Totally agree about the pressure to be productive during quarantine. It’s so easy to compare yourself to the way others have taken advantage of the “extra” time but I definitely think it’s been really amazing for me to use the time to be more introspective! Also love the bit about maintaining friendships - i definitely feel like it’s gotten a LOT harder after being out of school. SO much harder to meet people that aren’t just trying to get an opportunity out of you.
Ah thanks for the comments Mira. I agree i've been very grateful for the time to slow down and look after myself. Also ngl that last sentence is so relatable rn since I've started this channel 🙈
I loved this video, it’s nice to see people in their 20’s and are still friends from high school days & The pressure to be productive during lockdown is realllll.
Wow! This is so enriching. You got some interesting good points. Thank you for sharing your wonderful insights and experience. I love it. Keep up the awesome videos. I support your channel :)
Awesome vid! Imo I think we’re conditioned to constantly have goals and be working towards outward “success” and it has the potential to be quite damaging. It puts the emphasis on happiness arising from the “destination” rather than the “journey”. And then we’re left disillusioned when the glow of getting that degree/raise/house wears off and we’re still not content because we haven’t addressed the things inside. Kinda like in fight club.
Love this chilled talk guys. So nice to have a raw convo between 2 mates as opposed to something staged (if that makes sense!). Agree with literally everything you guys said too!!
Found the discussion at 12.55 super interesting! I find it's when I look at how I think and feel about certain topics/situations now, compared to how I used to, say, a few years ago, that I get a sense of my personal progress in various areas (like self-knowledge, confidence, political awareness etc)
This was a great discussion. I liked what you said about true friendship not being transactional, but Instead based on genuine, unselfish mutual appreciation and respect. As a person in my twenties, I definitely feel this automatic need to compare myself to others in my field. And I suppose that's just a natural way to feel in general, but it does get me into trouble. It makes me wonder where my values should truly rest. In a world where I am incredibly successful, would I just compare myself to someone my age who is more successful? When will anything ever be enough? Will anything ever be enough? I also dug what you said about perhaps switching from result oriented goals to time oriented goals. It does seem to be a kinder way to deal with one's self.
Thank you for your thoughtful response Zavie. I think it's really important for us to realise "enough" for us can be different from "enough" for others. But how we find what "enough" is for us is a still a journey for me lol
loved every second of this, especially the parts about enduring friendships and them not being transactional! in the well-known words of billy ray cyrus, much to think about
