- Is it possible to beat every level of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga without touching a stud if you play in free play mode? This important question finally gets the answer it deserves.

Update--- After review, the ruling on the field is you actually have to touch three fewer studs than I say in this video. This is according to WiiSuper, who provides an explanation in the replies to the pinned comment.

There are certain glitches and unintended mechanics which are exploited in this video. For simplicity’s sake, I default to the stud avoidance technique which most aligns with standard play. That just means if I can avoid using a glitch to get around a stud, I won’t bring it up, and will just talk about a way to get around it that does not use the glitch.
If my voice sounds a little off, it’s because I was a bit sick.
The music tracks used all come from various Star Wars movies, and they made this video get copyright claimed, but oh well.

Sovern Gaming Sovern Gaming Great video! I was glad that the Free Play tech was able to be used! I will say that the 3 studs can be avoided that you picked up. On 4-1 you can do some extremely precise out of bounds movement to skip needing to blow Vader up with a bomb, skipping one there. The second one is on 6-1; in the second room you can triple jump over the transition at the very start of the room and walk out of bounds to skip that one there. The last one is on 6-2, you can actually skip pulling the lever with a very finicky fly that involves sliding along the side of the ship. So down to 28! There might be a few more but other than that I think the rest need to unfortunately be collected but it’s still crazy how little you need.

One thing I didn't see mentioned anywhere, though I don't know its viability in the no-studs challenge is an oversight with boba fett's jetpack flight. Normally, the "fuel" only runs out while you move he control stick, or when over certain pits. However, when you fire boba's rifle in the air, there's some recoil that propels you a bit backwards(The homing missilrnattack might work too). This recoil can be used to cross much larger distances without running out of fuel, though you need to carefully line up to your goal beforehand. It is also very time-consuming. Theoretically, the one stud collected during the lava lake sequence at the end of episode 3 could be skipped with Fett's recoil propulsion. This was something I found out several years ago as a little kid, trying to figure out how to pick up some minikits without resorting to an online guide.

Little Trick: Use in 6-2 the Extra "Self destruction". With this one, you can Destroy the Container without moving the box. -2 Studs (I think)

@@AllToastersToastToast You can avoid the stud in the lever by dropping out when pulling it (I think that actually the less number of studs you have to grab for beating all 36 levels is 15: 4 in 3-2, 3 in 3-6, 2 in 5-4, 3 in 6-3 and 3 in 6-4)

Unlocked characters that appear as NPCs in the level you select will automatically be selected for your Free Play roster.

I like to call the triple triple jump a triple jump chain. It happens because when you change from a slim character to grevious he clips into the wall slightly. You can then do another triple jump. It is possible to to this endlessly
the actual name we use in the lego speedrun community is a grievous wall climb. He use clips from speedruns in this video.

As last time, I'm going to rely on his gameplay, but I'm also going to include the gameplay provided by the speedrunning community to skip the studs using multiple triple jumps.
Episode 1 - 0 studs, so a value of 0
Episode 2 - 1 Silver and 3 Gold in 2-3. Value: 310
Episode 3 - 3 Silver and 2 Gold in 3-2, 3 Gold in 3-6. Value: 530
Episode 4 - 1 Silver in 4-4, 2 Silver and 1 Gold in 4-5. Value: 130
Episode 5 - 2 Silver and 1 Gold in 5-4. Value: 120
Episode 6 - 1 Silver in 6-2, 1 Silver 1 Gold and 1 Blue in 6-3, 5 Silver in 6-4. Value: 1170
Across the levels the stud count is as follows: 16 Silver 11 Gold and 1 Blue for a value 2260. The triple jumping and the use of the fetts cut the studs/value wayyy down. To be honest I'm surprised the value isn't smaller, especially for the amount of studs collected; shows how much impact a blue has. Great video yet again Sovern.

the reason that "yodaka" or as it is typically called, yoda clipping, works is because when you jedi slam as yoda, he tends to clip into ceilings. By switching to any other character (not just droideka) after, you essentially have clipped through the ceiling
For the rng character selection, you can unlock specifically characters user in this run to massively improve odds of getting them

I actually tried this, and in the Dagobah lvl i managed to find a way to clip through one of the center trees, bypassing the 3rd scene, which was the one you had trouble with. I still don’t quite know how, but i managed to get far enough to activate a progress trigger, which plops you into the center of the 4 scene, instead of at the entrance. Weird.

15:44 a common speed running trip for escape the death star is as soon as you go to the place where luke grapples across a chasm, you go all the way back to the elevator part with infinite storm troopers. you touch the stormtrooper helmet thing , and when you go to the millennium falcon, it has despawned. just jump in the general direction where the entrance to the ship is and it will end the level, saving studs.

11:42 there is a glitch you can do that allows you to be a car in that hallway area and be unaffected by Darth Vader’s force. You have to be Yoda driving a car in the cantina then have the co-op player switch into the car. It does work. Then just drop out of the co-op player and enter a level in free play mode. I’m not sure if it’s possible to get the car that far into the level without touching a stud, but it is worth noting.
Also, thank you very much for this yodeka jump trick. It’s seems very cool. At 15:02 I always wondered what happens if you manage to catch up to the running stormtrooper.

4:20 Pit droid finally has a use
firstly amazing content, so many little easter eggs you put in. here is some things that I think might help reduce the stud count.
20:23 i think one of the studs on the launch pad shouldn't be counted. it looks like it automatically gives them to you when the launch pad is activated. if you are running this on an emulator there might be a code to disable picking up studs, if the game gives you the studs anyway then you know its because of the launch pad. you might be able to avoid them by dropping out a character right before landing on the launch pad to avoid collecting the studs, then dropping back in, in mid air(maybe a similar strategy at 11:42 with the lever). Also isn't Watto's flight time infinite? (its been a decade since i've played this game, but it brings back the good memories) if it is infinite he could be used at 10:37 to keep going past the small mini islands and reduce the coin count by 2. 12:31 have you tried yodeka jumping over then trying to use the panel through the wall? 19:45 looks like the triple triple jump/wall climb used on Endor could be used against the side of the air ship to skip the lever stud. (16:57 maybe the r2 panel as well)

Interesting points you have made. As for Watto, he can't fly over the lava without falling, but he does have infinite flying over the ground. I'm not sure about that Endor launch pad thing - might have to look into it. As for the other things, I either tried them and they don't help, or they have been covered in the update to this video (see description). Thanks for the comment!

In 6:2, you _can_ actually get across the gap without pulling the lever. If you get to the platform above and then use Fett's jetpack, you can glitch your way into the little decorative bit above the last platform, which allows the jetpack to recover so you can make it across. -1 stud.
Boba And Jango's Jetpack have infinite fuel if you stand still, i think its duration relies on distance travelled, that can be exploited on multiple levels.

20:02 actually, there’s a way to avoid that stud, all you do is get on top of the shields protecting the spinning things, and use self destruct as a droid in any of the 4 openings on top at the right time, it actually damages the thing inside, do it 3 more times (1 on the one you just did and 2 on the 2nd one) then ya beat the level, I’ve done this multiple times so I can skip the tedious crate pushing

There's a way to avoid the first unevoitable stud in the droid factory, You haven't has to destroy the boxes in front of the R2 panel, just Swich to ig-88 and put front of the panel and press b button to acces the room reducing the number of studs to 30
