You are by far the most prolific artist I know of. I can't believe you did all those works in such a short time on the retreat and then after coming home did so many more developed works based on the trip. This is a fantastic example of how travel provides inspiration, not just in the moment, but for a long time thereafter. What a magical experience it must have been for all involved. Thanks for taking us on the entire journey.
loved to see your progression with your work, from the sketches to beautiful abstract landscapes. The colours are stunning, you were obviously very inspired.
Just great videos from the ‘starting packing’ to the ‘finished collection’ showed to us, it really took us along with the whole process from start to finish and I loved that. Your sketching and painting skills are just yummy 👌 and I throughly enjoy them all. Thankyou for showing us all the ‘levels’ you produce work at, from quick sketches to canvas paintings and all the inbetween, for me it makes for such a well rounded experience watching your videos. I also think your painting skills all came together and really hit a ‘higher’ level of skill in those all those final paintings. I can see that they would have made a wonderful show in a gallery setting - they would all sing to each other 😊. I send you big congratulations on all you’ve achieved 🤗. Thankyous too 💕
Fabulous colors! Can’t believe how many paintings you’ve done from the trip. I would love to have seen some of the other artist’s visions of the same things you painted. Great video!
Those paintings you showed when you were actually at the retreat center are fantastic-the colors are absolutely amazing, there is enough realism, for example fan and hanging lights, and the pic at minutes 14:15 was just stunning!!! There is such life and movement in that one. And then the one Grady grabbed for himself! That's my other favorite :)
Hi Sandi! I'm very happy that you had fun in Italy and that you created these beautiful paintings! The colors are wonderful, very vibrant! They are all beautiful but I was most fascinated by the painting at minute 30:20!😍🎨 Soooo beautiful! 👏👏Thank you Sandi for your beautiful videos, they are inspiring and your studio is beautiful, I love it!! 😍🎨🖌️ Hi Sandi, a big greeting from Italy! Ciao! 👋😄🇮🇹
I started watching this when it dropped, but knew I needed to give it my 100% attention. So glad I waited until this evening to enjoy this - the work you created during and after is absolutely stunning Sandi! 😍
I absolutely loved seeing your paintings! I love your style and your color palette. It was so wonderful to see so many works in one video. ❤ Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thank you for sharing. I've watched all your Italy retreat videos from prep to your finished pieces...pretending to be one of the participants 🙃. Cannot imagine the time and energy it takes to organize and lead such a retreat. My hope is one day you lead a weekend workshop or retreat closer to home. I wouldn't hesitate to sign up. Peace.
What a feast! And so many! I love the palette, the bits of purple creeping in and hearing about your process and thoughts. I am full of admiration for your talent and work. As always, I look forward to what is next!
Stunning work Sandi🧡 I am in awe of how much you created during and after your trip, its both inspiring and motivating. And your colour palette is beautiful. As always, thank you for sharing🙏🏼
Great fun Sandi. I am so grateful to have one of your paintings from Cefalu. It’s up, framed and I see it every day. Great memories. Can’t wait to see your paintings from Maine next ❤
Could be completely off base but I believe the story about the planter pot heads may be that of Isabella and the pot of basil... the story goes that after her lover Lorenzo was murdered, Isabella took his severed head and buried it in a pot of basil to mourn and keep him in secret, watering it with her tears until the plant was flourishing. There is a painting by William Holman Hunt of the same name based on the story from the late 1860s I believe
Hi I’m fairly new on your channel And I love love your work and one thing you said just a couple minutes ago, but my dog is playing with me and I couldn’t stop, was you were teaching someone how to paint from their sketches. I love that you paint in your sketchbook I’ve always just taken some pencils with me. Isn’t it something else things can get drilled into your head is how they’re supposed to be? Anyway, if you could at some point in some time on your UA-cam on the subject I would be so tuned in and focused on that😊. Whew. I’ve been trying to get caught up on all your UA-cam. This is the most current well the one from New Year’s I guess is the most current, but it was like Eureka! Here you are.
Hi Sandi, at 2:36 : Cefalù is pronounced with the same "ch" sound as chair, or cheers. In English it would be spelled Chefalù I suppose. Greetings from Venezia 🤗
Wow, what a lot of beautiful work. The landscape at 14.06 might be my favourite thing you’ve ever painted, there is so much movement and energy in the composition, and i think a slightly different colour palette than you usually use. I love the olive tree in the foreground, and the peachy pink colours against the blue sky and olive green leaves. STUNNING.
Do I understand correctly that you used watercolor and gouache during your travels but the paintings you made at home upon your return were painted with acrylics? Like Golden fluids or heavy body tube paint? Quite a lovely body of work!
It’s the little things…that obviously took a lot of thought and work…the light on the windows…the way the light hits the highlights on the Jeep…I’m only 11 minutes in……the lady…the man had an affair…the chopped off head…omg….im in it…I’m in it!! Ok further in now….past the planter pot heads lol…please consider a zine of some of these sketches, because I want one of everything! ….Like Mel does of her work? Ya know? Would you ever consider that?
@@sandihesterI understand that completely, I have not even had any time for filming or editing in months and months. Pretty much post to Instagram and that’s it, I need to take an editing workshop…..I have no idea how you do all you do. We all need need to hire an admin assistant that does great edits as well…lol….
Sandi, this work looks like a strong collection which deserves to be shown and sold in a gallery as a solo exhibition.
Awe - really appreciate that!
@@sandihester getting a gallery is a business move worth considering for you at this point. It'll sell your work and free you up time to paint.
Your colour palette is very delightful from this trip. So enjoyed seeing the collection 😅😊
Oh thank you!
Yes I love the palette also. Beauitful.

Did someone mention Maine? I’m waiting for a new retreat to be posted!!! Painting are amazing.
I just got back from there for a trip - no retreat scheduled there YET
Oh well it was wishful thinking. Hope you had a nice trip there. Used to vacation there every summer when I lived up north.
