under a million dollars for both yards and possibly one in Kansas. I'm just trying to be very cautious, I'm ready to get estimates on my vision for what I want to own. Trust me Alex, you're on the easier end, being a driver this other stuff will give you nightmares. Maybe by 2026 I can expand out Kansas City Missouri? I look at it as a 3-4 year plan.

    • @tomroberts8066
      @tomroberts8066 Рік тому +1

      All modern Semi Trucks with sleepers are fine, some have better features than others but mile-for-mile they're all pretty similar. What you definitely don't want to be stuck in for Long Haul is a Cab Over/Flat Nose, which I don't think any U.S. Trucking Company uses anymore. Cab Over trucks will beat your guts sore due to the Driver seat being positioned right over the steer axle, so all the bumps your steers hit go straight up into the driver's seat.
      My first OTR Company I drove for was Cab Over fleet only, but that was decades ago, back in the 90's, so I'm pretty sure those gut busters days are gone in the U.S.. I believe Europe and the UK still use them pretty heavily though.
      Thankfully, don't know that any U.S. Companies even use those anymore unless it's some tiny outfit somewhere.

    • @tomroberts8066
      @tomroberts8066 Рік тому

      @@sahilpandita2293 Well the major Trucking Companies like Swift, JB Hunt, Schneider etc. usually have recruiters already connected to most CDL Schools to hire up New Drivers that they will then Train up in their own Company Training program. If your CDL training didn't provide you with contacts to any of these Companies, you can still call them up yourself and explain that you just completed your CDL Training and successfully completed Training and obtained your official CDL License.
      The major Trucking Companies have no problem taking New Trainees with no prior Trucking experience, as they have their own Training Programs to help get you up to speed to be able to Solo Drive after 1, 2 or 3 weeks or more of Trainer assisted training. If your still having issues after an extended training session, then that's where they may decide it's no longer worth their Company resources to continue to train you and let you go. That's pretty rare though.
      If it's not a major Company, then you just need to ask if they accept New CDL Licensed Drivers, the worst they can do to you is say NO they don't, then you know to move on and try another Company.

      @@truckercowboyed2638They're talking about the annoying habit of Freightliners to turn the flashers on automatically when you pull your brakes and park up. The worst part is, there is no info online, through the dealer, or in the manuals or truck display to tell you what sets it to doing that, and it doesn't do it all the time. It's really annoying.

      You are only supposed to use them when backing, when you're broke down, when negotiating tricky turns where a car might get hit if it tries to pass you (like a roundabout), or when signage at the location directs you to.

      Are you talkig crap about the Frightliners again, if so let me tell you I love my Kenworth T680s I have 3 2020 and 7 2024 Next Gens I just got me 2 EX-GP drivers because they like the color of my $$! I've started where my uncle left off I'm looking to expand cautiously. With the new drivers makes up for not being around while I look at new properties. I think GP is a joke so was Variant,my uncle took so many contracts from Variant to service one customer. Now they're building a factory right next to my Georgia terminal and opening a bunch of stores in my area by 2024 when the factory is done they will account for almost 1/2 my revenue 1/3 right now.

      Im out of Georgia. GP Trans is averaging $2,000/week. If you can beat it then Id be interested in a job. Ive got 2.5 years. Clean record. Stay out 6 to 8 weeks at a time.

    Alex, you can buy an inflatable kayak! That way you can stow it away easy

      Like there's 9 cubic feet of readily available space for an inflatable kayak in the cab. Get real. Between kayaking and the UA-cam channel, there would be no time left for driving.
